I bought Two Worlds II, have about 10 hours put into it now. It's pretty fun.
that is also the point where the funn pretty much ends.

Two Worlds 2 = boring shit.
As you have amongst the shittiest taste on all of NMA I rather not take your advice for it. But please, elaborate. Why is it boring shit? It has decent reviews (About 7-8/10).

I played Two Worlds II for some hours, could be even the same amount of hours you put in. I found that game to be even more bland than any Bethesda game I have played so far. It felt completely devoid of "life" and some "soul". This is ofcourse just my opinion, but I would not wish my worst enemy having to play this offline MMO.

Offline MMO? It has functioning multiplayer. I find the world to be better than that of Oblivion or Skyrim, the cities seems way more lively and breathing.

What, to you, made it feel bland and hollow?

Eh?

Why are you not going to read a bit more rom Atlas Shrugged. And that from a person who's enjoying Ayn Rand.

No in all seriousness. Go and play Two Worlds 2. But dont be dissapointed about the boring and shallow world and gameplay.

You played the game? How can you even ask that question ...

Super boring dialogues and quests. Souless cities with nothing to do and generic content. Mediocre combat/gameplay. Huge but lifeless world. Not to mention the game was rushed. A huge part of the other isle cant be even visited ... even though the developers made a huge hype around it. I wish you would had a chance to read the stuff on their forums. If even "fans" thought Two Worlds 2 was a rip off ...

I don't know, I have played through that Savanna quest chain (this was already embarassing) and the next city (dont ask me for the name) and it just felt incredibly lifeless, as if someone put artificial life into some dolls nearby my character. It all felt "fake". The Crafting system isn't what I find fun, it is just grinding. There are no meaningful encounters, everything seems to be modelled after formulas or even worse just some RNG. Dont get me wrong, I really tried to like this game because it sounded interesting at first, but it is imo a trainwreck. :/ There is no "soul" put in, it feels like something only some suit up high has thrown his ideas in.

What is there to "explore" in the cities? Guitar Hero Minigames?

If you like Gothic and Risen, I think you will like Two Worlds II.

Bingo. Granted I've only played about 10-15 hours of the first Two Worlds, I was surprised it scored so low in general. I have read it(the first game) had a very buggy start, however.

It seems like those two games with a massively random loot system. *shrug* Great? No. Good? Sure. Good enough to buy the second one on the cheap, at least.

So far I got:

Trine 1 and 2
Bastion
Fallout: NV UE
Dark Messiah of M&M
Lara Croft and the Guardians of Light (shut up)
PoP: Forgotten Sands (only one I haven't played)
Darksiders

I'm hoping Dragon Age goes on a decent enough sale. I also wish ME3 was on steam, what the fuck EA?

Okay so I have the Orange Box.
My Tf2 account is now premium, and I now have the half life 2 games, finally to see what's the big deal with them.
Stacking, Costume Quest and PsychoNauts, from the Double Fine Bundle.
Got Limbo and Binding of Isaac.

It took me all the afternoon to download them all from steam.

Two Worlds II don't have amazing writing. But it's fun, the dialogues are amusing, it gets the point though without me feeling bored. I enjoy it. I have no idea what you guys imagined it would be. It's not Fallout, Planescape Torment or Arcanum, it's an open world RPG with interesting mechanics.

you mean mediocre mechanics. I think I expected a quality game here particularly considering the huge hype-machine they started with the game it would contain awesome interesting quests, storyline and dialogues and all that other crap a "good" RPG should of course have. But already expecting a quality game was probably asking for to much. People use always "open world" like some excuse for sloppy writing or other "bad" decisions/gameplay issues. Even for bugs. Not to mention Two Worlds 2 is not even THAT open ... you will realize that once you get in the later parts of the game. But the worst insult was that you get this "huge" landscape (with nothing to see), and a horse with probably the most frustrating controls ever. You have always to "push" a key if you want to get the horse ruining ... and the behavior when ridding the horse ...

And because someone mentioned "soul". Well of course its impossible to really explain what is meant with it in relation with games. But since someone compared Two Worlds 2 with Gothic. Well Gothic was always a game that had a "soul". Two Worlds 2 is just boring.

- Also, Dragula. Serge loves Two Worlds 2. You should think about it ...

Mediocre mechanics? Tbh the magic mechanics is one of the best I've seen in a game. The horse controls are retarded, yes. But you rarely need to ride anyway.

The writing is not bad, the decisions are not bad. The writing is sloppy in some parts, yes. But it's not bad.

The combat mechanics are great for the most part.

The alchemy mechanics are sweet.

The graphics are terrific.

I think you are being overly negative about it. I don't know what you expected. A Planescape Torment? A Skyrim?

Then I'm lost as to what he compares it to. It's a open world RPG, you can't really compare it to Fallout 1 or 2.

Dead Island (Coop)
Saints Row 3 (More Coop)
Just Cause 2 (Future Coop)

I'd buy the THQ collection too if they didn't fuck you over by not giving you extra copies of the games you've already got tied to your account.

Oh well, their loss.

The sales have been pretty much wasted on me as I already have most games I like.
I would consider picking up the many Indie titles I like the looks of but I doubt I will ever get to them all and then it seems rather a waste of money.

The only games I have bought are;

Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2. Not so much for the games themselves but for a Star Trek FPS mod that is in development for them.

Cryostasis. I understand its a rather linear game but that it has a very nice story.

Does anyone here know if Risen is worth playing?

I'd say yes, very much so. Especially if you have played and liked the Gothic series. We've been comparing Two Worlds to Gothic because they are similar action-y RPGs, but Risen is pretty much a carbon copy of the Gothic series with a different setting - all the way to the anticlimactic endings! It was developed by Piranha Bytes, the same company that developed the three original Gothic games. A few factions to join, wooden but satisfyingly difficult combat, a limited amount of equipment(that usually has to earned), a sprinkle of C&C - but definitely worth $10 and your time.

Now.. Risen 2. I've avoided it; Terrible reviews, but I haven't really kept track as to why people haven't liked it.

I liked Risen 2 well enough, but yeah, it's got some off-putting parts. Many people hate the combat system, and exploration is kind of hampered by the island design. My review
