From E3 untill now, Can you honestly tell me what we know of Fallout 4 objectively?

Yeah, Real groundbreaking 10/10 shit IGN. kappa.

This is what people are excited to see? Indeed this will be a dark day indeed for gaming if this game actually gets critical appraise.

I would suggest you avoid the internet for at least a month starting a few days before the game is released, and perhaps stock up on batteries and flashlights as it is likely to get quite a bit or praise. You might be okay if you confine yourself to NMA, as it will just be business as usual around here.

Except for my updates on stuff.

I plan on making posts charting my progress through the game.

I even promise not to spoil anything for anyone who doesn't want spoilers.

Even though I spoiled MGS V for some bunch of people.

Won't make that mistake again.

The only thing missing is being able to put enemies like raiders to sleep then fulton them to a specific settlement to serves as guards. Oops might of given them ideas.

Alternate weapon choices?

Why would anyone want to not splatter heads?

Much more efficient to ignore that entirely.

Remember fatigue damage from Fallout New Vegas? I bet it's completely gone too. It wasn't really any good in NV, but as a mechanic it makes a lot of sense and could be refined and made useful with some work.

Fatigue damage would be great if fatigued enemies could become non-hostile and surrender. But that's what happens with Fallout 4's Intimidation perk, so I guess you're right that fatigue will not be in Fallout 4. I'm indifferent toward it. I'm not indifferent toward the removal of traits and rewarding SPECIAL starting at 1. (Who the fuck thought of the latter?)

One of the few things I say for certain that they've gotten right has been the design of the new Pip Boy. But then they brought out their new BS character system. "Ain't that a kick in the head."

I also can't put precise words to it, but with the knowledge I have of the game so far, it feels very... very Bethesdian. Before Fallout 4 was announced, I was hoping they'd go for a more original storytelling approach, like not using a Vault dweller as the player character, or maybe a more (I don't know how else to say it) down to earth approach like the main story to Fallout: New Vegas. They could have shown some new cool-looking armor and robots, like FONV did with its ranger combat armor and securitrons, and I would have been happy to see that. But close to all that I'm seeing is the rule of cool charade in the marketing of the game, and the game itself; The E3 demo set in Concord is almost like the embodiment of the rule of cool. I think it's fine to use the rule of cool in moderation, but at least try to do something original (not showcase some iconic elements of Fallout - e.g., power armor, deathclaw, and vertibird in rapid succession).

But that's what Fallout is now to the masses.

Like how the Turtles are now the friendly ninjas of the neighbourhood.

Yeah, but as a counter question, what have we seen more of in terms of bought gaming IP sequels: them getting treated with respect, or like easy cash dispensers?

You need only look at the moichedising Bethesda is doing with the IP to know why they spent the six million they did to get it.

List of websites and their risk levels for retardation:
  • Bethesda Forums - Official forums for Bethesda games. Risk Level: Ground Zero
  • Most mainstream "general" gaming sites - IGN forums, GameFAQ, etc. Risk Level: Please avoid at all costs
  • Reddit - A voting based board site with its own communities. Risk Level: Extremely High[SUP]1[/SUP]
  • Voat - A free speech alternative to Reddit with similar boards. Risk Level: Noticeably High[SUP]2[/SUP]
  • 4chan - An anonymous imageboard site for various topics. Risk Level: Moderate[SUP]3[/SUP]
  • 8chan - A free speech alternative to 4chan. Risk Level: Unpredictably Low[SUP]4[/SUP]
  • No Mutants Allowed - A forum for discussing the Fallout franchise. Risk Level: Low[SUP]5[/SUP]
  • RPG Codex - A forum for classic/hardcore RPG fans. Risk Level: Low[SUP]6[/SUP]

Reddit has a few boards like /r/gaming which is full of people who don't play games regularly but still talk as if they do. /r/Fallout is full of Fallout 3 entry level fans whose first RPG was probably Oblivion. Most criticism offered towards their favored game are either met with a "Lalalala can't hear you" or "That's only your opinion"
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Voat's gaming boards, much like Reddit's, are full of people who aren't even interested much in gaming as a hobby, and instead as just a "stupid fun past time". Any criticism towards modern Bethesda will be met with, "I've been playing RPG's for 30 years, they've only gotten better. In Skyrim I can chop a Dragon down and watch him fall to his death. "
[SUP]3[/SUP] 4chan's /v/ has acceptable taste. Most of them acknowledge that modern Bethesda can't roll out anything good, but there is still a very vocal minority of Bethesda fans who will relentlessly praise Fallout 4 when it comes out.
[SUP]4[/SUP] Every day there's a Fallout 4 hate thread on 8chan's /v/. However, it's still flooded with shills and people defending the game whenever it's brought up. When Fallout 4 comes out, I suspect there will be quite a few threads of people who will be streaming pirated versions of their games just to laugh at it.
[SUP]5[/SUP] You guys are cool, just the occasional Bethesda shill/troll who feels the need to "spread his controversial opinion xD xD xD"
[SUP]6[/SUP] Bethesda fans are actually punished by the moderation staff, but there are still plenty who post frequently.

Any others I might have missed?

What about Sugarbombed? It's only when I came to NMA I've heard about this site. Must be pretty risky.

Also I've had first hand experience getting downvoted to hell on /r/Fallout but honestly what's weird to me is that most people agree totally that FNV is simply a superior game and that the setting, story, worldbuilding is completely fucked in Fallout 3. Yet people there are still hyped beyond measure and praise everything bethesda have done for Fallout 4 right now. They do occasionally use the ad populum and "if you don't like it don't buy it" bullshit.

Fallout 4 looks like a much improved Fallout 3 and a LOT of people enjoyed F3. And you're right most people loved New Vegas too and found it better!

It's just that you guys can yell at the skies bitching about Bethesda's storytelling all you want, a lot of people just don't give a shit about that and just want to shoot stuff in the place while still having RPG elements to it.

People like that, who care so little or care nothing at all, should never be catered to in the first place.
Create a new IP for them and call it Explosions, The Game and chuck some plastic RPG elements into it.
An already established franchise should not have to be ruined for those that didn't even care for it until it got bastardized.

At least you understand why no Bethesda game can ever be a true Fallout game.
