General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Purchased LOTRO the other day, now downloading a shitload of patches because I got a 1.0 version in the box set. In other words, downloading, not playing. Yet.

Tried downloading that Psi-Ops thing, but fileplanet keeps redirecting me to the front page when I click the "download" button. Where else could I get it?

You can buy it? I'm afraid only fileplanet offers it for free.

How much didja pay? And how is the monthly fee? I'm curious, as I enjoyed it pretty much after trying it out for 2 weeks.

As for what I'm playing - Pharaoh + Cleopatra expansion. Easily recommend it to anyone, the game's a blast even though it's 10 years old.

It's $9.99 a month as far as I can remember, cheaper than most MMORPGs.
I liked LOTRO from the trial version, I prefer the emphasis on PvE and the world was far more interesting to explore than WoW's.
Still, it has the MMO problem of there being absolutely no point to playing the game at all and the combat being a tedious inhumane mess.

Around 40 euro for a box set which included a game dvd, game manual, activation code and a buddy code. Only to find out they enabled online purchases (back when I was playing trial the said I HAD to buy the box set - goddamned codemasters). Dunno how much it is to buy online, I was too pissed off to check it.

I also get 30 days play for free.

EDIT:

Just pulled an almost 48-hour stint in the game. Slept twice for a couple of hours and ate while playing. I love this game.

Speaking of LOTRO I did play it for while when it was released and liked it. But at some point the novelty wore off and I only played PvM. Now PvM was awsome tough somewhat crude, but whipping together huge monster raid to siege the keeps was awesome experience. Gives new meaning to crowd control. The fact that normal chars are2-3x powerful then monsters, makes player skill more obvious. Didn't relay get into end game PvE that much, was grinding rep at PvM.

Red Faction Guerrilla's multiplayer demo. Pretty fun. I mean everything that isn't rock is destroyable. Annoying sniper on a tower? Take out the base of the tower. Walls in the road? HAMMERTIME.

Finally STALKER SOC, once you get the hang of it its quite fun.
My earliest mistake was that I played it like a full FPS while a little tactics is involved.

Unfortunate I somewhat sequence breaked the game, finding Strelok's base of operations a little too soon.

I also hate those damn controllers and the poltergeist anomaly.

Bump: If anyone is playing LOTRO on Evernight let me know, my in-game name is Vladan...

Well, with my unusual amount of downtime lately I was thinking about giving it a try. How is it? I'm not a super huge fan of LoTR but I wouldn't mind a decent MMO. Biggest question is Fees?

A little grindy.

People in general are pretty nice, there's not much horseplay going on. I do have a problem with people who play with secondary chars rushing through instance quests which are pretty cool, but you can't full enjoy them if you're rushing after someone who knows it by heart already.

Apparently there's an RP server out there that I'm thinking about switching to, haven't tried that yet...

As for fees: http://www.lotro.com/trial/ - $10 a month.

Well, I may have to check it out. I'm a little head shy considering my previous WoW adiction. I've learned to not do that kind of thing though. With moving and the possible new job it might be a good way to spend time in my downtime since most other games I either don't have time for or are too casual for my taste.

Kilus was right about Spore but it's not that big of a deal. Just a little wasted money.

Left 4 Dead...I don't know, I just love it when I manage to get my claws on someone and swallow the life out of him/her...
The only multiplayer game that entertains me these days.

Oh and Fallout 1...

well I'm a WoW addict but I actually like LoTRO more. I have tried it a couple of times and absolutely loved it. the setting and atmosphere are much better and the quests feel a lot more story based and while they mostly consist of the usual "kill X numbers of Y creature" they feel a lot more fun to do. also, everything is a lot more party based so you're not gonna run around soloing everything up until the end game. also, people seem a lot more mature compared to WoW. not nearly as much little kids running around acting like 'tards.

only reason I play WoW instead of LoTRO is because my friends play WoW and I mostly play MMO's for the social part.
