Political Spergatory or How I Learned To Love /pol

Not "he" did it. He just threw money at it. And gets the media attention while "his" engineers establish civilian reusable space flight while working their asses off like crazy as our beloved Musk here tours trough social media - much to the hate of his share holders - and the world stage.

I will never get this hype that people always build up around such technocrats like Musk when technological evolutions and progress is always a coperation between countless of people, companies and government insitutions. Space X for example, despite the impressive success they achived survived for years only due to government support and contracts before space exploration actually became profitable. Without all those billions of tax dollars thrown at at it we might have no SpaceX today. Not to mention the nearly 60 years of research conducted by NASA and Universities. And yet Musk in perfect Bond Villainesque apperiance reaps most of the benefits here. Big fucking deal. Let me throw billions of dollars at 100 "tech" projects that sound fancy and when one of them takes off I will be applauded like the hero that saves mankind too.

What about this Kickstarter project that wants to grow weed on Venus? Now that sounds like a great plan! Hmmm. I wonder if I should give them some 10 Million dollars or something.

Musk is mostly hype. Nothing more. Nothing less. When you dig a bit deeper into his history you even find the information that he was thrown out of Paypal. Yes. Thrown. Out. Just as how it happend to the previous company he had.

Max Levchin, the co-founder, and Peter Thiel, an early investor, fired Musk from his CEO role in 2000 due to many disagreements over branding and micro-managing.

Because apparantly his work ethic as a programmer and his personality was not compatible with teamwork.

I think one reason why I love Dune so much is because Frank Herbert made it a point of his work that idolising individuals and messianism is a dangerous thing.

He was never a great business man but he has the balls to risk his billions even while losing millions. You sound like you just hate people with money. Who cares if he built the fucking rockets himself? You likely don't care because Germany isn't doing it. I care because NASA sucks.

There were more cyclists hit in Texas and one is dead this time. Seems like only a matter of time before something like this came out with all the other iot stuff floating around. Dunno how much it’ll do. Bike lanes that arent used fir parking cars would be nice.

I like how everyone wants to bike around like a European in cities that are 10 times the scale in distance with no bike lanes. Most of these people deserve to get hit. Once in a while you'll see someone on a bike who actually uses the shoulder of the road who actually has a sense of curteousy. However these Californians don't come from planet earth and think that standing in the middle of the freeway is their right as long as they use the correct hand signals.

Yeah, that’s been said just about anytime bikes are brought up on here “they should be killed”. I guess I should just expect it by now.

Anyways, our cities are the way they are because of car industry lobbying so you need a car to get anything done. Also part of why we have so many health issues too. Both of the groups that were hit were as far over as can be, riding single file. The most recent death was the driver losing control and the first one was someone trying to roll coal and then… losing control. Tbh I’m not sure how much bike lanes would help. People are pretty belligerent on roads.

Get used to looking out for others at all times if you ride a bike in the US. Even if you get hit in a bike lane they often still don’t do anything.

Or just move to a place where it makes sense to commute daily with a bicycle like Colorado or New England or something. I doubt there's very many Europeans who visit DFW and then go oh I'm going to ride my bicycle

Do like we do in Denmark lmao.
On a side note they're really great when your drunk on your way home. as there is usually someone whom has for whatever reason left their bike/someone elses unlocked.

Yeah they only places here in the United States even remotely like that are in Colorado Portland Washington and some places north of Boston. I'm sure if you move to Kansas you can see the cars coming from miles away. You can go up to New Jersey and New York but I mean do you really wanna

You know it's so funny is that most people who own shares or like 75 f****** years old and they call the police when they see a someone wearing a hoodie

Wait, are Boomers in the US terrified of teenagers wearing hoodies too? I thought that was a weird Brit thing.

My beef with Elon Musk, is on an entire different plane. I live on a small ass island in the Baltic sea within the Danish territory. I'm an Alien enthusiast so Imagine my reaction when this shit flew over my parents house whilst I was sitting outside secretly smoking a joint

I am not sure if Musk is risking anything these days though. To me it feels more like he's often playing it safe. Just like most investors out there where they diversify their assets and see what works and then you stick with that. I think the last Time Musk took actuall risks was before Paypal when he actually was runing his own business - which well failed in the end. Again. Musk is an investor who's spending money generated by the stocks he holds from succesfull corporations. But even that is debatable with Tesla for example which some belive is overvalued but I do not know how accurate that is as I am not an expert and it's obviously a dispute between different experts.

But again. What Musk basically does is throwing money at fancy looking and sounding projects and watching what sticks around and what doesn't. And due to the exponential growth of interests if a company does take off the value of stocks can increase hundredfold which outweights the spending in those projects that didn't succeed.

I am not saying Musk isn't really spending "time" doing all those things, looking at companies and god knows what he does at 3 AM in the morning besides tweeting. But at the end of the day it's not different to the countless of other investors out there. It's just that Musk is doing it with a lot more money which he got trough a lucky once-in-a-lifetime deal by selling his "start up" to a large company before it collapsed.

Seriously if someone gave you like a 10 Million dollars to use as you see fitt you could do the same Toront. You're not less stupid than Musk.

I care because NASA sucks.
Maybe NASA would suck less if it had the budged of the Pentagon. The US military is the most powerfull force this planet has ever seen.

Elon is famous and has lots of money and lives in America therefore I hate him reeeee

Like seriously, you have no idea what you're talking about. I already know what happened. The DOW stock said lets make Elon look bad because we don't own him, so they hire a bunch of worthless faggots like you to write some smear piece about how he steals frenchfries at the cafeteria and then people like you who sit at home stewing all day long read it and feel like you're so smart because you got the prettiest fonted opinion that was verified by all of your brainless worthless friends to tell you how to think which is pretty sad.

It's almost like you want people to dunk on you so you can feel oppressed I'm sure.

Here let me try some real critcism on Elon.

The way he handled the Tesla demo on Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson could have been done alot better. However, he's autistic so I'm not really surprised that the lawyers took over.

And also, fuck Space.

TL;DR: Rich people okay as long as they don’t or can’t become robber barons again (I feel we’re gettin close).

I don’t hate Elon but he is a man with the largest net worth and so he has a lot of power. He’s has worker abuses and Osha violations in the past that still continue. He also causes market swings with his tweets about crypto and stocks. It also seems he doesn’t like the idea of increased income tax, or his stocks getting taxed.

Wealthiest man in the world btw.

This isn’t the late 19th century or early 20th. That being said, I think power concentrating in one place like this should be checked and balanced like everything else. Since he’s a business man it’s in his interest that this doesn’t happen as it could affect his bottom line.

It’s also hilariously ironic that the Soviet Union has helped to enable the world’s wealthiest man to be who he is. Talk about not realizing your party goals

Well on the flipside you have Jeff Bezos, who is horrible to all of his employees and treats them like shit. People actually like working for Elon and move across the country to do it because they actually have a vision to work on instead of being a mindless drone.

It's something you have to take into account. There's rich people who want you to become like them, then there's people like Bezos, Gates, Zuckerburg who basically say "Capitalism doesn't work and we should all be socialist except for ME because IM SPECIAL TEEHEE."

That's the biggest deferintiator in my mind when I look at these bloated parasites.

I don't claim any of my thoughts occur in the mind of greatness and I certainly am not psychic and can read peoples minds... All I can try to do is see the motivation of these people and alot of them are sick in the fuckin head.
