Fallout 3: Fallout At It's Finest

To be fair, there’s a lot of newspapers and shit lying around in the original games. Then again, they had only been out of print for 80 years, not 200.
Can you refresh me on that? maybe I am too blind and didn't notice them on the isometric view, I admit I am kinda bad at grabbing details from that kind of style.

These are just different was of wording a design process that arrives at nearly the exact same place.
Visually then... ;)
For reference: A 1950's tractor

Here is an actual 1955 idea of a future tractor:

Example of a modern [admittedly sardonic] idea of a 50's inspired tractor:

Well after a quick search I couldn’t find any newspapers specifically, so perhaps I’m misremembering, but there are a lot of what look like old cardboard boxes lying around in some of the towns.

And I seem to remember them being described as “pre-war” in the dialogue box when you examine them. But maybe I’m wrong.

It's basically that Fallout used to be the 50s trying to look futuristic, but now it's the future trying to look like the 50s. There's a big difference because the former is attempting to predict what the future technology will look like, while the latter is trying to make its technology look like it belongs in the 50s.

Also they go too ham with all the music being from the same era and shit. Fallout 1 and 2 only used the inkspots for the intro as a way to set the mood, but there were references to rock music everywhere as well, and they are missing one venue to build setting in creating original post war music, but that also ties into another issue with the Bethesda Fallouts where EVERYTHING has to be prewar, nothing is developed by anyone, they even retconned the Vertibirds to be in active use pre war instead of being prototypes not in active and then completed by the Enclave, new armor design? Was 8t maybe developed by the BOS after taking over the mobile Enclave base? Nope retcon them to be totally there the whole time guys.

Absolutely.

The music should be by their own modern [2060-77 era] musicians—even if still keeping the 4/4 time, subjects, and other popular aspects of the 50's style—but with a modern twist or two.

*Yes, these do play up the 50's motif.

They could have hired a songwriter/musician(s) to create era sounding tunes that were about the 2065's trends, topics, and issues.

They had some good original scores in Fallout 4. I never played the radio so I actually didn't experience it that much.

Not unless these were in og titles.

That’s the reason I love the Radio Free Vegas mod. It adds a 50’s-sounding early psychobilly station that somehow feels right at home with the setting.

this looks nothing like the energy weapons in 1 and 2 except the pulse gun
The first looks like the Alien Blaster from Fallout 1 and 2. But yeah, outside of that one they don't like that one. The ones in the game still look like props from Flash Gordon anyway.

But they are indicative of the proper style.

*Note that these were their future prototypes.

**A thing about art assets to keep in mind is that Interplay cannibalized their art library. You can find Fallout assets in Planescape, and I think even Blood & Magic assets in Fallout. Famously, the Deathclaw itself was taken directly from a D&D Tarrasque maniquette they had from a previous project.

Lol this is what i get from trying to read forum posts at nearly two in the morning.
HA! Pansy.

I’ve been up for 3 days thanks to nicotine, caffeine, and a burning hatred of the horrible nightmares I experience when I sleep. And look at me, I is completely good grammar.
