From E3 untill now, Can you honestly tell me what we know of Fallout 4 objectively?

No U!

In any case, the game supposedly went gold today so maybe they will finally start releasing more information. Or maybe they will continue their "Gamers would buy the game even if it was just a literal jar of feces" marketing campaign.

Hey, give Bethesda a little credit, man.

They're going to have a professional artist draw a line, and that line is going to have curves. Then he's gonna draw a slightly less curvy line behind it, and then draw some squiggly lines on top. After that's done, it's gonna look like a Vault Boy, and it's gonna be the coolest damn Vault Boy their PR has ever spewed out. And Fallout 4 fans are gonna like it.

Also, speaking of PR, I got Pete Hines to retweet me. The reaction from Bethesda fans was rather amusing. https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/657582270442811394

So, frajaq, what's your point? We here live our lives like normal humans too. Most of us here I'm sure don't give a shit about the people who "just want to shoot stuff" either. We just want a good game with actually good RPG elements in it, and we can have that with other games, with different non-incompetent developers behind it. And at the end of the day, once this series dies by the hands of Bethesda, we'll be laughing our asses off. That's how it goes. We're just here discussing Fallout but we won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Things will just go as they go. Even once Fallout is dead, we might still be here, finally free of any trolls or anyone who wants to defend BGS without any reasoning behind it, talking about what a piece of fucking shit Bethesda Game Studios was, maybe.

Holy shit that tweet was a bold move. Twitter might just be the single worst place to ever say anything critical about something. Most tweets read like it's written by a fucking 9 year old, honestly. Hope you survive that.

The integrity of Fallout - our experiences from 1, 2, and New Vegas, will live on as long as there are people like us with our kind of appreciation for the series. The future of Fallout has a good chance of being dead if Bethesda remain the only people making Fallout games. But the day Obsidian gets another opportunity will probably be a revival.

I dunno about that, Obsidian may very well provide us with a great story, characters and lore but the gameplay? I can't stand FNV any longer because it is the same shitty gameplay as from FO3 only marginally improved. A second Obsidian game? I fear it'd have to ape FO4 a lot. So, yeah. May have a great story and lore, but I dunno if I'd be able to stand the gameplay. Can't stand any Bethesda gameplay at this point. Every time I boot up Skyrim, FO3, FNV or Oblivion I get sick of it after like 30 minutes. The gameplay really is 'that bad' for me.

What about the gameplay do you not like? I use JSawyer or some other mod that affects damage modifier like Project Nevada to make the combat better. Animation replacers also help a lot with the game's purely visual presentation.

I personally don't have a huge problem with the gameplay but I can see why people dislike VATS or the AI in FO3/FONV. I still think New Vegas improved MASSIVELY with JSawyer's mod included though. My biggest worry is that Fallout 4 just fucks up the gameplay even further. Maybe weapons mods will improve it by a tiny bit, maybe the AI is better. Not sure.

You kind of fell flat when you started talking about integrity of a video game franchise.

Well I don't think the people in that particular thread were all that cool and mature about it but eh.. in the end we're the ones who are having fun :)

Call it whatever you want, but that's an obvious troll tweet. Bethesda ripping of Mass Effect? And what did they rip off? Romancing? This kind of thing existed before Mass Effect? Baldurs Gate 2 and Planescape Torment had romancing and that was way before even Bioware was bought by EA. Other than that I can't think of anything that Bethesda would steal from Mass Effect.

Ripped off is a strong word but it's possible Bethesda saw how "successful" ME's dialogue system/romance stuff was and used it.

Still the replies kinda speak for themselves

Sure. That's hardly ripping off. We can agree with that, but there's nothing bold in that tweet, even if it angered Beth drones. It easy (too easy if you ask me) to rile them up.

We know how it works. You only get four choices. Look at the footage featuring Piper. The wheel shows up briefly, but you can see there are four choices, just like in every previous dialogue exchange.

It's mapped to the four Xbox buttons, all instances of the Dialogue cross being shown always orders them in the same way with the "Bad option"mapped to B, the "Nice option" mapped to A, Questions to X and Neutral Option to Y. It also has shown that all dialogue choices are summarized in 2-3 words, probably they are also limited to a specific number of syllables. This system is as dumbed down as it can get, Fallout 5 will probably go full on "Press F to pay respects".
