Game Informer Fallout 3 article scans

Notice the first page of the article lists the game style as ACTION RPG.

Yip, yip, yip. At least they're being honest, for once.

Probably a mistake.

"The Vault of the Future" against "Vault Secure!" which do you prefer?

I do like the touch of the fact that rays of sunshine are coming from the vault in Vault Secure. Other than that, it's got nothing on Da Future.

It's fitting that Todd's playing a character with an IN of 4 and subpar scores in basically everything.

Chasing after Daddy with a Nuclear Catapult.

LOL BOSS BATTLE AGAINST NEMESIS FROM RESIDENT EVIL 3

Fuck it, I'm done.

VATTS needs to go into the vat... What is the logic behind even having it? Why not just go for Oblivion with guns all the way?

I don't like the fact that the storyline is locked so that you're playing a 19 year-old looking for his dad. That's so gay. 19? How are older gamers supposed to relate to playing a teenager? At least the original games let you pick your age, or I should say gave you a range from 16 - 35 if I'm not mistaken.

Because I would not buy it then?

Good point there, but technically, they could just make Liam's character a 55-year-old. problem solved.

Becasue I would not buy it then?

So you're going to buy with with this sort of craptics turn based set up?

Another thought that comes to mind... It's interesting Beth shapes up their forums so there can be no more debate about turn based vs real time right before this article hits the public....

They did, but that already broke down now, there's thread about how crappy VATS is all over the place.

If only to make up my mind about it. I did buy Tactics, didn't I?

Right now, I'll adopt the same stance I did for Tactics: Expect the minimum, so everything above that surprises me positively...

Uhmmm..what the hell have they done to my favorite gaming franchise of all time. We waited patiently for years......for this.

Remember, remember... The gun powder, treason and plot. I am chocked. I guess the game still has a chance but I must say some of these screens are below my expectations. The super mutant looks very high tech mixed with lord of the rings versus scrap metal. I won't judge an entire game on this article though. Must be a lot more in there..

Still looking forward to the release. If the game play is good, it could weight up for some mistakes.

I liked the article. I really hate the way GI presents itself, but what the article talked about had me excited.

Points that interested me:
-Camera. The over-the-shoulder 3rd person appeals to me, the screenshot taken with said perspective looked good.
-The Character Creation deally. It seems promising.
-VATS. If done right (of course, all of the things listed here have the caveat of "if done right"). It's the best we could've hoped for, really, and it sounds like it could work.
-The in-depth character details...More rads to worry about, food, water, weapons care, etc; surviving seems like a key component to the game.
-The graphics look good, though one can't really tell about the textures and the up-close things.
-The NPC detail sounds better than what I've heard about Oblivion.

What I didn't like:
-The orc. The one on pg 57(6) had a decent body, but the armor was very lame.
-Todd Howard.
-The GUI. It looked bad, though this could of course be fixed.
-"The Fatman". It seems far too gimmicky.
-The VATS system could suck, really really bad.
-The age thing? Why? It's not a huge deal to me, but it seems pretty stupid, considering Bethesda wants to act like they're giving you such crazy control.
-World size. I would like a bigger world than DC. I have been in DC, and I once lived there; DC is not big enough for Fallout.
-Todd Howard.

It looks to me that Bethesda are well on their way to make a really good post-apocalyptic RPG - or what goes for RPG these days.

Doesn't appear that it'll be much of a Fallout game, though.

Now all we have to do is wait for its release, and subsequently, for the modding community to try to turn it a Fallout game...

Finally: Achievement Points = Digital Crystal Meth.

That a weird point that didn't really occur to me at first. If FO3 has Achievement Points, it is likely Vista only.
:ok:

Hmm. Baggy uniform isn't too bad, more logical than a skinsuit, but a missed touch. Though maybe that's just what you wear when you leave the Vault?

Edit:
Oh, I guess that's what they always wear. :(

Hmm

I really don't see any problem except for some of the screens. VATS done right could be a really really great system, and sometimes it's time for innovations. I really like all the features of the text, but as said, some of the screens make me afraid.

For example this super mutant, WTF? This isn't World of Warcraft 2, or Oblivion, whatever. Really, I HATE this screenshot, if I should take this as reference then I would automatically forget about the whole article and give a shit about this game.
And then this giant and the thing about the catapult.....lol. Really, just lol, Mac Gyver made it into the future...

And then the thing with the toillet. It is a nice idea, but not as a permanent lifepool or whatever. These are actions which should be rewarder RP technically, but not per game mechanics. Reminds me little bit of the blooddrain in Bloodlines, allthought it fittet into the game genre. It makes me sick thinking of people camping at the toillet to defend vault number 101....or was it 102? screw it

Some of the screens give the impression of an action adventure. Yeah, I like Action Adventures, but I expect Fallout, so I hope for a sequel. I hope this are just screens to satisfy the xBox 360 community, I really don't want to feel like in a fucking First Person shooter with some random events. Stick to the text, and everything is allright, and I think I'm gonna love it. But screw the horrible part of the screens. Yeah, and no more Mac Gyver...even if there is enough crap to get him satisfy for his next 2 lifetimes

Well, I stay excited

""Once Upon A Time In The West""

""Once Upon A Time In The West""

GI article uses a lot of the appropriate buzz words.
Some one, you pick, the writer or the talking heads he quotes, has been doing their home work on the RPG inspired forums.
Talking the talk .... walking the ... ?

V.A.T.S. reminds me of a 2-key combo in ""Red, Dead, Revolver"".
Called "Dead Eye".
My memory is hazy. Think it was a purchasable - POWER UP.

2-keyed. Time slowed. Stylized sight in the ever popular blood red.
Zoom to targeted spot with analogue stick. Pick as many as had shots in weapon.
Pushed fire. Scored more points -- dollars for specific body part hits.
Mo' Money fo' Mo' Pow-ah UPS!

My memory is hazy. Recharge timer. Think it had one on screen, elongating bar graph. When fully erect, 'Dead Eye' availability logo on screen.

Don't want to PS 2 this tonight for total recall.

Memory better than reality?

Could scan the retinas of Charles Bronson and henry Fonda in "Once ..."".

The baggy uniform fucks up the setting. Baggy = post-90's
The skin-tight Vaultsuit --> classic superheroes --> 50's

It's the difference between Wolverine in a yellow spandex and Wolverine in a black leather outfit.

I can't sleep thanks to these scans.

The more I look at that supermutant, the more Orcish he becomes.
