Game Informer Fallout 3 article scans

Having read the whole article, a whole plethora of new shit has indeed emerged.

What's all this talk of 'sprawling underground metros and sewer systems'? That sounds like dungeon crawling to me, complete with the monster closet mutants.. not good... any bets on how many quests will involve going underground to retrieve X, to rescue Y, and muller Z? I had wondered how they would do a large urban environment seamlessly - now I know, it will all mostly be tunnels!

The talk of AI with 'knowledge of the terrain, and situational awareness' can be interpreted as - they will get stuck behind trees/lamposts, walk into your line of fire and will constantly remind you that the chapel in anvil has been attacked, If the accuracy is anywhere close to Todd's comments on Radiant at this stage.

Meh this isn't going to be FO3, dare say it could turn out to be an ok'ish/average game - but doubt I could put aside my bias enough to ever enjoy it...

PS - What the fuck is a 'crashed' aircraft carrier, was it involved in an accident with a semi? Or did a pigeon get sucked into an engine and cause it to fall out of the sky? Last time I checked boats either; sink, explode, run aground or get scrapped. *sigh*

Hmm. Baggy uniform isn't too bad, more logical than a skinsuit, but a missed touch. Though maybe that's just what you wear when you leave the Vault?

Edit:
Oh, I guess that's what they always wear. :(
The baggy uniform fucks up the setting. Baggy = post-90's
The skin-tight Vaultsuit --> classic superheroes --> 50's

It's the difference between Wolverine in a yellow spandex and Wolverine in a black leather outfit.

I can't sleep thanks to these scans.

The more I look at that supermutant, the more Orcish he becomes.

To be fair, the uniform isn't that baggy. It's more like a regular uniform, and you could always just pick up some armor.

That mutant really does suck, though. He's wearing a tire on his shoulder...

-World size. I would like a bigger world than DC. I have been in DC, and I once lived there; DC is not big enough for Fallout.
-Todd Howard.

Yeah but you forget that DC will have a lot of dungeons underneath it.

From my recollection, DC had a metro...That was it. Are they now utilizing sewer pipes? That just sounds annoying.

It's baggy enough to annoy the hell out of me. It's even got pockets on the legs. I have a pair of trousers like that, dawgunnit.

Also: the PipBoy 3000 looks too modern. It looks like something you'd see in a modern sci-fi. And what happened to the Traits? Did they just leave them out?

The Vault billboard: Vault Boy looks totally out of place, the style of Vault Boy is completely different from the rest of the illustration.

The Supermutant: if that's a Supersledge he's wielding, then I'm outta here.

Pfff... The good ol' days are over. Gone. Forever. Such a shame.

It sucks to see that after 10 years of wait and anticipation, we now know for sure that.... Fallout is no more. Sad truth. Thanks BS-Corp.

One of the last opportunities for the gaming industry to explore niche industries, too. I wonder where they'll develop towards now, because the current state it's developing to is a pretty nonviable economic model.

Ah well, some day one of us will be a millionaire and buy it from the then-defunct Bethesda.

Nah, looks like a typical laser sledge to me. If I ever built a laser sledge, it would look like that.

To be frank that was the thing that annoyed me the most at first sight. Really takes from the "fallout 1/2" pocket and adds to the "some generic futuristic game" box. I really hope that sledge won't bring the whole game down. Because if it does, the game plainly sucks. It just can't come down to that. It just can't.

I wouldn't say that FO3 is dead, it's just...Not going to be the sequel we want. I think it'll be good, just not comparable to the originals.

I was really feeling it for the first few pages... and then it all started going downhill. Nuclear catapult? Tactics muties? Resident evil-style camera?

WELL, THAT SURE EXPLAINS WHY I'M FIGHTING NEMESIS FROM RE3.

PS: I pretty much nailed the combat system in the last thread. Whatever, go me. It still isn't washing away the dirty feeling coming from seeing the prediction come true. I'd almost managed to fool myself into believing it could be really good.

They managed to make it sound worse than I could've imagined. Execution still applies here, I guess. Don't judge a game by its hype article?

By the way, nice to see the horrid console menu scheme make another appearance. Where you select a menu category and then browse through a large number of pages, since it has to be easy to use with a game pad. Complete with nice large, easy-to-read on a television text.

...and that was the moment when Fallout 3 died.

I have transcribed 3/5 of the article, all I will do tonight. If anyone wants to go ahead and work on the last 2/5, be my guest.

I guess we have to hope that direct marketing and episodic content really takes off sometime soon. Sam 'n Max (also niche) seems to be working out fine on that basis, it seems to be quite a safe model as long you stay nich and target a captive audience. Ritual (SiN Eps) fucked up by making an average FPS for a general market, saturated with them.

If I was that millionaire I'd buy the TES license as well.... and make a nice isometric TB game. Mind you, does improving a product really work as revenge?

Finished the rest, Kotario. I grouped the Behemoth with the Pip Boy 3000, as it seemed most similar to that in layout. Checked for typos, none.
