Three things I honestly don't get in Fallout 3.

If it's so freakin' broken, then bullets should misfire, jam, warp/destroy the gun itself and the gun should otherwise be hell to deal with. I think it would've been even more fun to have guns misfire on you if you didn't take care of them, and shoot yourself. Especially if it was possible to critical hit your head. Laser pistols exploding in your hand [same reason those laptops used to heat up and explode], flamethrowers misfiring and lighting your legs aflame, damaged Fat Man shells that explode upon firing...

... someone should make a mod for that idea there. >_> 100 more ways to kill/maim yourself in Fallout 3.

Did like the weapon breaking bit. Didn't like how crazy fast it happened. Understood it's use as a money-sink. Didn't like the overall execution.

Was hoping for more improvised firearms and the like, too. Wonder who's making all the weapons?

It's called bad design. If the entire purpose of durability is to be a money sink then you're doing it wrong (Diablo II did this). The best way to control how much wealth players have is by what you give them, not making them use it on stupid shit that ads nothing fun to the game. Don't get me wrong, durability can be fine, it just rarely is.

I think it also gave "repair" a use. Offhand, I can't recall all that many regular uses for it, though I might just be forgetting something.

You had the quest in Megaton for the leaky pipes (best quest ever), and...the elevator with the Rangers?

In a Fallout sequel I would like to see something like Stalker's durability system. Weapons did not break super fast, and jams were simply and intelligently done.

They only jammed when I was surrounded and outgunned by bandits or soldiers... But yeah, atleast S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s weapons didn't fall apart after one shot.

Also, you can't join the Enclave on the main quest.

Do not buy it, and if you do, don't play without mods.

I know this is 10000 days late.

But to be fair, you couldn't join the Enclave in F2 either...

Just to comment on VATS.

My opinion is that it isn't there for god mode, there are too many things wrong with it for that.It is there for Super-Cool fatality, look at that head explode in slow motion,Mode.

One thing that bothers me is how often you can shoot a grenade in someones hand,or in the air, from long distance with almost no hope to hit it.Impossible shots are often made and shots that should be made are often missed.

Lastly, and i don't know if this was also an issue on PC and 360,but going into VATS mode often froze the game on the PS3.

The more i think about VATS the more i agree with the poster who said it is broken.

That is nothing new for Bethesda.

Try playing Morrowind GOTY on the Xbox.Oops you can't because the game freezes constantly..Thats if its not dropping you through the landscape.

Damn. These guys deserve to get all the console copies of their games returned.

My uncle has told me that FINO3 and Oblivion are the only games that crash on his PS3.

WTF? But you can't join the enclave in Fallout 2 either!

At least you can talk to them without being brutally destroyed. But I feel that people should be intitled to thier oppinions, and if they like Fallout 3, respect it, or at least keep your emotions contained. I for one, love all the Fallout games. (yes that includes 3) But I did not start off with FO3, I got Fallout 1, and worked my way up from there. I don't know if i'm making any sense to you guys, but all I wanted to say is, just because it's not like the origionals, does not mean it's bad.

The reason why I do not like Fallout 3 is because both gameplay wise and storywise it doesn't fit the universe.

The world has suddenly become a lot more absurd, with people dressing like super heroes and no longer doing sensible things like scavenging Pre War places years ago or refurbishing structural sound buildings, building scrap towns instead.

Super Mutants have become mindless killing monsters while they previously were reasonable intelligent beings in general with which you could talk.

The Enclave is back despite that they should have been destroyed as an organization, and they have become an even more stereotype villain than before.
They also seem to have become dumber as they could not come up with a design or plan of their own, instead taking control of a water purifier some wasteland scientists happen to develop.

The Vault Experiments have become ridiculous, having nothing to do anymore with trying to test the various social conditions a crew of an interstellar spacecraft might experience during a journey or colonization, instead focusing on whatever stupid idea Bethesda came up with.

The player can become master of all with the basic game and Broken Steel DLC, while previously such an approach of becoming good at everything would not get you very far.

Conversations have become pointless and boring.

I completely get your piont, and it is a hard transition to get used to. Espetially the Super Mutants. But I still do have heart for Fallout 3, though I do agree that the older ones are a bit more superior. But maybe Buthesda will get it right the second time around. And at least it's not a god-aweful abomination bestowed apon the Fallout universe. But I really do understand what your getting at.

[Intelligence]So, you don't think Fallout 3 is a bad game?

Well if FINO 3 would had at least "good" dialogues I think most people here would have accepted it even as a sequel in "some" way. But the project wsa doomed from begining as most things had to be political correct and for a very very generic user.
