PERKS: THE POSTER REVEALED.

I can't believe people act excited over the amount of perks while skills and traits are taken away. It's like you take someones house away but give them a cardboard box to live in instead and them thanking you for it.

They are idiots, they also love using the "Quality over quantity" defense when you bring up the lack of endings. So they also have some rather heavy cognitive dissonance.

First, they added a voiced protagonist, and I was neutral about it. Then they took away the skills system, and I didn't like that, but I was still willing to see whether they could do something well with perks. Then finally they confirmed today that there are no traits. This last revelation was the tipping point.

Walpknut, you once mentioned I should say "Fuck Bethesda" with pride. Today's the day I proudly say, "Fuck Bethesda."

Fuck them and their Fallout 4.

When we're talking about the amount of perks, are we counting a perk with 5 levels each of which adds 5% to [whatever] damage as five perks or one perk?

Since if it's five, I just came up with an alternative system with *really* fast leveling and tens of thousands of perks.

Well, the character system is better than Skyrim, but it's worse than NV or even Fallout 3.

At the very least, it's nice they're putting emphasis on SPECIAL. In reality they could have removed traits, skills and perks and SPECIAL, then gone for a full Skyrim "Streamlined" approach.

I'm betting a lot of those perks/ranks will be damage increases, like Skyrim.

That perk chart looks so fucking unintuitive(think Skyrim's vanilla UI). I bet it's harder to navigate that than than the difficulty of the game itself. It's like:
Friend 1: So how's Fallout 4?
Friend 2: Very hard
Friend 1: What's hard about the game?
Friend 2: It's like the UI is fighting you while you struggle to wrestle the menus into submission.

Rip in pieces Fallout 4.

But really, I think they even fucked over their audience they tried to pander towards, Now. Let's just hope they don't get GOTY. Objectively speaking nothing this has is game of the year worthy. This is legit 4/10 garbage.

It'll probably get GOTY regardless and no matter what the fans will still stick by and defend these heinous design decisions.

I don't know, MGSV seems to be getting enough Hype even post release and combined with solidarity for Kojima's situation with Konami it might get GOTY on that alone.

Literally the only thing Bethesda can and is willing to do is their marketing campaign. The fact that this works out so well for them says a lot about the AAA gaming audience. But, yeah, the real mark of quality these days is 'how much money was spent on advertising' and Beth knows this perfectly well. Why bother making a good game when simply telling people that it is good will have pretty much the same result?

It's much worse than that. In bethesdas eyes they actually DO make a great RP game. Not just pretendending to make a great one.

You know I think The Order should Photoshop the Perks poster to change it into the "Pecks" poster with different Pecks superimposed over the Vault Boys

To be honest I'd probably prefer it if they just made a straight FPS more akin to Half Life than Fallout. They're so awful at making RPG's I just don't see the point in them even trying. Just make a sandbox FPS game where you run around and shoot shit, and let the Fallout RPG die in peace. If anything a straight FPS with one set ending might actually result in a semi decent story for once (but as it's Bethesda I'm not holding out for that possibility any time soon).

It just makes me angry every time I see Fallout 3 and Skyrim and Bethesda's other crap being praised as great "RPG"s.
