Fallout 3 Trailer

Yep, way weak. Although theoretically, we don't know where the logo comes from, so it might be a general army logo. Doubtful, though.

It doesn't make much sense as an army logo. Remember the wings, gears and sword are supposed to express elders, knights and paladins, leadership, science and fighters. Though it's a bit of an unknown, to be sure.
Maybe it's adapted from the logo for West Tek? It'd make a good logo for a R&D company doing weapons research.

Except if it were the West Tek logo, we would've seen it in the Glow.

BTW, the Brotherhood of Steel symbol on the armor has the large gear to the left and the smaller gears to the right from our perspective (or the other way around, from the perspective of the person in the armor), which is how the symbol used by the Brotherhood in Fallout and Fallout 2 looked, while the version used by the Eastern Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout Tactics was reversed horizontally. Whether it means anything is yet to be seen.

Tactics botched the TB part with the implementation of RT,as did Apocalypse.
Further i see nothing wrong with TB even these days.

Ahem the post i was refering to is gone O.o

Could be an ad-hoc attribution, though. The sword and wings both make sense for the military, the gears would make sense for the engineering department of the military so it's possible it could be a military insignia.

Still far-fetched, though. Feels like a weak justification to throw in something cool.

Anyone know what weapon he is holding? Looks kinda crappy.
Looks like the weapon in one of Fallout PA pics we have in the gallery. With a bit of Zoom it looks really cool, retro futuristic with a touch of steam-punk.

The weapon looks jury-rigged. But I'd have to ask why a BoS Paladin would be carrying around a jury-rigged weapon.
.. unless it really is a Raider in Power Armour... :x

I have to ask what the fuck a BOS Paladin is doing over at the East Coast.
So I'm hoping it's a raider.

Vertibird expedition? Holiday? Mission to find the lost Lincoln statue which transformed into a living invunerable giant after exposure to radiation?

So I'm hoping it's a raider.

I'd rather have Paladins on the East Coast than level-scaled raiders..

Er, yeah, useful exposition there. I'd rather have Paladins on the East Coast than a raider in a swimsuit.

The chance that level-scaling is going to be used is very slim, since I've seen several developers make jokes about level-scaling and its ridiculousness.

I dunno, Sander, remember, Bethesda's philosophy is that nothing they ever did was wrong, and that Oblivion's free-roaming gameplay is identical to Fallout's open-ended choice-and-consequence gameplay, no difference!

Level scaling makes sense within the context of free-roaming, let's just hope they understand Fallout isn't that type of game, otherwise the opinion of the newbie developers that have been talking to us won't matter.

Well, don't read too much into it, whether through NDAs or personal preference, Bethesda has never shown a predeliction towards being overtly honest.

By the way, on another topic, I noticed some funny links towards us from our referrers. Did you know there are quite a few places (not naming names, I'm not for cross-site trolling) on the internet completely obsessed with bad-mouthing NMA? I thought we were an obsessive bunch, but it's like nobody can mention Fallout without waves of obsessive posters running in to give their .02 on how stupid we are.

It's good that they care so much about us. They should care more about Fallout 3, but y'know...

Small question if I may: I see a lot of people here and on the Beth forum saying that Tactics should not be considered canon...why?

It contradicts some things in F1/F2

Like the Goverment experiment in F2 and Vault 0 in Tactics.

Some of the story material conflicts with Fallout 1 and 2.

I liked Tactics but I can understand people's reasons why they rather don't have it canon.
Mind you, the same probably will apply soon for FO3

I doubt the Fallout 3 story will contradict canon as much as Tactics (or FOBOS) did. The story might be boring and the dialogues might suck, but they'll probably try to stick to the canon as much as they can (which is easier than making an interesting story and dialogues).

Ok the Vault 0 thing that is supposed to be the heart of the Vault-spawned new human society... but Vault 8 (Vault City) didnt know they were an experiment. Why would it be different with Vault 0? I'm thinking that perhaps Vault 0 was part of the Enclave experiment too, but at the same time it was a deluxe Vault for the elite. The Enclave let that happen because it didnt interfere with their plans.
I just think it is possible to find a story that reunites both storylines.

They are taking a "safe" route with that east coast thingie.
If they still manage to contradict something they are simply stupid.

I cant speak for the shooter Fallout.(saw the Power armor and laughed myself to death)

Heh, I did that a long time ago.

Basically Vault 0 was the Enclave's original plan of retaking the US mainland, while the Enclave would wait it out on the Poseidon super oil rig , Vault 0 would open in time to send out its robot workers to start restoring infrastructure, cities and industry, and of course exterminate also those pesky mutants.

When the Enclave would return they would find completely restored cities, complete with a mint chocolate on the pillow.

Of course things didn't go out as planned, most of the people stored in cryogenics, considered important for the rebuilding of US civilization suffered from brain damage due to cutbacks on technology.

In the end some obscure group of near human mutants calling themselves the Brotherhood of Steel took control of Vault 0.
