NFL - week 13 seems like as good a week as any

The game being totally unimportant to the playoff picture and both teams putting it all on the line. Rarely if ever will you witness such a thing in itself.

Wherd I geta mah PHD? Not sure? I do know that usually where there is smoke, there is fire. With all the reports of the "crafty" way the Pats have been obtaining their intel, I tend to look down upon them.

The more I think about it, I think the attraction to the underdog is something that America (and the world) has found attractive for some time.

If only the CIA was so good..........

Josh Brown is my frackin hero! Taking out two guys that had the potential to run the ball all the way back in one game, is no small task. The fact that its not the only time he's done this... Pure pwnage.

Wow, quite a few upsets today so far:

-Panthers over the Bucs
-Falcons over the 'Hawks (wut?!?)
-Texans over Jags (the fuuuu....???)

And so far, Washington's not looking too bad against the Cowboys.

Granted, the 'Boys do their best work in the second half, but I'm a bit surprised Washington's doing as well as they are.

Interesting Sunday.

What?

You must not be paying attention. The Cowboys, Seahawks, Bucs and Jags were all locked into their play-off spots, all of them being division winners excepts the Jags, who were locked in for 5th seed in the play-offs.

They weren't playing for anything. They weren't upset, they just didn't care.

sorry Kharn, but that's a fairly sophomoric assessment.

are you saying that Romo was in three quarters of the game because they didn't want to win? or that nobody actually plays to win, for the love of the game anymore? bullshit, that's just silly.

and for the record:

"Dallas rushed for a franchise record-low 1 yard (on 16 carries) as Washington controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball."

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

ok, wait...what i meant to say was:

AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

edit: i guess this is also a symptom of the 'Boys "not caring" too then, huh?

"The Cowboys played their starters into the third quarter, before removing most of them from the game. ... Dallas finished 0-for-11 on third down. ... In his last three games, Tony Romo has thrown one touchdown and five interceptions. ... Moss has had only two 100-yard receiving games this season -- both have come against the Cowboys."

*pfft*

"Locked into their playoff spots?" Who cares? They still lost today. The games don't count for anything, but they make the losing team look bad, and in some cases the winners keep their playoff hopes alive.

I wasn't talking about playoff spots or anything; that stuff was pretty well solidified about two weeks ago. I'm talking about actually playing the game. And based on that, the wins I mentioned were upsets.

Heh.

I'm sure all those teams are home crying in their hankeys that they were locked into their play-off spot before and are now still locked into exactly the same position.

There were about 4 games going this weekend in which people were still playing for something, Pats-Giants amusingly one of 'em. You could tell when there was and you could tell when there wasn't something to play for, as is always the case come week 17. If you want to believe the Titans would've beat the Colts with a play-off spot in the line, or the Falcons the Seahawks or the Texans the Jags, go ahead. If you're naive enough to still believe there's no difference for these professionals for trying for play-off spots, playing in contract years and that kind of stuff and want to believe a significant part of them are still playing for love of the game...

Sure you can pretend it doesn't matter, or that whether or not you play your starters is the only factor of significance. If that's what you want to pretend, go ahead, no skin of my back.

PS: yeah, the Boys have been weak for a month running, they're a different case. Not sure why you're gloating about that, but it is what it is.

Amusingly enough, with the Boys being like this, nobody can stop the Pack's superbowl run except...

...

...the Seahawks!

Shti!

And based on that, the wins I mentioned were upsets.

How do you define "upset"? Because a lot of those wins were predicted, the spread favoured the Titans, the Falcons, the Texans, etc.

According to the bookies, the only upsets were: Bears over Saints, Broncos over Vikes, Ravens over Steelers. The rest were predictable and, hey, predicted.

oh come now, don't get pissy with me, i know you love my body.

anyway, i'm not arguing that there are varying levels of emotion which go into a game that needs to be won. but you sort of wryly stated they were playing for nothing, which just isn't true. no team, or organization really wants their record to show one more loss, and no player wants to lose, ever.

if they did not care at all, none of these teams would risk ANY of their starting line-up, especially their quarterback, yet they all played yesterday. in fact, i know some starters with limited playt-time sort of look at the first quarter as "the game" and some coaches hope their starters can put them ahead enough for the second and third string guys to keep the lead, if nothing else.

now, as for why i'm gloating about the cowboys...i described it in my first post in this thread. i HATE that team, and have since i was a kid. i know, being a packer fan i'm supposed to hate the Bears, but i grew up loving Walter Payton...so that's out. i hate the 'Boys...and watching them lose is nearly as fun as watching the Pack win for me.

yeah most of upsets on Sunday were by teams what were clinched and weren't PUTTING IT ALL ON THE LINE. Keeping your roster healthy and depth charts open is priority #1 for playoff futures.

NFC blows.
There's not one bonafide "scary" team.

I don't think Dallas or GB could beat San Diego, let alone Indy, Pitt or New England.

Once again the conference championship will be the game to watch and the superbowl will be a joke.

I'm calling Trifecta for Boston - Sox, Pats, and Celtics. Bruins? notsouch

Thanks for your well reasoned, supported point.

Dallas is clearly the best the NFC has to offer.
Please tell me who of quality have they beaten?
They barely beat mediocre teams like Buffalo and Detoit.
They've looked like shit the past month.
The Pats smoked them by 21 points.
TO is injured, Romo is cooling off, their secondary is like a seive, their 17th in the league rushing.

I know for a fact that GB would definately beat SD. Anybody who thinks otherwise might as well watch soccer or play with themselves in a game of hide and go fuck yourself.

Stop trying to impress your boyfriend.

Dude, there's the NFC, and a step above them is the Colts, and a step above them is the Patriots.

Dallas, Green Bay who gives a fuck. Neither one are in the same league as Indy or NE.

Enjoy your little NFC championship game, because it's the only hardware you're winning this year.

yes, and enjoy living out your life as a clueless douche.

but i mean that in the friendliest way possible.

Yes, almost as much as you enjoy making ad hominem attacks. Call me fucking retarded, a clueless douche and a nigga, but don't refute or contribute anything on topic.

The NFC is inferior and it doesn't matter who represents the conferences in the Super Bowl. The AFC's best are a cut above the NFC's best.
