Things we learned from Fallout 3

[fixed] 644. Lots of people love the game because they have no experience with truly great games and are stupid or young.

;)

But in seriousness, Fallout 3 I think is a good game. I put Fallout 3 and Diablo 3 in the same category -- they fell way short of what they could have been and dropped the ball in many areas, some of those areas being very important, but at the end of the day most people still have fun playing them.

I can intellectually understand the massive faults in Diablo 3 and Fallout 3, but I still have had fun playing both of them. I believe the people who boycott the games are really just being whiny babies and drama queens, because the games are objectively fun to play. I was dissapointed with both games and felt let down by the designers/publishers, but that didn't stop me from having fun playing them.

Now, that being said, are Diablo 1 and Fallout 1/2 better than their 3rd-generation counterparts? Absolutely.

I don't think lots of Fo3 lover don't love FO3 but they worships it.
If they love it, then they should pay attention to what is flawed not just justifying FO3 with criticise Fo1,2,NV fans and Fo1,2,NV.

:Fo3 is poor game" is just my opinion so I was wrong to write "horrible".

I love 3 , not worships it.

Not young, wish I still was though.
Not stupid, though I keep reading FO3 snark threads and expecting an open conversation instead of mindless and useless fan bashing.
I get what you said after, but joining in on the bash is akin to calling someone a nigger and then saying "I am not a racist though, because I have black friends" .

I liked fallout 3. I could understand why some don't though...but it is good in its own way, IMO. I think it's quite ridiculous when people use the example "oh it's just a mindless game with a story that has no depth, the characters have no depth..fallout 1 is sooo deep". Its just stupid. Iv'e played the original and I've played the third, and enjoyed both, but there isn't some crazy deep plot or characters to fallout 1 as opposed to fallout 3.

Just because I wrote it doesn't mean it's my personal beliefs. Hence the winky face and explanation thereafter. Personally I like Fallout 3, and I am also personally baffled and dismayed that it has 91/100 on Metacritic, but I also don't lose any sleep over it. I had fun playing the game and think it's worth playing, and I disagree with both extremes (those who hate it and those who love it). Simple as that.

Don't take everything so seriously! Unfortunately things like sarcasm or just being silly don't always translate well over pure text.

Anyway these last few posts should be evidence enough, that the list of people's reasons for loving or hating Fallout 3 is vast and long. It's just one of those things where I think people are gonna feel how they feel and that's that.

I get what you are saying man, and saw the winky face.
Thats why I alluded to it by using the white guy racism excuse.
I was simply using it as a metaphor for how you snuck in a cheap shot. I really don't care about the personal opinions of whomever as I am able to form my own, independent of others views, and they are the most valuable. I understand the dynamics of this board better now, because I've been here a bit, but I have noticed a glaring double standard that the mods do nothing about, and I am no one to go run and tell, just here to try to level the field, in case someone of a similar mindset were to join and write off this site as grandfathered in or get-out (which is a pretty commonly held view of this site by outsiders).. I am simply trying to provide a counter-point to the often misrepresented notion that you posted that many here actually do hold as beliefs, and to let other people (who enjoy/ like/ love FO3) know that there are some people on here looking for an intellectual conversation on fallout 3, sans the fan-bashing and trite rhetoric.

if having fun excuses fo3 then it should probably do the same for heroin, as i am sure way more people have way more fun on heroin than fo3

as i am sure way more people have way more fun on heroin than fo3

I can assure you this is not true from personal experience. I'd rather play a badly written game any day than ever touch H again.

665???. You can put a .32 bullet through just about anyone's head but have them forgive you if you put your gun away :P
This reminds me of the difficulty slider in the game... I always got a kick out of that. At "Very Hard", even if you get a Sneak Attack Critical, it takes 5 shots to the head point-blank with a Silenced 10mm Pistol to kill Moriarty. Good times.

I think we're actually at 646.
646. I radio dj knows everything a 19 year old vault dweller is doing all the time

647. Radio DJ claims that the good fight is bigger than a 19 year old and his Dad, then goes on to report about nothing but said 19 year old.

649: You can't fire a gun if you're holding it upside-down. You can try tho, oh, you can try so eagerly!

650: the mesmetron is almost completely useless unless you continuously save and reload to get the daze effect, making the whole idiotic head explosion thing completely pointless

(oh wonderful, another weapon that makes heads pop. i totally didn't have any of those before)

Yeah I noticed this as well. Really pissed me off because I was excited to use that weapon. :x
