Games You're Looking Forward To

I just looked up the Crusader Kings II, and I love those sorts of games, like total war, but I think I like the look of this more than total war.

I just remembered that Stronghold 3 will be out soon...supposedly.

I hope that one turns out to be an okay game, akin to the first one.

You should check out the rest of Paradox Interactive's line-up. They have other great historical strategy games like Europa Universalis III (Late middle ages); Victoria II(Victorian age - my personal favourite) and Hearts of Iron III (WWII). I've been playing Paradox games since the 90's, and each one they bring out is even more awesome than the previous one.

Some of these games have a bit of a steep learning curve, but I can personally guarantee that you will never find better, more challenging and engaging strategy games.

I'm liking the look of Victoria 2 at the minute, i've always preferred early modern and medieval to other eras in the timeline. The steep learning curve will just add to the replay-ability of the game as I learn more about it, although there is one thing that i'm curious about, can you slow down the pace that time passes in the game?

Yes you can. There's like 10 different speeds and a pause mode...
There's actually a pretty good tutorial included with Victoria II, which takes you by the hands and leads you though the different parts of the game step-by-step. After doing those, you should at least know what the hell you are doing.
Once again, I highly recommend it. It's an awesome game, and the replayability is *amazing*.
In Victoria II, you can be any country in the world between Napoleon and WWI, and you can take that country in any direction you want to. Want to build China to be a industrial powerhouse? Possible. Want to make Belgium the centre of cultural innovation? Possible. Want to militarily dominate the world with Austria-Hungary? Possible.

Man, this is making me load up Victoria II again.

And Atlus fucked me over, I didn't want to get a PSvita, but that game makes it so tempting, Persona 4 is one of the few JRPG I like (in fact is one of my favorite games) they didn't release this SPecial version back when the game was on the PS2, they had to release it on an overpriced hanheld. I am not even gonna use half the shit they put in the console to make the price skyrocket so much.

I like the look of Prussia the most, I love 18th-19th century Germany, the history of that era was very interesting for central europe. Plus, you should advertise games, you just should.

Am looking forward to the new Deus Ex game if I ever get a (new and shiny) computer to play it on. :)

Aaaah the Prussians. I've played so many games with them I lost count... The problem with the Prussians is, though, that you have to play with 'house rules' in order to not make it too easy for yourself. A unified Germany is bound to be an industrial powerhouse, and you can basically win the game without actually trying too hard.
I don't know if it's still the case in Victoria II (I haven't played them that much in Vicky II), but in Victoria I you could, if you played your cards right, unify Germany in the 'Greater Germany' way: in a wave of popular uprising, you could unify Germany proper with the Austrian Empire. After that, world domination was but a few decades away.

The consecutive goals one has to set for himself are espeically awesome with Prussia, though. Goal #1: industrialise as quick as possible. Goal #2: initiate a diplomatic offensive to garner as much North-German support for your cause as possible. Goal #3: defeat Austria-Hungary and it's south-German allies in a war, while trying to keep the rest of Europe out of the conflict. Goal #4: diplomatic offensive to try and rally the Southern German states around your banner. Goal #5: defeat France in a war. Goal #6: integrate the now unified German economy into an industrial powerhouse. Goal #7: get colonies. Goal #8: defeat the British navy, and dominate the world.
The time I've spent with Prussia... Good times, good times.

While it's not a game per sé, the thing I'm most (by far) looking forward to is Europa Barbarorum II for Medieval II: Total War; the successor of the amazing, incredible, etc. Europa Barbarorum for Rome: Total War. It's a mod (in name), but it surpasses that moniker by miles. It's by far the most correct, complete, informative and fun historical strategy game I've ever played.
They've been working on Europa Barbarorum for years now (and it doesn't look like they'll be ready any time soon), but if you look at the incredible amount of work and scholarship that goes into it you can't really blame them. I've spent (easily) more than 1000 hours playing Europa Barbarorum, and I expect to play Europa Barbaroum II at least as much.
I'm looking forward to it so much it hurts.

Never installed mods for TW games but this one looks amazing.
Will play if it ever gets released.

You made me want to reinstall Napoleon TW (downloading 20+ gigabytes ugh :( )

Diablo III & L4D3 for my online needs. Otherwise, a shitload of titles, Skyrim & Deus Ex HR amongst them...

Yeah, I have Europe Babarorum currently on my RTW, very entertaining mod, if I must say so myself, thats one thing that annoys me about ETW and NTW mods, they aren't as daring and 'big' as the RTW and M2TW mods, its saddening.

Ooh! Ancient India, a place not explored much in the realm of entertainment unfortunately :(

Watched that Mech trailer.... jaw on floor.

No mods for TW games doc? Wow. Need to change that bud. Thats at least a thousand hours of gameplay right there.

I recommend Dues Lo Vult for M2TW or Road to Jerusalem. Not sure which i played more of, but... epic. just epic.

Darthmod Ultimate Commander for Empire was excellent although not as grand a scope as M2TW mods. I think the changes to the system of them games from M2TW to ETW made grand mods like EB not possible anymore. Kinda sad. Every mod post-M2TW feels like "vanilla enhanced" as opposed to an entirely new game.

Found a game to look forward to - though it'll probably be another year or two till they're done with it. Still, this looks like all sorts of awesome:

pretty awesome yes. But I hope it will be a bit more then just a "shooter" with mecha look.

I mean such a game is simply screaming for something like armor values, penetration and such. I mean it has not to become a simulation of some sort. But a bit more complex then unreal tournament could not hurt either.
