Social media has reached a critical mass where several like-minded people can easily communicate and double-down on their beliefs. Effectively creating a vacuum of confirmation biases and group-think.
Flat-earthers know there are people out there
just like them because they inhabit the same Facebook groups and co-mingle. The pictures from space are photoshopped. The horizon's curve is an optical illusion because Sally told me so, and 400 other people just like me
emoji-loved her comment.
Billy Bob knows there are men (and women) who, like him, want to have sexual relations with their rifles because it's no longer a hobby - it's a lifestyle. That's what I do in my day-to-do, erect the American flag on my front lawn, shotgun some beers, and spit dip while I clean a rifle, again, that probably cost more than my mortgage.
Johnny Tsunami knows that all women are whores because in his selective mind, he only sees women as objects with no agency chasing after the "competition." They must be exuding some magnetic force of "attraction." It's neatly packaged and sold to him as a "book" called "
The Game" written by a
balded man still living in the 90's. He surrounds himself with very hot women so it must all be true. The OG super-seducer.
The end result is that you now have <extreme facebook group X> recruiting weak kids with no self-awareness or confidence. They feel uplifted to finally have some value. To feel like someone cares about them. Sinister people manipulating weak people. They themselves are reinforced by years of this indoctrination from their own ecosystems.
Every time a mass-shooting happens you can bet 9 times out of 10 they were part of some wack group on social media.
We then get to deal with stuffy, old white people in ivory towers trying to figure out how to not make their Christian devotees upset. They'll probably mobilize on twitter or facebook and dox me. That giant voter-base who praises God on Sunday, and fucks their machine gun the rest of the week.
I know...lets scapegoat video games.
