OXM article excerpts

There are probably also more former Fallout devs working on SC II than on Fallout 3.

Yeah, I remember when they did the public poll to gather feedback. See here.

What can one say? Bethesda's no Blizzard.

Hopefully this game will be a big hit. Then Fallout will truly be dead for good.

Graphics are like sound systems - you spend a million bucks on them and after a week you're no longer satisfied. How many games with "killer graphics" have come and gone since Fallout was released? How many of those games am I still playing? Very few, but I'm still playing Fallout from time to time.

This is a totally different game from Fallout. It's all flash, and it won't last.

Every time some one contributes to FINO, a kitten is vivisected and condemned to hell.

(If you thought that last bit was kind of funny, you didn't fail to catch the meaning.)

I'll weigh in here, though it is rather late in the game.

None of the screenshots impressed me. Yes, the one with VD and Dogmeat walking into the sunset looks very Fallout. It damn well should, since it's a recreation of the endgame screen from FO1. And that right there typifies Bethesda's entire approach: take recognizable elements from FO1/2 and wrap them around Oblivion (i.e. "the type of game" that Beth makes). That certainly does not make this a Fallout game, any more than two arms, two legs, a torso, and head make a human being. They have a few pieces of Fallout, but they do not have the essence.

It's kind of sad to see Emil drinking the Bethesda Flavorade, since I really enjoyed all the Thief games. Particularly disheartening is his defense of Beth's purchase of Fallout rather than developing their own PA game. "But we wanted to make Fallout!" Fact is, Emil, Bethesda didn't make Fallout. And you're still not.

My guess would be the Postal series on that game of yours star...

Carmageddon started this whole thing didn't it? Ironically Carmageddon is older than Fallout. Man, that's a long time ago.
Carmageddon was an awesome game. I don't care what anyone says. Many childhood memories. Interplay brought many amazing things to us over the years.

Wow... just wow.. I'm stunned on how much Blizzard actually cares about their(key word) game as opposed to how Bethesda cares about things they work on. I sort of got lost in that link on Blizzforums.com. Thank you for posting that. I agree with a lot of the complaints. The tanks look way too "fat" and cartoon-ish. Sorry to get off topic. Its just Fallout 3 is no longer anything exciting for me to look at. I just have this hate for Bethesda now. They ruined a game that brings back many great childhood memories. Oddly enough, Fallout taught me a lot about reading(I could say Fallout taught me how to read but thats a bit of an exaggeration). When I was younger I had a some trouble, but the game was so damn fun and the whole world of Fallout took me by surprise. I really hate Bethesda for what they do and what they stand for. They are the EA of RPG's. I think SC2 will be great either way, at least they are listening to the fans. See, Starcraft is pretty much an icon for RTS games. Blizzard refuses to destroy the credibility the game has. And I love them for that attitude. Even their hack and slash has some credibility. Diablo was pretty simple but I was always a sucker for the story and the isometric view.
Some new thoughts of mine.... Fallout Tactics - Best spin off! I know its not accurate to Fallout lore but come on, the game has some really awesome aspects to it. Not much of an interactive story which is the main problem with it, but the story was pretty interesting. The videos from start to finish where very entertaining. Am I crazy or what? Sorry for my wall of text.

since the (local) screens are taken offline, i'll post a few pics of the new battle rifle shown in them.

it's basically a direct copy of a spanish CETME or alternatively an early HK G3 with wooden furniture. (and here's one with the now common black plastic furniture for completeness' sake)

Guns like the Chinese Assault Rifle or Fallout's signature 10mm sub-machine gun wear out over time; as a weapon degenerates, its rate of fire slows and it loses accuracy.
in general, fouling slows the rate of fire, but wearing boosts the rate of fire (examples: the autosear starts to wear out or the gun starts to slamfire)

@Suaside- I never was crazy about nuclear cars.
neither am i.

but in a FO mindset, you can still have an airliner on microfusion fuel cells, i suppose. although their use would likely be very restricted to save power for the army.
but then again, airliners are used by the army to move troops around as well.

More resembles FN FAL from original Fallouts.
*sigh*

not only did i name it, i also went out of my way to provide 2 perfect pictures for you to check.
but no, you go off to wildly name a gun that could not be fucking mistaken for the gun posted by anyone with half a clue about guns.

seriously, it has all CETME/G3 hallmarks (most notably, the connection of the stock and the shape of the furniture are dead giveaways) and misses nearly all of the FAL/L1A1 ones (except the magazine well shape on the right side of the gun and with some imagination the similar receiver)...

Most (sane) Europeans don't have half a clue about guns, though.

Which is why I can never care about stuff like this. It doesn't bother the consumer, so eh.

Hell, I'm not even sure what your issue with this gun is...or if you're even having an issue.

His issue isn't the gun, it's that guy's inability to click on two links and see what kind of rifle it is.

Well, yeah, agreed on that point, but I was referring to a few post back, in which I think he complained about the guns. I'm just trying to make it clear that from my perspective, it's unclear if he's even complaining or what he's complaining about, and pretty remote to care.

Gun nuts often don't get how little other people care :P

Ok, then you click this link and see how many modifications FN FAL does have.

It's silly to put such unfamous rifle as CETME into Fallout.

Uh. FN FAL has no place in the world of Fallout.

Yes...another user said that too :

Remember, you get this book at your 10th (?) birthday, so my guess is they tried to write it like a book for kids, simple language, short sentences and all this.. I don't like it very much either (this whole childhood, "press A to say 'dada'"-thing), but whatever...

Still it's written very bad !
"I make my friends all laugh and smile, and never want to hate !"
?!
and never want to hate ?!!!
that last part makes the poor kid confused !

the growing up stuff is cute, but i sincerely hope we can skip it. previous beth games let you skip that crap.
Which ones are you talking about? Not Morrowind or Oblivion, that's for sure.

i'm referring to the fact that you don't have to do all the growing up bullshit (this reminds me of the questions morrowind asked to find a character type), rather, you should simply be able to pick stats, skills, etc. quickly, or choose a premade char.

as stated below:

Morrowind has three in-game approaches to character creation: asking questions of the player to find a corresponding pre-made characters, letting the player pick from a list of pre-made characters, and letting the player create a new character manually, picking skills and abilities for their character personally.

if i have to go through the silly little press A to cry / say dada and 10th bday party crap everytime i start a new game, i'll be pretty ticked off.

temple of trial all over again eh?

Looking really good. Compared to the old demo video I saw, they have made a lot of improvement. Thanks.
