Pretty sure that Fallout 3 isn't going to be turn based...

So? Are we suddenly not allowed to be miffed about that? The point is that we don't want a first-person view, because we want turn-based combat. You know, that all ties in together.

What happened to quality RPG games?

The leading policy in software development in the recent ten years seems to be: "Forget creativity. The dumbest buy the mostest, that's the name of the game".

Yay, Dead Kennedy's quotes. Hi5! :)

How about I counter with:

Punk's not dead
It just deserves to die
When it becomes another stale cartoon
A close-minded, self-centered social club
Ideas don't matter, it's who you know
If the music's gotten boring
It's because of the people
Who want everyone to sound the same
Who drive bright people out
Of our so-called scene
'Til all that's left Is just a meaningless fad

Fallout 3 is being made by Bethesda, so without hearing ANYTHING other than some very promising things from a single article and trailer... It is obviously shit and Bethesda needs to burn for daring to damage our game.

Except this is the year 2007, and Turn based games are dead. I'm sure they could be done quite well, in indy and niche games, but Fallout 3 isn't a niche game. Bethesda isn't going to risk something "experimental" on Fallout 3.

Since the fuck when is first-person view, retarded real-time with pause, orcs featuring as super mutants, hand-held nuclear catapults and someone who wants to detonate a nuke in the middle of a town for retarded reasons 'very promising'?

Don't be a blathering retard. Turn-based is only 'dead' because everyone aims their games at the exact same market, which is dumb as shit and causes a lot of games to fail. Bethesda is doing the exact same thing, but with a franchise that holds no value for people who don't like its gameplay, which they are now butchering.

Short question: Who actually owns Van Buren and the rights for it?

Short Answer: Last I heard, Van Buren's code was retained by Interplay, but all the rights to the Fallout Universe are now owned by Bethesda, with Interplay having the exclusive license to make a Fallout MMORPG.

Also wrong. Van Buren's assets are spread mostly to Obsidian, and partly to Bethesda.

Don't give people bullshit like this. TB games are good no matter what year it is. They offer a way to have fun and engaging gameplay, where your actions have real consequence, much like the rest of Fallout. If anything it's RT games that are inferior.

Also, everyone who thinks turn-based games are dead must've missed that whole poker-boom thingie.

Don't Collaborate.

Under no circumstances give them the opportunity to say this is the game Fallout fans have been waiting for, or this is the game Fallout fans have asked us for.

LISTEN THIS GUY ! I totally agree with you ! Dont give em alibi at all . I still cant belive what i saw on those screenshots :((.
I am totaly disapointed........ we all waiting for f3 more than 8 year, and now 3d shooter?!
What the fu*k ?!

But Sander, Poker is played in First-Person. Incredibly immersive.

The only reason those poor saps can bring themselves to deal with the horrible turn-based gameplay is the thought that they can win large sums of money. Surely Real-time Poker will be the wave of the future.

Really? When's the last time you saw a turn based game break the top 10 PC games list? :)

I mean, outside of strategy games like Medieval Total War 2.

That is what it is about?
You want this game to be in the top 10?

Civilisation 4. Temple of ELemental Evil before that, probably.

People still enjoy turn-based games just as much as way, way, way back. It's the retarded thought that every single game must be aimed at as many people as possible that makes every idiot think that turn-based must be out.

Yes, let's ignore a large amount of turn-based games in an attempt to prove a point that turn-based games don't sell. Earth-shattering logic.

Do you not want this game to be in the top 10? :?

Bethesda isn't making a game for you. They are making a game to sell to the largest audience they can.

If you want a game for you, learn C++ and the DirectX API or libSDL.

Civilisation 4.

Number 9 over 2006, according to NPD (half the top 10 is Sims games, obviously).

Xython: tell me the last turn-based game that flopped?

Also tell me why Fallout 3 shouldn't be a Sims game, since Sims games dominate the PC top 10.

Civ4's a strategy game, doesn't count.

ToEE is what, 4 years old now? 5? And it wasn't exactly a success, what with Atari deciding to remove the entire evil side of the game at the last minute.

Any others?
