Fallout 3: Fallout At It's Finest

A rewrite would be good because you can totally just retcon out the events of F3 as they happened and leave room for more creativity. It allows you to not have to worry about the continuity of the real Fallout 3, whether future or past that you're stuck accounting for.
But then again, you could just go nuts with it anyway and still ignore F3. Either way, ignoring F3 is the best way to make a game set on the east coast at this point.

Not at all.
The first depicts what we would identify as 50's styled, while the second depicts what they would identify as futuristic. These are not the same thing.
I still don't know what you're trying to get at. If I asked a guy to draw a futuristic laser gun then it's going to look 50's style because that is how they saw the future. That pic you show of the beth/interplay comparison look the same.

Edit: After thinking about it, I think I might know what you are trying to say. The technology in Beth fallout does not look like something the 50's would imagine. Because most of the tech looks like something modern people would make but with a 50's coat of paint. Like it looks kind of 50's but it doesn't feel 50's. Am I right?

That's it, yes.

About the Interplay/Betheda image comparison, notice that Bethesda's ruined areas have wooden telephone poles, and 1950's style ruined houses. Would 1950's pop-culture imagine that as the neighborhoods of the year 2050?

Though it's not canon —as many like to point out— Fallout:Tactics shows us a picture of Chicago (both before and after the war).

Chicago.jpg

The developers did have a contact at Interplay whose job it was to ensure that their ideas were not inapropriate for lore and the world setting. Sure, there are no Gothic [Gotham] statues on the buildings... but brand new brownstones and dead-tree power lines don't seem to fit the concept of a futuristic Chicago—nor any major city.

*But of course the original Fallout took place in the desert; it could plausibly have actual 1950's poles in some places. FO3 is set in Washington DC; not suggesting it, but I would have expected a Pentagon almost like something out of Warhammer 40k, as far as gothic architecture goes.

Fallout 4 even has Halloween decorations surviving 200 years, they actively and agressively don't give a fuck.

I get what's being said, but I still don't see how the settings of the original and new games are so different in some peoples minds. The original games going for a 50's anticipated future is really just background that is not experienced much, or shown. There is more that runs contrary to this in the og games if anything as I pointed out with the Wattz 200 laser rifle, conventional munitions, buildings and cars.

There are ww2 guns and 1950's cultural nods in the originals....

These are just different was of wording a design process that arrives at nearly the exact same place.

Huh, I coulda had fun here. Too bad it ended months ago.

If you look at some older Fallout subreddit posts, people say this forum was the start of Fallout toxicity.

You only need two words to use whenever discussing how little of a fuck they give about any and everything in Fallout.

Little Lamplight.
Oh c’mon, it’s just like Thunderdome! Remember? The worst Mad Max?!

Yeah. But Thunderdome had the Caveat that it still took place within memory of the Apocalypse and those kids being trapped there when the plane crashed. Lamplight is over 200 years later BECAUSE FUCK YOU MOVIE REFERENCE.

Fallout 5 will feature Tina Turner, but as herself, both to fuck the Fallout timeline and to make another reference to Mad Max.

Fallout 5 will feature the adventures of the Single Perambulator, the only person to ever leave Vault 404, A Vault no one entered and ever left. also we got Tina Tuner, fuck you give us money.

A settlement of only children that expel anyone that grows up too much because of distrust of adults could've been interesting to explore, some Lord of the flies shit... but the game was written by Emil Pagliarulo.
