General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Trying The Old Republic now that it's free to play, and it's pretty decent. Trying every single class, the bounty hunter is my favourite thus far. Nothing quite like rockets, guns akimbo and a flamethrower.

Replaying New Vegas with a few essential mods like Mission Mojave, WMX, NVinteriors, and Nevada Skies Urwl, AG supplementary unique's (very good lore friendly weapon additions), Blackwolf's backpacks, Advanced Recon Gear, and the pup tent mod. Very stable with over 15 hours so far, with no hard crashes (knock on wood). The 4 GB extender is essential as well, for those who meet the requirements. I simply downloaded the mods listed, used Nexus Mod Manager, and ran BOSS to sort the load order out.

Really enjoying GTA 4: Ballad of Gay Tony. Was going to play some multiplayer with my friend on it again, but my Xbox Live membership expired. I hate Microsoft.

Games I'm playing most right now are Black Ops 2, completed and just enjoying the zombie mode. Also X-com Enemy Unknown, had to restart due to researching wrong tech and was to weak to face those darn Alien scum :( . Also Fallout 2 with the excellent Restoration Project mod, on nostalgia overload! :D

For whatever reason, I've been going back to playing Soul Calibur IV again; possibly because due to budget restrictions I never grabbed SCV and listening to the SCV soundtrack has been giving me an itch to play some Soul Calibur... Alas, because of my turbulent history with a couple wipes on my PS3, SCIV was one of the games which had no save data from when I had "completed" the game, so I've also been starting it from scratch. On some levels that might actually be increasing my enjoyment of the game, since I don't have everything unlocked and I can struggle to unlock it all over again. But at the same time, just losing progress has always gotten me a little down... Anyway, it's rather amusing to see the game from the perspective of aging over time. It's not bad, though clearly the series has continued to make improvements, and it was anything BUT a bad game! Wish I could say the same for Tekken 6.....

Assassin's Creed 3. It's better than Revelations for sure, and there's a couple of fine new things (the naval battles are amazing) but I can't help but thing the series is starting to stagnate. Taking care of the homestead is just tedious after a while, and the main missions are extremely linear. I miss the time where you just had a target and were told to stab it.

I do like the new combat, it flows better and is more than a counter-fest. And for once swords aren't useless since the Hidden Blade is no longer the best weapon.

It was nice to see they are keeping true to history as much as possible. No founding father worship, it's all grey and grey. Hell even the whole assassin vs templar conflict is much less black and white than in Creed 2 and Brotherhood.

All in all it's a good game, but there's just an overload of unnecessary shit (or faffing about, if you prefer) that drags down the good parts.

Also, having an absolute blast playing Planetside 2. It's a free to play FPS (I know, I know, let me finish) that takes place in a persistent world. There's no maps per se; each server has three continents (read, massive maps that are something like 20 kilometers long and 30 wide) that are constantly being contested between 3 factions, and you can use classes, airplanes and tanks as well. I suck at FPSes, but I'm still having tons of fun with it, and albeit there's a bit of pay to win it's not really noticeable because of the game's massive scale. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

Walking Dead for the third time, doing some other choices and such. I cannot state just how great the writing for this game is. It does feel a bit railroaded, but it doesn't detract from the quality. The biggest issue might be the technical problems.

Watching a group of people LP and dissect the Walking Dead, not watching too much of it because you're right, that's some ace writing with ace voice actors added onto an ace story, so I'mma gonna get it when it's next on sale.

Makes up for their Jurassic Park game being crap.

Dead Space needed more space thermos in conspicuous places.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Collectibles show up in the strangest of places.

I'm more concerned about the bear traps on the foot paths though.
That pretty much proves that Al is the greatest troll in existence.

I meant in terms of horror when I said that. For a game that's meant to be creepy and scary, I found Dead Space to be rather tame.

Now excuse me while I put on my stetson and gunbelt.

Dead Space became laughable after a while. It went so into the gore that it lost any pretense at realism and went into slapstick. I mean, how the hell could you possibly sever a limb with a single stomp? And the corpses jiggling around were funny too. It was also rather predictable, I mean the monsters always came from the exact same vent. Finally, it's kinda hard to be afraid when you have an assault rifle, a flamethrower, a javelin gun, and a shotgun on steroids on hand. It's the Resident Evil problem; how do you expect me to be scared when I can easily blow the limbs off anything that attempts to kill me?

Yeah, that's what I thought as well. The horror aspects just came off as forced.
If they tried to do what Evil Dead did and not play it straight it would have been a lot better, but as it is now it's just ridiculous.

Playing far cry 3. So far besides the graphics, and some other stuff I keep getting an urge to play stalker soc instead.
