Do you think you could rig it to work with, say, Fallout 3 or other games?
Probably yes. But it's very low-poly. To make it good looking in next-crap games everything should be done from scratch: low-poly and hi-poly meshes, and all textures.

Anyway, Chapter V: Vault stuff...

Fo3's T-51b is not really high poly, at least to me. You know, as a challenge, you could try porting it. You never know what results you might get.

Oh no! There is these chair! And it is higher than 4 pixel! What would Todd say now?

Btw. open and close animations for the lockers would be nice.

The chairs and some tables might be a bit too big. The beds are looking ok too me, same with workbench and desktop.

I rendered everything with exactly the same setup I used for fixing mine stuff. I'm not going to change the size of one, particular object. If something has a good size, and other thing not - ask former BIS' artist why.

Other explanation can be: maybe it's a set for oversized PA? But in VB this nasty and extremely annoying design bug has been fixed, I think :ugly:

Anyway, more excavations in tiles stuff:

City/town/village/whatever in/on/around/whatever the mountain?

Cave:

Oh noez! Puzzles! :o There's more variants for each set of course.

There are junky and city walls (check VB's gallery at NMA). But I don't see Vault walls, or at least there's no such file names, or maybe they're stored in map files... Who needs them anyway...

Also, there are ground (and roof?) tiles...

The wood fence looks interesting and also these stalagmite or stalactite or whatsoever it is-stuff could be usefull if they get a texture that fits in with the rest of the Fallout 2 cave style. But not as a whole with walls 'n shit. I mean the stuff in the bottom right corner of that image.

Also the wood construction on the cave render might be somehow useful.

All of this looks really great in my eyes. Personally I don`t know anything about graphics, well I know something but its like I know what you are talking about but don`t understand what you are saying...

So what I`m trying to say is, thank you all for doing what you do. I may not understand what exactly you guys are doing, but it`s still enjoyable to lurk here and see what you have found from Van Buren.

All Mesa Verde stuff is looking extremely interesting... But no way of doing something similar. Sure, some simple wall could be done, but all this bridges/ladders stuff? :(

That is corner.

That thingy is a "ladder up". There's also "ladder down" (hole in the ground surrounded by planks).

Can someone take a screenshot of ground in existing caves? I need to make the "ladder down" to fit there. Yeah, I have no Fallout/Mapper installed...

Yeh, I know that it is ladder up. You posted no ladder down-thingy, so I would have created it by myself in combination of original Fallout art! :>

And yeah, that other thing is a wall corner. But with a bit work here and there, it could become a few-hex-scenery thingy like the cave scenery objects in the original games.

Of course, the stairs 'n shit are looking very interesting too, but getting this well done into the game would need a lot fiddleing around and I don't think that it's worth it.

So... will someone post damn screenshot(s), or one from hi-res patch of ground in cave?

Some of these Mesa Verde stuff will be very useful for sd2. But damn, all these walkways could either only be scenery for just standing around or it will be a horrible shitload of work to make it really walkable... hmm.

Yeah something like this. I need to pick up the color map from there for hole in "ladder down" thingy and as I said I have no Mapper/Fallout installed right now... Thanks!

Yay, that ladder stuff is exactly what I need. That "tribal" stuff is great too, but I think I need to paint over it a bit here and there.
/Edit: Can you make a few of that wood planks from the ladder separate placed on the ground? Then it would be possible to add some more variable scenery around the hole.

It's somehow funny how exactly it is like the original graphics and Bethesda couldn't do anything else than making everything how they wanted it and NOT like it was in the original games. Yes, Todd. Even your loved 4 pixel high chair is not like in the original games.
