Main Questline: Better or worse than Fallout 3's?

Speaking of stupid, the reason the Institute kidnapped your son is one of the dumbest things I have heard with the only thing being dumber is the explanation for the Reapers in Mass Effect 3 by Star Brat. They kidnapped your son because the Institute needed someone with clean and radiation free DNA in order to perfect their synth making technology. :wtf: WHAT!? How the fuck is human DNA needed to make androids. This feels like something that Beth pulled out of their ass. What the fuck happened during the writing for this game Beth?

Why couldn't they have used you or taken you... you being left there is stupid.

Or killed you for deeming you a threat or fuck steal one of the dead bodies in those cryo pods in the vault as I am sure they still have pure DNA and would have been less of a hassle then stealing a baby for his mothers arms. I am very confused with this.

Probably a stupid alternative, but what if the player's son was some kind of child prodigy on the field of robotics and miniaturization?
He/she attended Commonwealth Institute of Technology before the war and because of that was eligible for a place in a Vault. (Vault 111's purpose rather than just testing cryonic technology was also to preserve some of the greatest minds and upcoming minds from before the war.

Centuries later the Institute starts to run into problems with their synth development project.
They learn from their records that other than House there was also a child genius attending the CIT who was going to make it big in robotics, advanced electronics, and cybernetics, and that he was put in cryonic hibernation in a Vault. So several Institute members and their escorts are send on an expedition to the Vault to locate this kid and bring him/her back to put the synth project on track again.

Hmm... the kid can't be a baby... and instead of having a nice little house they would have something far more protected... it's possible. Not the best choice but possible.

Sounds like they actually pulled this idea from Fallout--the whole Master needing non-irradiated subjects to create intelligent, or successful, Super Mutants and all.

Now it somehow pertains to androids.

Once again, we're putting more thought and bother into the story than they did.

So they're basically rehashing Fallout's plot with the Master, only instead of The Master it's Dadson. And instead of Mutants, it's Androids. That sound about right?

Oh my God it is! I never thought about that. Beth is trying so hard to out due Fallout 1 that its not even funny.

I haven't finished the main quest yet but so far I'd give it to Fallout 3. This main quest has worse performances and is much more cringe worthy, Fallout 3 at least had a central theme that fit with the rest of the world, I have no idea what they are trying to get across with this one but I don't like it. Also, Fallout 3 was inconsistent with Fallout 1 and 2 as everyone here knows but Fallout 4 somehow manages to be inconsistent with 1, 2 AND 3, so they are managing to contradict their own work, nice.

The notion of "pure-humans" has now been an essential plot-point to all the numbered Fallouts. Guess that and vague notions about the "Good of Humanity" are the default plot.

I FUCKING CALLED IT!

Do they go into details about how exactly their synth tech works? Like uh... Brain transplant? Or is it memory transfer by copying the neural patterns of your brain into a synthetic brain?

Eh, Blade Runner also didn't exactly say if replicants were robots or clones or something in between. And since they are going down the Blade Runner lane with the synths (seriously, the SAFE test? Just call it Voight-Kampff already) they thought they didn't need to care.

I always saw the replicants simply as androids. Artifical humans. I am pretty confident that one day, with enough technology, it will be possible to mimic a living beeing just like in Bladerunner, with artificial materials.

As infant? Maybe if the child was already at a certain age, maybe. But I doubt you can really tell from a 1 month of 1 year old baby what their preferences will be.

I find this whole focus on that toddler and the players family stupid anyway. It feels forced on the player.

Now that we are already talking about it, is there some explanation in the game why Shaun never cared to look for his real father? Or didn't he even knew that he was out of a vault etc.? Just curious.

Naw, there is nothing modern about bad writing

By modern, I mean post-Shivering Isles Bethesda. Some of their stuffs in Oblivion and Shivering Isles still have some interesting tidbits in the writing. Makes me wonder if they fired writers that handle Oblivion since the fall of quality is drastic. From badly-decent to mind numbing.

I see what you mean. Morrowind was their pinnacle, how far they have fallen.

if only talk about the main questline. I think is bout the same,in f4,fanally you can chose different side, jion the institute or bos or the other stupid NGO,
but consider you're going to find your son,and now you find he,why cant you just go away, just like "oh I see you're ok then, bye",why should I still joint the stuipid fight?
in fallout 3,that's make much sense, you father died for the water purification machines,as his son or daughter you should finish what he haven't done. But in fallout 4,you son is still alive, and by their technology,he can live another 100 years and more.and even they have the invencible killing machine to kill whoever they want to kill, why bother me?

yeah, and the whole vault 111 is full of "pure" human, why just the baby and get all the other man killed.they can totally took the family to the institute.that just make no sense
And I really want to ask my son when I meet him:You are running the institute and you not telling you mother anything and don't even bothering your man may kill your own mother and now you asking me to do something for you??
while, that's totally make sense,I'm the mother,i take care of shit my baby make

I meant of course that the kid would be a pre teenager in order to make this work. Someone who on a really young age showed incredible scientific and engineering qualities.
