Even with trained professionals, trying to run a self sustaining community requires a lot of work, dedication, and having the right skill sets. It also requires the participants to be of sound mind and body. Granted this is meant to simulate space habitation but the basics are the same.

DnD is just a shit rulebook generally. I've tried playing several times in a couple campaigns and it just never appealed to me whatsoever, I found it dreadfully dull and unengaging mechanically though I don't think the DM helped. The culture around it is cancer too.


I don't think it's anything necessarily to do with the ess-jay-dubya agenda since I enjoyed Powered by the Apocalypse which is deemed wrongthink by our big brained brothers on 4chan, but I would be lying if I didn't admit the tumblr bubble around DnD didn't further turn me off of it.

All that shit is pretty null anyway, like all the people getting their panties in a twist about the DnD races being rewritten so as not to be politically offensive or whatever. Who the fuck plays a DnD game and uses the prebaked setting unless you've got the imagination of a cum-sock. The DnD world is supposed to be generic fantasy land for a reason

They're rewriting orcs to not be inherently evil racially so as not to offend people. Okay says my DM friend, who already did away years ago in his setting with the idea of inherently morally evil species because it's retarded and limiting

The PC stuff only matters if it affects the actual crunch of the rulebook which it ain't likely to anyway

Oh it will. Already you are seeing people in the tabletop industry saying; "If you even slightly disagree with us then you are not welcomed to play our games."
I live about a hour from WoTC and from what I hear they want to "encourage" people to play D&D the way they want them to play and are frustrated that most people don't. They are trying to find ways to have people play their games the way they want them to play, at least that is what I have been hearing from those that work there. To that I say good luck. You can't force people to do something and most players will continue to use their imagination.

Good. I hope DnD gets knocked off its pedestal and people embrace the plurality of better systems out there. Trying to corporatize and control the tabletop community, something that should be inherently free wheeling and bespoke is just wrong.


There's so much stuff out there that does DnD better than DnD. You want dark fantasy? Play Shadow Lord or Symbaroum. You want epic high fantasy? Play Godbound. You want classic sword and sorcery? Play Conan or Runequest.

Want wacky freeform improv for your Reddit podcast? Play Powered by the Apocalypse.

Fuck the idea of spearheading the entire tabletop community and fuck doing it with agendas
