Megamod 2.43 technical issues and suggestions

I have tried with numerous versions of sfall, from the version that comes with MM, to the latest... all have the same problem with MM2.4.3

I suspect some script is doing something odd.
 
I got the same application error on win xp now, only with other numbers in the error message. - "the instruction at 00477b43 referenced memory at 00000020. The memory could not be read from"


It was in Klamath, after talking to Whiskey Bob. Initially I thought it was random, but it repeated twice....

I must say that I've played some previous versions of megamod about 2 and 3 years ago and everything was always ok...until now
 
try moving all the hs_* scripts and gl_* scripts away from the data\scripts\ folder,that will eliminate an sfall script causing it

I moved all hs_* (4 files) and gl_* (19 files) from data\scripts to another folder for a while but it didnt help
 
I'm sorry folks, but I have no more ideas about what is going wrong. What was sent out is exactly what I play on my XP machine (including the older version of sfall), and I haven't gotten any of these random crashes. I'll go through and compare versions 2.42 and 2.43 to locate the differences and see what might be wrong.

@bonczyk: Don't forget about gltsrain.int (just to be thorough, although I seriously doubt it, since that file hasn't been modified in over 2 years).

well actually the last error (in Klamath) did not make my current game completely corrupted and did not hinder the possibility of continuing game from the same save.

The error happened every time when, directly after loading a save in Klamath, I talked to Whiskey Bob, just the moment after I ended conversation with him and left the bar. But, when I decided to do sth else first, talk to few other people and AFTER THAT I talked to WB, the error didn't occur.... so maybe that is a way in which at least some of the random crashes can be avoided.

regarding gltsrain.int - this is the element of the weather mod, right ? (correct me if I'm wrong). I deleted it earlier (together with weather.ini in main directory), because I (1) don’t like the idea (2) know that it may cause problems with permanent perception loss...

anyway, I'll try to continue my game and maybe report some future errors of the kind mentioned above.

can try one thing,if the mod was downloaded from my site,move all dll files from main fo2 folder except for ddraw.dll,the others are shipped with my ProcessDat2.exe,dont have any other ideas,maybe thats what is causing it

Hello.
I'd got the same problem with Wiskey Bob, but I haven't anymore. It was when I was trying to find best non-default scaler for me. I was trying one after another, but all of them was either slow, ugly or both. And all of them caused problems in Klamath, black screens or game freeze. Then, after setting scaler to default, problems vanished. And it works fast and smooth, also.
So, bonczyk & michi, did you change something in ddraw.ini? My problems occured only after I changed some graphic options, default scaler works just fine.
And just for the record, I am using Win7 64-bit, Fallout 1.00 US and Nirran's MM Installer.

PS. Now I found that I however have similar problem. My game is failing when I end conversaton with Bob directly after he give me booze. But, if I ask him about anything after he give me drink, I can exit dialog without any errors.

Edit: Here is another part of bugs:
1) It seems that B-Team mod (NPC changing armor) does not working anymore. At least with Leather Armor or Combat Leather Armor, and both Vic and Sulik. I do some further testing when I find more armors and/or more NPCs.
2) Lara quest in Den is bugged. Just after resolving party fight in Residental, Lara says that they are going to church (and they actually going there), got XP, level, whatever. Then in a few seconds game freezes.
Renaming hs_ondeath.int solved the problem - game does not freeze nor crash after fight.
3) Klint refuses tu put down the spear after he equips it.
4) Starting FO2 directly from game folder seems irrelevant, bugs and freezez still appears in the same places as before.
5) Moving dlls (other than ddraw) also seems irrelevant.
 
I managed to go to Klamath without saving in Arroyo. When I got there I saved my game and tried to load. The loading issue doesn't seem to exist anymore. I loaded the game at least ten times without a problem in Klamath. But my Arroyo saved games still don't work.
 
a bug with klint caused a corrupt save if his armor was changed and then the player did not change maps,maybe that is the bug in arroyo?maybe the bug was not fixed(tho we tried like hell),please report if klint is in the party and his armor was changed

Add this to your megamod.ini file:

;set to 1 to use party armor graphic(wearing armor changes grphic),set to 0 to disable
party_armor_graphic=1


Since it is not there, the game assumes the value is 0 or -1... whatever, it's not seeing the value 1. Add those lines, and they should change their graphics again.

I cant seem to enter Broken Hills without an almost instant crash. Tried with the car and without it with the same effect.

party_armor_graphic=1

fixed my issues with companions, except for Klint who still refuses to put away his weapon and armor when asked.
 
Why at repeated preservation on one place, game is switched off with a mistake application error ??

old bug probably,klint saves will crash if you change his armor then dont move to a different map before saving,that be my guess

Question: Is the problem with save game resolved or is near to reasloved?
Ver. 2.42 work just fine, only sometime the CTD occur but this behavior is normal.
Ver. 2.43 is completely unstable. One save works, another no - is no matter where you are.
Also I find another problem: In Klamath example I read a book, click to save and CTD.
I always use playing the MM: Magnus Weapons Redone, HRes Patch and some mods from Nirran site(Books, Ammo, World Map & EXp Master) Whit ver. 2.42. everything works just fine.
The question is: what is new to the ver. 2.43? Maybe one of this new thing cause the problem.
