The Ultimate Movie Thread of Ultimate Destiny

Nasty. IIRC there are not any violent scenes in Gräns.

Also new Ghost in the Shell (2017) sucks. Music is nowhere close to 1995 animated movie and lame ghost implant Kuzo cannot match the coolness of self-aware project 2501 either. Very disappointing.

Are you excited for Evangelion 3.0+1.0? Because I sure am! Plus, it comes out in June 2020. Finally, a fucking release date and a teaser trailer from the movie itself. I can't wait for this to be concluded, for the rebuild series been around since 2007.

It wouldn't be NGE if they didn't make you wait way too long for closure on anything.

For whatever reason, I can't bring myself to watch Rebuild films. Never even gave them a try, and I absolutely love NGE.
I guess I will (not) watch them.

I still need to watch the first Rebuild OVA to begin with. Also all the titles of Rebuild make me think of Borat trying to use sarcasm.

Barring any spoilers, things do take some radical departures from the originals, so you're not just sitting there watching a warmed-over redux, at least.

Honestly, the thing that probably keeps me most intrigued is the fact that there's solid visual evidence that the events of the original series may have fully transpired, making this all post-third impact (an ACTUAL in-world redo) but IIRC none of it is ever even indirectly addressed by the characters, as if no one notices. Half the draw of this series has always been trying to puzzle out the bonkers cyclical cosmogony of it with so little help and so many red herrings.

Watched the Dark Crystal yesterday in preparation for the prequel series and I enjoyed it. The puppetry still holds up in my opinion and is a very mature children's movie in comparison to the mindless drivel they make for kids today.

Okay but this is one of those times where a prequel doesn't make sense because not only do we know what happens we also already know how it happens from expositional dialogue in the movie so like... Why?

While unnecessary sequels or prequels are usually bad, I've heard good things and I am willing to give it a chance.

Unnecessary sequels and prequels have been great. Not as often as id like but often enough. Problem comes when you get into nonsensical sequels. Like Terminator 3/Dark Fate or Highlander 2. Those plots don't make sense to have sequels to them

Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars Vol. 1 & 2 are the best. Even better than George Lucas' Prequel Trilogy, Genndy should reboot the trilogy to match the brilliance of his Clone Wars.
Also, Is Star Wars dead yet? Because I wanted to see what Genndy could do to the three Trilogies. But I'm just wishing the impossible, so why bother?
