Legion Appreciation Thread

A game about the fall of the Legion could be fucking spectacular! You'd have a bunch of fanatics all emulating historical/mythological characters (like Spartacus, Romulus/Remus, Augustus Etc.) that they don't actually have an understanding of all warring against each other for control of the Legion; meanwhile the army slowly falls apart as they regress to their tribal ways and fall to the mercilessly expanding NCR.

Maybe have the NCR weak and trying to withstand the rampaging Legion. You know... please write your own ideas on what would happen. It seems really open and full of ideas.

Well the NCR in this theoretical game wouldn't be huge either, since it would be basically scouts pushing forward. All in all the game would feel more like small groups going at each other than the full war presented in NV. Possible end game scenarios could include supporting the NCR enough to have the main force come in later and take Colorado, or reuniting the Legion under your banner (by diplomacy, force, or a combination of the two). You could also probably have another group, maybe people living there who just want all these groups to leave them alone (think bigger scale Goodsprings or Shady Sands) and you rally other settlements to help. This would not be done Preston Gravy style, rather with each town having a complex quest line to either gain their support (or possibly lose it while gaining more materialistic advantages, a lá Junktown).

In my mind the NCR would be forced to expand after taking the Mojave in order to defend their interests there but I'm no military tactician so maybe expansion would be unnecessary.
Either way, I don't think the Legion have a chance in hell when it comes to conquering important NCR territory. Lanius does say that he plans on marching onwards while the NCR army is in retreat but the NCR would never be so stupid as to let the Legion take Reno/Vault City/Arroyo/any important city, I imagine they'll only ever be able to take small scale settlements and resources and then if the NCR forces regroup and attempt to retake any lost territory chances are the Legion would be forced to give them up.

Unless the NCR was weak and financially ruined by the failed war effort. And anyway, the idea of several key NCR cities in the sea of raiders, independent and legion territories could be interesting. The player could help the NCR, the Legion or the various independents.

It would be nice to see the NCR get its ass kicked, maybe the Legion and Khans can rekindle old flames, finally get some revenge for the raider camp, vault 15 and, Bitter Springs massacres (not to mention getting to see the Reno families on the cross). It'd be a fascinating new look for land we've already seen so why the hell not? Caeser for the win.

Huzzah! Finally, more converts... I mean likeminded people!

Considering the "potentially corrupt democratic military force" victory has been explored in nearly every shooter game known to man, I would say that a Legion victory would be a nice, fresh change of pace, though I don't expect myself to side with them in-game nevertheless.

I advocated in another thread a while ago a scenario where Caesar ensconced in the Lucky 38 becomes a new House like figure so that he could live long enough to oversee his cultural synthesis

That would work out well for Caesars whole god-king persona, but I wonder how Lucius and the other Legion soldiers with brains would take Caesars use of tech for immortality in a luddite/no medicine society.

I doubt Caesar could use Mr. House's tech. House was probably in the best physical condition to ensure he survived as long as possible and was keep in a perfectly sterile environment. If Caesar or the Courier opened it it'd be contaminated. Plus I'm sure it only works for House cause he seems like that kinda guy.

Well I'm sure Caesar has a few slaves that have the capability to repair and sanitize Houses tech and, the Courier could always have the Followers of the Apocalypse help him out (in the Yes-Man ending at least) and he could have the Think Tank lend a helping hand in a Legion/NCR victory.

Mister House was the only person with the knowledge of that technology. And he was very cagey about letting his secrets leak out.
I mean, Fallout science is just an asspull plot device most of the time, so you could very well write that, but I personally find it implausible.

I bet the Legion would just raze The Strip because it is a place of sin and debauchery even worst than Nipton.

Even you have fallen to the Legion! HAHAHAAHA!!!

I imagine the tech that the Think Tank uses to prolong their life spans would work well enough, of course if Caesar decided to put himself in a think tank he'd probably go mad after a while, but he wouldn't be the first insane Roman dictator so whatever.

Well... the madness of the think tank was engineered so possibly not.

Honestly I'd prefer death of Caesar and mass civil war with different factions.

I thought their minds were slowly melting away before Elijah came along and fucked them up, I haven't played OWB in a while though so I could be wrong.

I feel as though Caesar's death would kinda be a cheat to any players that completed 'Et tumor, Brute?', at least in the event that the Legion ending is canonical (which it probably isn't).
As an aside, has the Legion captured any locations that would make for an interesting Fallout game? I would love to play through the Legion's civil war but I'm not sure if they have a place where it could be staged, don't they just live in the desert?

I wish the Legion's uniforms were less Roman-inspired and instead had the appearance of more typical combat fatigues with some Roman-inspired features as opposed to the full-on Roman theme. I would want this change to be done in a future Fallout game featuring the Legion.

Actually the Legion had great fort-cities however due to time constraints there aren't any that are shown in the game. Also keep in mind that due to the civil war we could see moderates such as the Republicans or extremists like Lanius's forces. It could open up many choices. And yes it would be cheap, but we could have Caesar in hiding due to a coup by some of his followers who try to kill him. BLAH, BLAH, GOOD WRITING, BLAH, BLAH
