The Witcher Thread

I'm not talking about the subs; I'm talking about the dialogue choices. You have full dialogue choices written out and then, after you click on them, the PC speaks those exact words you just read. You know what I'm saying?

I'll say one thing though. I know it's probably a matter of preference but it's annoying to have PC say his lines exactly as they appear. It takes me out of the experience to have my character atually speak the lines anyway but having him say exactly what I just read is annoying. It's not a big deal, especially since you can skip them but I just don't see the point.

I play with polish voices and english subtitles so i pretty much enjoy hearing people talking, although in the start it was little "weird" I soon found polish voices adding to medieval atmosphere.

I prefer that over any other system if the the dialogue is voiced. One of my biggest problems with Mass Effect was the abridged two or three word phrase option. I would pick something expecting my character to say one thing, and he would say something completely unexpected. Having your character surprise you by saying something retarded and not anticipated is incredibly jarring, and really sucks the "roleplaying" right out the window.

All in all the witcher is decent, I'm interested in what these guys make next.

I really don't see where all the praise for the combat comes from though. It's satisfying at times, but I find it to be pretty clunky and wish I could avoid a lot more of it most of the time.

In Mass Effect there where written out lines but the PC said something else, that was kind of cool because you knew kind of what he would respond.

If the PC is to be voiced, Mass Effect system is the only one that makes sense to me. It wasn't very well implemented though since, like Snackpack said, the lines didn't always describe well what the PC would say. I prefer the lines to be written out fully and the PC to be silent.

I just started playing this today, and it is a welcome relief from having had to play FO 3.

I'm truly enjoying this game, massively.

What's the difference between the normal and enhanced versions?

Thank you very much, Starseeker.

I'm really enjoying this game, it's actually engrossed me more than FO3.

yup. And it seems it will be a some kind of an enhanced edition too. Improved graphics, new engine (really?), new animations.

So it appears this is coming to consoles. One less reason for me to get a new PC.
yup ! according to Wikipedia :

"On November 29th, 2008 CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher will be ported to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles and released as The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf"

I hope they'll botch it up and regard consoles as a waste of time. That, or the next Witcher game will be a multi-port shit like FO3.

Given that the NA PC release is already censored to hell, I wonder what would happen to the console version?

The publisher probably put them up to it, though.

Cutting nipples out of your game is censoring it to hell now?
I seriously doubt there'll be any form of censorship applied to the game other than the small stuff that's already in place. (less blood for Germans, less sex for Americans)

Actually, there were a lot more, but I am too lazy to name them. But of course, nipples get better press coverage.

They originally cut mass amounts of dialog out of the English version so yeah they cut a lot besides tits and ass.
