Mods you hate or dislike

- New Vegas Redesigned 3: if you want LE EVIL LEGION, feel free to use this. Otherwise, stay away.
You were talking about Vulpes? Yeah, that's absolutely ridiculous, but other than that the mod is much, much better than FCO could ever be and I vastly prefer using this or just Redesigned 2 because I can't stand vanilla faces.

But then again, Redesigned 4 is in development iirc. Even the author made a thread here once, asking for advice on what voice-acting would fit a character that's gonna be redesigned in that version.

Redesigned 4? Interesting. Hope it's less cumbersome to install than 3. I like Redesigned 3 but it's a pain to make work.

Jesus, a lot of butthurt Legion fanboys with the "I hate x mod because the evil, he-man women hating slavers are portrayed as the bad guys!" whining.
Here is the thing, most modders make mods for themselves and for fun and share them with the community out of the goodness of their hearts. The Legion is not a very popular faction with New Vegas players. Just look at the achievement list and see the number of people who sided with the Legion in the end game. It is very, very small compared to say, Yes Man or NCR. Especially Yes Man. A lot of people have problems with the Legions slavery and sexism. It doesn't help the Legion that the creators of New Vegas pretty much confirmed (during development, I know because I followed New Vegas the day it was announced) that they are pretty much the games bad guys only that you can side with them. As such, a lot of mod makers have the Legion as the default bad guys for their mods. Don't like it then blame Saywer or Avelone.

I am starting to see why a lot of mod markers put FAQs saying that they don't care about your immersion or if you don't like their mod then don't play it and fuck off.
VAT this stupid thread, please.

If there's one thing I can not care enough about, it's graphics. So I did not know about this New Vegas Redesigned 3, but I was curious about the Vulpes. And let me tell you, it looks like a great mod, loved Boxcars and Sunny.

I'll install it any monday.

Mod that I hate = Willow and Niner.

Depends on the game.

Something like left for dead 2 I will pick silly skins (Artorias from dark souls for example)
Games like XCOM or Paradox games or strategy games in general I will get lore friendly aesthetic mods and minor gameplay tweaks. Sometimes different scenario mods if I am bored.
RPG's or STALKER games I tend not to install mods at all (I usually play new vegas and the like without mods besides the one that removes the filter)

I dislike mods that are overly complicated to install or have "lore" friendly aspects that aren't really lore friendly at all.

I for one would never release a mod that does not have voice acting in it, then complain about a mod that does have voice acting in it. But we are different people. I can respect you as a person, but I personally feel you are not in a position to judge the character of Someguy2000. It colors you in a bad light.
What do you expect. He is bitching about the Legion being portrayed as evil slavers. No! You mean the mass murdering, raping slavers are horrible and evil human beings. What is funny is that Someguy, during development, asked both Sawyer and Avelone if what he was doing, like his portrayal of the Legion, was lore friendly and correct and they both told him YES! If you Legion fanboys get pissed at how mod authors portrayed the Legion in their mods then blame Sawyer and Avelone who have both stated that the Legion are pretty much the bad guys of New Vegas.
Jesus Fucking Christ. Legion fanboys I swear.

I kinda hate mods which ultimately make a shitty spinoff/game.

DayZ for Arma 2 wasn't very amazing in the first place, being a janky PVP-ridden mess.

Then for some reason they make an even shittier version, and people throw money at it.

Well, the reason is money. While I dislike DayZ for being a super boring game with no deeper point to it, I love it for giving BIS a fuckton of cash that they were able to reinvest into their projects. Especially ArmA3, which - to this day - is still getting updated and served with new features and content.

/Edit: Just seeing this.
So do some people that have no skill to make mods, who can't open a creationkit/G.E.C.K. Who have no talent towards writing, scripting, design, or any creativity for that matter. The only thing they are good for is bitching about things they know nothing about.

Don't like it, do better then that person, or help them get better.

tl;dr - "don't know how to mod = don't criticize". That's stupid. Usually you're making mods for people who play them, not for other modders... so you should probably listen to your audience. Of course, as a modder with no money attached, you can chose to ignore all complaints... but you won't be able to silence them folks.

That's pretty scummy... "Lets make a game which will never be finished or remotely good, to fund our super-niche game"

Arma is a nice series, abeit it needs to simulate armour better. *Grumbles*

In fact, they are developing a completely new engine with DayZ, and if I remember right, the next update with lots more features is about to hit the public soon. So it's not like there is nothing happening at all. Just priorities that need to be set straight.

On the topic of other games, I never liked the Randomizer type Mods/Hacks. The novelty wears off fast when all rules of the game are just thrown out the window.

the mod that i cannot stand the view is the COMPLETE mod for the stalker series he uterlly destroy the balance of the games and make them too easy

Similar reason why I didn't quite like Misery for CoP. Walked up to the first enemy, it killed me in two hits while taking more than a full mag of the starter pistol. Yay, uninstalled.

Typical armour worn by most people in the game, Level IIIA.

Level III armour will stop just about everything short of .44 magnum rounds and lighter rifle rounds.

Aim for the head!

Even the exoskeleton dudes will die from like 2-4 AP pistol rounds.

And its not like the player is weak, if he wears good armour, nothing will stop you barring headshots.

On the topic, mods I dislike would include lore-breaking re-textures, waifu companions with no actual story to them, excessively complex mods (that are difficult to install), and excessively powerful cheats/exploits.

I never quite got the appeal of Randomizers. In Dark Souls especially, I expect the novelty to run out fast as soon as your trusty halberd suddenly becomes a way too heavy Demon's Greataxe.

It probably makes for something to stream but I expect audiences to tune out as the streamer gets stuck in one area due to the randomizer ruining everything.

It was the very first snork that just ran up and straight up killed me in two hits.

;P Snorks are a toughie, the mutants don't have working pain receptors, and tend to have inhuman durability and strength.

A good shotgun and some skill easily beats them, starting gear? Not so much.

Best to run away.

You don't 1v1 punch radscorpions to death in fallout 1, no?
