why fallout 2 sucks (spoilers) (no I don't like fo3-4)

That reminds me, does the SPECIAL attributes in F1 and F2 max out at 10, or does it still go up besides hitting 'the limit', like having 12 Strength, but it says 10 on your sheet, but your weight is up to where 12 Strength is.
No, I think that only happened in Tactics. If you have 10 Str without a PA, you don't gain anything from the Str bonus when you put it on.

Many thanks, After the shit with 4, my mind was getting hazy on the effects of attributes. I do recall that if you took chems before leveling up, you did have access to perks that would be barred from you before if you didn't reach that requirement. Fuck it, I'll play F1 again first, then F2.

Oh yeah, I use that trick all the time to get Toughness at lvl 3 by taking some Buffout on chars with <6 EN. :P

"you were critically hit in the head for 0 damage. the bruise will look nice and make for good party talk."

okay.

"you critically missed and lost your next turn."

I'll just assume I completely missed... a lot harder than usual, then. right.

"tough alien was hit for 0 damage.
tough alien was hit for 20 damage.
tough alien was critically hit in the eye for 3 damage." (same person attacking it)

"tough sm deathclaw was hit for 2 damage.
Sulik missed.
tough sm deathclaw was hit for 0 damage.
tough sm deathclaw was critically hit in the head for 219 damage. the blow knocks him unconscious. tough sm deathclaw was killed." (b4 or after he was knocked unconscious though? oh, it doesn't matter? yeah, that's my point) (btw, same attacker again)

Hmm, maybe you are just really unlucky? I don't remember having issues with the dice rolls anymore than FO1. And yes, critical misses are a thing. You were probably holding the gun backwards. Takes some time to get it turned around..........

Y'know, this thread inspired me to play Fallout 2 with Narg/slightly modified Narg (unarmed instead of throwing), something I've never really done before. Time to fistfuck the world. Let's see how impossibru hard it is.
I'll play with the RP, though.

Why not unarmed instead of small guns? Go pure martial arts!
Narg is so shit though. :P
Then again I once managed a full melee playthrough with gifted and 2 int. 4 SP per level is pretty damn awful, especially when you get next to no XP because low-int playthroughs miss so many quests. Probably cheated a bit, though I can't remember if I grabbed APA early.

I again point to Atomkilla's aryan ubermensch run that involved a blind high ST/ENT/INT character with science and energy weapons tagged doing a mostly melee low karma run. Quite possibly the stupidest shit ever, but hey, it was fun :D
Narg is fine for a melee run, really. You're right, tagging unarmed instead of small guns would be even better.
What's quickest way to get a power fist?

Now I'm inspired to try a Bobo-run again, max strength, min brain, and a tendency to punch people who refuse to give quests
I have never actually finished an INT1 run, I only get so far, before I start to miss the oportunity to talk to people

So weak I am

I like to make unarmed characters with max luck with the Jinx trait, I usually have fun with that.

A Power Fist I remember usually getting is by beating Francis in Arm Wrestling in Broken Hills. Actually I think I usually pickpocket it, but with a unarmed character it shouldn't be hard to beat him in arm wrestling anyway (with or without popping a Buffout).
I think you can get one from the NCR, and another from Vault 15, of course San Francisco also have Power Fists. I think there might be a random encounter where we can get one too, but I can't remember.

Me thinks the OP playing badly on purpose at this point. The OP's tirade reminds me of a immature child unwilling to admit fault and choosing to blame the product for their own mistakes plus when others provide advice, OP refuses to take it in order to preserve their self-esteem and pursue their agenda.

I never understood that criticism of dark souls. its difficult, true, but there's no fake difficulty about it. if you fail 90% of the time its on you.
Agreed. So far in my own DS playthrough, I've only died due to falling off cliffs (I tend to forget how to jump so I end up rolling down cliffs instead of jumping onto the platform I need to get on). All of my deaths have been from my own mistakes and I'm capable of learning from them.

as for Power Armor, no, not even in Fallout 1 was it immune to physical damage. I had hardened Power Armor and still took good damage from Deathclaws, up to 23 damage, I think, which was a critical.
Even more so if you had a low Endurance score. Like I always do since I build high Intelligence characters all the time.

I'm not entirely sure, actually... I might have mixed it up with Fallout 1, which is over a lot quicker.

Might be, last time I played F1 I remeber finishing it at level 16.

Also, unarmed run is a hella fun. Don´t forget: best way to kill is to aim to the crouch. It´s glorious.

Yeah... One can finish Fallout 1 without reaching the levels one can achieve in 2 due to how much smaller 1 is compared to 2 (aside from using the Fallout 2 Hintbook).

Actually, did anyone finish Fallout while reaching level 21? With completing all quest I've barely reached level 14 by the end of the game, even then, the last two lvls were scratched in endless hunt for super mutants.

If you don't kill the Deathclaw in the Boneyard basement, you can kill tons of infinitely respawning ones on the level above until you're at whatever level you want. Just go in -> kill them all -> go out to the next map over and rest for a day or something -> repeat.
It's practically the only way to get Slayer/Sniper (since they have lvl 18 req) before the end-game if you don't want to grind on random encounters or wipe out entire towns. Only marginally less tedious than grinding random encounters though.

Usually you should be about lvl 18 when wrapping up Fo1. If you are lower than that you might have skipped something. Probably also depends on the character you've made, as not everyone can do everything. Doing a few caravan runs also helps. Never needed to grind encounters in any way (which i loath anyway).

I meant getting 18 before the end-game, i.e. before starting the cathedral and military base.
No fun getting Sniper/Slayer when you've already done one of them and are half-way through the other one.
