Too bad it's completely incorrect.

consoles, bringing you early 90s technology today!
What an absurd simplification. 90s computer with what hardware? How much did it cost? Hey, did you know that running a current-gen game at 720p is WAY more demanding than a 20 year old game at the same resolution?TheWesDude said:well, here is what we know about consoles graphically
ps3 = 1/4 1080 or 480x270 native resolution for games
1/2 1080 or 960x540 native resolution for blu-ray
xbox360elite = 1/4 720 or 360x180 native resolution for games
ps4 = 1/2 1080 or 960x540 for games, and full 1080 native for blu-ray
XboxOne = microsoft has admitted it is less capable GPU/architecture vs PS4
keep in mind, this is all at 30 FPS
by mid 90s computer PCs were doing 1024x768 @ 60 FPS.

nonsense. I have forgot a lot about programming, but I still know enough to tell you that the PC is a very standardized platform. You might have graphic cards and hardware from different companies, but the principles they work on really isn't different. Its not like you have to make the games for each graphic card individually.Serifan said:consoles, bringing you early 90s technology today!
I fucking hate seeing people say dumb shit like that. Don't get me wrong I know console hardware does not compete in terms of raw power the pc can push out but consoles benefit from using standard hardware because developers can focus on getting the most power out of what is available thus making great looking games on very out of date hardware to what is available in the pc. The PC platform suffers in games because of the so many varying hardware levels that developers need to cater for a large range of graphics settings and hardware levels that in the end real world performance suffers.
Where are you getting this weird half-of-1080p resolution for games thing? Why would they do that? Half of 1080p is less than 720p. What would be the point of regressing in that way, unless there's more to it than simply running at such a weird target resolution?TheWesDude said:kyuu
the PS4 will be able to do blu-ray 1080 native, but for games it will be half that
we do not know if the new xbox will be 720 or 1080 base, but it will have to be able to output 1080 because that is the blu-ray standard.
question is will it be able to handle 1080 native for blu-ray or not. we can expect that as the PS4 will not be able to do native 1080 for games, and the new xbox is less powerful, it wont even be able to do 1/2 1080 for games.

because their hardware cant handle it.
