Oh wow I loved this port, granted the loss of Battle.net was a major minus, but who cared when you had both the PSX version and the PC one?
Diablo late at night on a single system with two controllers and a friend when you're still a young dude was scary as hell, predictably, we both jumped sky high the instant we heard the Butcher's classic line.
We got up to Diablo and found ourselves slammed and under leveled since we just barreled through the levels and resorted to all sorts of ridiculous tactics (Rogue and a Sorcerer) to get past enemies, including multiple firewalls on the other side of a doorway with me standing across the room twanging away with arrows.
Something about playing it late at night on a TV that just made it so atmosphere, and Bal is right, there was nothing wrong with the controls, they were great.
Also look at Sacred 2, that game has a wonderful interface on the consoles, and the general opinion is that the game is actually better than its on the PC.
As for Diablo 3, the issue of a console port (which I doubt is going to happen anyway, and if it does, well, it's the first time Blizzard's done it in awhile, since Starcraft) would be most worrisome in that it only really works well if the port is worked on after the PC version is released (as they were for the last Blizzard console titles, WC2, Diablo and SC) so that it doesn't divert resources or affect the PC version in as much as it would with simultaneous development (of course if they intend to do a console version, they have it in mind not to make it too console unfriendly while they develop the PC version).
Ideally, when two different studious are working on the project, one for the PC version, and the other for the console one, the results are often best.
