Games You're Looking Forward To

But it's a western game about Muslims. It'll be about as knowledgeable about the area as Outsourced was about my people.

I'm Russian and I don't let an overexaggerated sense of identity prevent me from enjoying everything from "Modern Warfare" to "Air Force One".

I would say the same if I was living in SF, CA.

But you're right, I am from iran and I would have enjoyed 300 if it didn't suck rancid goat balls.

It's good (and has a lot of songs form the poets of the fall <3!) but not that scary. The story itself however, is done in a really cool way.

Well, good story is what I'm actually after.
I'll seriously think about buying this - the more I do, the more the idea gets appealing to me.

Modern warfare and air force one don't say that being Russian means you are inherently evil being. The same cannot be said for a lot of depictions of Muslims in pop culture unfortunately :(

Oh go ahead yaar. It's really good.

Erm. In MW1 they have Russians and Muslims be evil. It even starts with an evil Muslim and an evil Russian driving you to the execution (and I understand that you're, at the time, are also Muslim - a local leader of some sorts).

In MW2 it's all about evil Russians invading America and destroying its way of life, and there are evil Russians in MW3 also. Russians shoot up an airport full of unarmed civilians, and you sure get to shoot at a lot of Russians throughout Chernobyl and elsewhere.

In the end of MW1 you kill an evil Muslim, in the end of MW2 it's either an American or a Russian (not sure), and in the end of MW3 you kill an evil Russian.

In "Executive Decision" evil Muslims take over an American passenger plane.

In "Air Force One" evil Russians take over the AMERICAN PRESIDENT'S plane.

Anyway... I shot plenty of evil Russians in MW series and elsewhere. It's okay. I don't get all hot and bothered over "inauthenticity", or the fact that whenever they show Russia in USA Network shows, it's some kind of easily recognizeable Kremlin backdrop on the green screen, or when they gave Russian mafia boss a female last name in "Sons Of Anarchy"...

It's funny. But it would certainly prevent me from enjoying a lot of media if I took it seriously.

Every year my list of upcoming games I would like to play grows shorter. I am looking forward to Diablo 3, Fallout 4, Halflife 3, and Resident Evil 6. Truth be told I would rather play something new because I am starting to get sequel-itis. Kingdom of Amalur looks interesting. I'm not a big R.A Salvatore fan, but I like what I see so far.

I don't think we are going to see many new things save for the indie developers.
There is no experimenting these days and the niche market that put out the games we loved in the past and still love now is pretty much nonexistent.

Even the new Jagged Alliance reboot gets streamlined into RTwP and line of sight suddenly doesn't matter anymore.

Unless the target crowd of modern video games gets tired of getting sold the same game in a different wrapping each year this trend will sadly continue.

That said I'm still looking forward to Postal 3. :P

Fallout 4

I'm not sure whether to look forward for this, without developer conformation that Obsidian is doing. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway.

Ditto. I liked New Vegas a lot more than Fallout 3. Obsidian should take over the Fallout series before Bethesda ruins Fallout like they did Elder Scrolls.

So I have the Collector's edition of Star Wars The Old Republic waiting for me in the post office, I have early access to the game, but not got a computer good enough to actually run it on.

:(

So near, yet so far away.

I was wrong.

It runs, it runs, it runs. :)

I'm glad Alan Wake will be brought to PC. I was severely disappointed to hear that it was X-box only given that it's an adventure game which is a lot more common to find on PC than console.

Also I heard it was good from reviews which I read after having a cousin tell me it's great which I thought to ask after I heard this song:

If the gameplay is half as good as that song it will be worth playing. Also Sabirah I was introduced to Poets of the Fall just from that song.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

X - Rebirth
Xcom (although it's probably going to get butchered by the streamlining trend in games development these days)
Syndicate (" " ")
Diablo 3
Max Payne

I will have forgotten some.

I can't wait for next year, since that's when all the big hits roll out for the 3DS. I mean, we got Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 3D Land, and Mario Kart 7, but I need my Paper Mario fix.

I'd have to say I'm looking forward to Crusader Kings 2, although I won't be buying it until all the expansions and DLC are released.

Metro: Last Light looks interesting for me, and now that GSC is gone, 4A is probably going to be my fix for Eastern European, atmospheric post-apocalypse first person games.

And if this is to be believed, whatever is the next Company of Heroes game. Then the next Dawn of War game.

Looking forward to whatever is the next aircraft modeled in the Digital Combat Simulator series. Fingers crossed that it's the "Mudhen." Been aching for a good Strike Eagle sim since Jane's F-15.

Dont worry about the previous X-Coms, they are generally accepted as terrible games; turning them into an FPS is the way to go since we don't get enough FPSes these days. I can't wait to see the iron sights!

by who??

I thought x-com was awesome

Looking forward to X:Rebirth, though piloting one ship is a bit disheartening to me. Still, the the idea of module additions and drone control could help create variety and ships with completely different play styles.

ArmA 3. I've been a fan of this series since Operation Flashpoint and they just get better and better with each iteration. The ideas going into this game look great and knowing Bohemia's background should not disappoint. Unfortunately, the ArmA games are notorious for their bugs, so it might not be a first day buy for me. I'll just wait for a few new patches and I'll be set.

Mass Effect 3. I'm really disappointed in what I see, but I've invested so much in this series that I at least need to finish it. Maybe this was Bioware's goal all along. They don't need quality if they already have legions of fans destine to purchase it. Everyone is going to want to finish the trilogy.

Bioshock Infinite. For a modern day shooter, it looks pretty darn fun. Just like Bioshock, it'll probably be as deep as a dry pond. Entertainment wise? It'll probably be decent.

Grand Theft Auto V. Each installment of this series just gets better and better. Rockstar really knows how to balance cinema style stories with fun gameplay.

Uuuh, ummm. Bioshock Infinite and Metro: Las Light? Can't think of anything else interesting coming out next year.
Well looking forward to the new Syndicate and X-Com games but mostly because of schadenfreude.
