Bethesda's plan to outsource minor pieces of cosmetic DLC for their full price single player games has now gone live for Fallout 4. Marvel at 11 pieces of DLC armour and weapons that all have direct and probably better analogues on Nexus for free.

Oh and they made a horse armour joke:

I really don't understand the shift Bethesda has done in recent years.

It's like the moment they hit the big time with Oblivion and Fallout 3 they decided to start copying EA on their business tactics but weren't (and aren't) competent enough to pull off the whole 'stockholm syndrome' EA has engendered in their consumer base so instead we get whathever the hell this is.

Money, Money, Money! It's all they care about now. That and bad business decisions. Todd Howard must be spinning in his gra- oh wait, he's part of the problem.

Edit: Also, self-deprecation Horse Armor jokes aren't funny. They never were. Except when "DLC Quest" did it. But that wasn't self-deprecation humor, it was an outright roast of the absurdity some companies take their DLC to.

If cosmetic mods is what Bethesda thinks is acceptable content to pay for as debut paid content, then they have my pity.

The evisceration they'll face will be tremendous plus comparisons to Witcher 3's free DLC will be inevitable.

It'll be equivalent to a Mother Deathclaw who spotted Bethesda kicking one of her hatchlings. Better grab the popcorn because limbs are gonna go fucking flying.

Whatever shred of respect i had for Bethesda is floating away in the wind. And i'm waving goodbye and saying good riddance.

In a couple years time.

"Please pay 1 cent to buy another magazine, you're out!"

"For the low low price of 80 dollars, start with T-60 power armour!*"

"Game not verified for this session, please purchase a verification code to play the game for today, only 1 dollar"

*Only for that one save, loading the save will delete the armour.

I am surprised that the "likes" are increasing . Specially judging by the comments.
454 likes at the moment .

It's like the moment they hit big...money

Basically, yes. These are the guys who are still milking Skyrim for all its worth. They hit a huge stream of revenue by mashing shit together and now will milk it dry. I hope they dehydrate to death soon after.

Let me get this straight...

So you're playing Fallout 4, right? So you expect canon fallout weapons.

You go "Man, I remember the Gauss rifle! That was cool! I guess the Fallout 3/NV incarnation wasn't too bad either!"

So you play the game and see 'gauss rifle', and see some rickety old piece of shit which looks like it's going to kill you.

You go 'What the fuck is this? A fucking chimp could make a better mesh and texture!'.

So you google 'Fallout 4 Gauss Rifle' and see "HEYA KIDDO, WANT THAT COOL GAUSS RIFLE FROM THE OLDER GAMES YOU ALREADY OWN!? PAY US MORE SHEKELS AND WE'LL HAPPILY OUTSOURCE ALL THE EFFORT WE SHOULD HAVE DID, AND GET SOME RANDOM CUNT TO MAKE IT FOR YOU!"

Wasn't there a big uproar last time someone tried this? Do they have enough loyal fans that this'll work this time?

Also this comment made me laugh.

No, Obsidian can get bent. They're the Bioware for generation X basement-dwellers.

I actually don't see anything wrong with the concept of the Creation Club. Good Modders that are interested can get hired (and paid) by Bethesda and release quality content that works as tiny DLCs.
What is ridiculous is that what was promised was a bunch of lies. First they said it would be content not available as a mod already (Hellfire PA, plenty of backpacks mods on the Nexus, quite a few rextureets of Pipboy on Nexus, black power armor, Chinese Stealth Suit, etc), then they said it would be quality content... seriously? They have colored Pipboy retextures? They have a black paintjob Power Armor? Honestly... Who would pay for this? Desperate console players?

The concept of it seems fair, but the actual implementation, blatant lies and content makes it definitely stupid.

EDIT: 493 likes now. Why doesn't Steam show dislikes number?

Any reasonable person should think that the Creation Club would debut with DLC-level quest mods and content matching up with official (and good) DLCs in order to generate goodwill instead of already available content, re-textures and paint-jobs all which I'm sure Nexus mods has in droves (and of superior quality).

Also, I noticed that their method of generating goodwill is to give 100 credits to spend on those mods. Gee... I wonder how fast will those credits run out.

EDIT: Apparently, 100 credits can't get you much
