Most Hated NPC's

I did find it interesting to have sex as a means of diplomacy in Fallout 2. I think it fits the Fallout style better than sex as a reward like in New Vegas. I felt disgusting for making my character sleep with Metzger, but at least it helped me free Vic.
:smug:
He 'enslaved' you.

Normally I would seriously agree with you (except the last part). I hate Legate Lanius, but I loved how you could talk him down. It made me respect him.

It made him more than just the monster everyone made him out to be. Not to mention more intelligent than he appears.

Until the day our armies meet again, Courier, I shall wait for you on the battlefield.

Yeah it changed how I viewed him. Still an asshole but a less dickish one.

I decided to make a list of NPC's that I hate and Love To Hate.

For the NPC's I hate I decided to categorize them based on how they make me, loathe, detest, disgust, anger and/or annoy me.

RangerBoo's List of Hated NPC's:
  • Dr. Li (My God was Dr. Li's character a unsympathetic bitch. After seeing your dad die she puts all responsibility on you and goes around saying woe is her. After you wake up two weeks later from starting the purifier, the bitch leaves you while you were in a coma without leaving you so much as a note or a thank you for all you've done. Again, bitch.)
  • Amata
  • Residents of Vault 101
  • Gary Clones (Just... no.)
  • Roy Phillips
  • Three Dog
  • Eden
  • All of Little Lamplight (Is there anything in video games more irritating then children in Bethesda games?)
  • Tobar the Ferryman
  • Those fucking cultist in Point Lookout
  • Desmond Lockheart
  • Professor Calvert
  • Everyone and thing in Mothershit Zeta
  • Myron (Especially if your a female)
  • Lynette
  • Metzger
  • John Bishop
  • Citizen Sergeant Stark
  • Big Jesus Mordino (He helped create the Jet drug trade and got a bunch of people addicted to the deadly chem just so he can rise to power in New Reno.)
  • The Salvatore's (Did business with the Enclave selling them chemical components and slaves.)
  • Iguana Bob (Eww... He sold people meat!)
  • Doc Morbid (He chops up people meat for Iguana Bob to sell to unsuspecting people!)
  • Samuel Cook
  • The Van Graffs
  • Alice McLafferty
  • Jeannie May
  • Yes Man
  • Benny
  • Cachino
  • Mortimer
  • Saint James
  • Dermot
  • Cook Cook
  • Pacer
  • Colonel Moore (Bitch!)
  • The Think Tank (Yeah I know I am going to get a lot of hate over this one so sue me! I found them annoying as all fuck!)
  • Dean Domino (He is a real bastard for what he did to Vera, Sinclair and Christine.)
  • Ulysses (Instead of blaming the delivery boy/girl for delivering a package that they had no idea what was inside, why don't you blame the dumbass people who built a settlement on a nuclear missile silo and should have known better!)
  • All the residents of North Vegas (The ire of my NV playthroughs! Hate them! Hate them all so fucking much!:evil::evil::evil:)
  • Everyone in Fallout 4 and its DLC's (You know, I could list all the characters I hated from Fallout 4 and its DLC's but I am not because if I did then this list would take up three pages.)
Now for my list of characters I love to hate. With these characters I couldn't help but loving to hate them. They are worthy rivals/villains who don't make petty excuses or throw a pity party for the acts they commit. One can say that I even have a little respect towards some of these characters and even find myself agreeing to some of their beliefs, which to me is scary and what also makes a great rival/villain. When ever they showed up a smile always crossed my face. Now for the list:
  • Lieutenant (The fact that he is voiced by the late great Tony Jay also helps. On a side note I always got the feeling that the Lieutenant seemed to enjoy his job a little too much.)
  • The Master ("Join. Die. Join. Die")
  • Caesar (What is scary to me about Caesar is how I find myself agreeing about what he says about bureaucratic corruption and how it needs to be handle. A good villain makes you question things and Caesar does just that.)
  • Vulpes (Like the Lieutenant, I always got the feeling that Vulpes seems to enjoy his job a little too much.)
  • Lanius (I expected a blood thirsty brute but instead I came across something with both brains and brawns.)
  • The Legion in general (I just can't help but love hating the Legion. They enslave innocent people, treat women like shit, brainwash kids and go out of their way to commit evil and terrible acts. But there are reasons for why the Legion does what they do instead of "LOL were the bad guys!" The Legion is a slave army and they need more soldiers to replenish their ranks and as well as more slave labor. They treat women the way they do because the Legion practice the principal of minimax. If they let women serve on the battlefield, why that could be the death of half a dozen to a dozen prospective soldiers which they need for their military campaigns. They commit atrocities in order to lower NCR morale and get the locals to back off and surrender. The Legion wish to bring order at any cost and don't care or make excuses if they have to break some eggs to do so. They do what they do for a reason and they have a clear cut goal, unlike a certain other faction in Fallout 4.)
  • Mr. House (Mr. House is quite condescending, prideful and arrogant but at the same time I would argue that his arrogance is earned. He stop most of the missiles from the Great War from hitting his beloved city and brought back a actual economy into the Mojave. Can't help but respect the man for that.)
  • Elijah (He is one determined bastard. He manged to escape capture from the Think Tank, avoided being assassinated, suffered from Mentats overuse, arthritis, old ages and walked hundreds of miles in order to see the Brotherhood as the dominant force in the West Coast wasteland. Can't help but has a little admiration for his determination.)
And that is it for my long, long list. :drunk:I must say that this was a fun one to make.

This thread makes me laugh because every time someone posts in here they keep mentioning characters from Fallout 3 that I completely forgot about but remember them straight away as soon as I read their names. Dr Li, well you said all that needed to be said really @RangerBoo.

EDIT: What, you don't like Gary?

Don't blame ya.

Moira Brown : what happens when a group of devloppers that are totally unable to make good characters decides to intentionally create a bad one.

Little lamplight children : First game of the series that have invincible children. What is the best way to use them ? Have them being both necessary to the main quest and antagonizing your character at every step. No matter how you built your character and what was you behavior in the rest of the game, you will end doing the dirty work of ungrateful toddlers. Even ignoring them is not an option.

Baby ghoul in the fridge : didn't play fallout 4 but knowing their actually made that char is a pain in the arse.

Liberty Prime : Does it need explanation ?

Tbh moira is hands down the best character in fo3. She's the only one with some semblance of personality. I never understood Why people didn't like her.

The whole concept of a wasteland survival guide is pretty silly. This is the only world they know for the last two centuries. If they can't survive in it, you would have enc untered no one when leaving your vault. She pick the least knowledgeable person to help her as your aren't a wastelander and she risk your life like it was nothing, for pointless reasons, she is involved in too many quest, her voice is awfull and there is the ghoul event...

I liked her voice:shrug:. It's really the only memorable one in the game aside from that "old man" voices that was shared by literally every old NPC. The ghoul thing is a lore problem not a character problem. And why is being involved in quests an inherently bad thing?

Better give more quest to a more relevant character, someone they didn't made purposely as the worst possible.

I actually like Moira Brown. She has some personality and is the only one trying to improve the situation on the wastes (since no one else never did much in 200 years). The VA is without a doubt one of the best in the entire game.
The reason she gave the quests to the LW is that no one else would do them, also pretty much everyone avoids her as much as possible (some Megaton Settlers comment that the player should stay away from her and that she is "a little different").
And I also like how we can do the quests, do the quests and optional goals, how the quests have different results depending on the LW SPECIAL values, you can lie about the results, how the reward perk is actually several different perks and the one awarded is dependent on how you do the quests/optionals and how you pick to report the results, or you can just crush Moira's dream by telling her how useless that idea of a Survival Guide is (speech check) and get a different perk reward (Dream Crusher) and she gets a better repair skill (from 24 it jumps to 54) and the player gets a permanent 30% price discount from her store, because she starts to focus on her job instead of following her dream and she also stops being as cheerful and carefree as she was before (pretty much the only character in the game who realistically changes personalities a bit due to the player's actions).
Moira Brown and her dialogues and quest are the most RPG part of the entire Fallout 3, if the entire game had this much put into all of it it would have been a much better game...

So you must like her voice in Fallout 4 then too.
My list of most hated NPCs:
Every Bethesda 'Fallout' NPC, including the player character, equally.

I guess someone already said that, but, just in case...

(...) Another settlement needs your help
