Racism

Yeah, and most people are racist, at a varying scale, including people from minorities and people who claim to fight racism. And while being racist is still wrong, 50% of the time, i think it is better to talk about why people are racist (which often have causes) than just tell them to shut up while preparing the torch. Sure, blaming a whole race is just wrong, but sometimes just have bad experiences over bad experiences when confronted with members of a specific demographic. Better listen to them and provide counter argument than answering with hate.

Oh my God I literally love you. This is honestly the way I see things, verbatim how it sounds in my head. Thank you

The question is: "What is racism?"
Do you use racism in the classic sense of "Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior."? Because this exists, and it is certainly a problem.
Or do you use it in the nebulous newspeak way of "Racism is power + prejudice" or some other redefinition that makes it unfalsifiably existent at all times, but only for one "race"? Because this is bullshit, and if you believe in this you should feel bad.

Of course it exists, it always has and always will. Racism is really just another brand of tribalism, and that's one thing we will never be rid of. For as long as we have been sapient enough to write we've butchered each other over what side of the river you grew up on. Just another part of our nature, really.
We're always going to be like this, any attempt to try and drill this behaviour out of us is about as effective as skating uphill in the rain.

Best thing you can hope for is that people will be civil about it.

well there's one way to get rid of racism that's guaranteed to work if you manage to pull it off.

I can see the renaming of the thread was appropriate, as Graves simply showing up in it answered the original question. :drummer:

Racism is evil.
600 Trillion Jews died in the Holocaust.
If you believe in White Genocide, you are a Nazi.

Weren't Jews white?
Jews are fellow white people whenever it comes to blaming whites, but they stop when it comes to taking action.
Memes aside, racism based purely on skin color is a purely American point of view. Jews were seen as a different race, as were slavs and basically every minute ethnicity.

As Hass brought up, Jews were not so much hated for skin color but more for being 'christ killers'.

The insular nature of the Jewish religion also didn't do them any favors either. Whereas most modern christian religions are evangelical, Judaism is not and the Jews never actively sought converts.

One could argue that the Roma are white and they are actively discriminated against and hated in Europe.

Here in America, not even skin color was a guaranteed protection. The Irish were pretty much shit on by everyone. INNA was a very popular saying in 19th and early 20th century America.

One must keep in mind that Americans were taught racism from the best, AKA Europeans.

Race itself is almost impossible to pin down, even if you begin throwing genetics around, the "frontiers" of a race against another is always blurry, there's no line, it ends up going to a kind of "Wer Jude ist, bestimme ich" - "I determine who is a Jew"

Race is defined by those who wrap their minds around it the most, and it is then imposed on those who were too busy living a life to give that kind of arbitrary shit much thought. The most obvious racial definition is visual, is someone browner than you, or whiter than you. Beyond that, we go into fun land deluxe, measuring facial proportions, Mick Jagger for example, is a black guy with white skin [insert laugh track]
Other definitions are linguistics, and - if it's even possible beyond just... assertion/accusation - what heritage one might have, and of course, religion-on-on-on (dramatic echo)

In the very end, the only ones who benefit from the definition of people into races are the ones who typically do benefit from divide-and-conquer type of policies. We are not a people, clearly, we are many fragmented peoples, we are weak and insecure, and we are always threatened by them other peoples, those guys, and those, and those *points, points and points*

we look towards our authorities, up on their thrones, and blink our Bambi eyes, we BEG them to retain power, we offer them our hard labour and our obedience, if only they will keep us safe.
They go "hmmmmmmmmmmmm!"
Our lips quiver.
They go "okay then"

A lot of forums I've been on did not even allow discussions like this, or anything about religion, gender, etc. Luckily, this place is a little more lenient with the rules. I like that.
Uhm, to be lenient with a rule we would need one in the first place.

You can discuss literaly everything here, as long it's not illegal.

We also kinda frown upon actual racism. Discussing racism and religion and stuff is fine as long as you don't try to proclaim that it's all down to genetics and all the black folks are just born stupid.
