Fallout 4 "The Wanderer" trailer

I'm 35, I loved the original games, and I love the new games, different though they may be. Do you hate me for liking Fallout 1, 2, 3, and NV, and for pre-ordering Fallout 4?
And to any fan of FO1/2/T (and I mean fan, not just casual player or whatever) who got lulled by FO3 and ended up loving it and is now super-excited for FO4; You don't get to use your history of being a pre-Bethesda Fallout fan as leverage. You threw that leverage away when you became a sheep for an Oblivion-clone.

You can like whatever the fuck you want to like, man.
You just wanna have fun and play whatever the hell type of sequel a publisher releases? Go ahead. I ain't gonna judge you for that.
What I will judge you for is when you take position against people with legitimate grievances with how an IP is transforming.

You're skipping some seriouis steps in logic when you say that a person throws their leverage away for liking what Bethesda did for the series. That's a bunch of bullshit, good sir. You're saying that a person's opinion doesn't matter because they don't agree with you... and then you go on to say that you will judge "me" for liking what you don't like.

That's really childish, elementary-school-playground-argument stuff there, bud... well, that, and it's similar to how people take sides in holy wars, which is fitting, since people like you have given this site the reputation for being not fans, but fanatics, in the worst sense of the word.

I am putting words in your mouth? Seriously. Why are you even here? Do you feel we need people like you to enlighten us to save our souls or something? You said it by your self, just here, no phuns, no hyperbole jokes. Beth can do what ever they want, it's their IP. No shit Sherlock! That is EXACTLY what we criticize. And even YOU agree that Beth made changes to the game. Again, ANOTHER one of the points that we critize because, god forbid! We compare the SEQUEL to it's predecessors.

Hey, compare it away buddy. Just don't get all elitist when you consider that your taste is superior to others just because Bethesda changed a lot of stuff and you don't like it.

People liking Bethesda watered down rpgs is whatever, people like what they like.

People celebrating games getting wattered down just to appeal to the wider margin tho, that's just bad for the medium. People defend all the shit Big Publishers do because "they need to make money" even when that involves what amounts to cultural vandalism and anti consumer practices. Not to mention this deluge of Unpaid PR squads who go all ballistic when ANYONE dares criticize a company for very obviously dumbing down a series to appeal to people who only play one type of game. "Gamer" culture is pretty much a huge joke.

While the critism here for the things like dialog options with "just press A for the right choice" or mundane character system or turning FPS are valid; being bitter about this 7/24, considering some people as idiots for liking new games or going so far that making a realism check over a live action trailer no less is utterly inmature and silly.

I'm here because of that irrational hype belended with rabid fan-boyism going on everywhere else. Because there i can't have a healthy discussion but this venomous bitterness going on here is just as bad. "Live action trailer is horribleeeeee", "you can't fire an assault rifle like thaaatttttt" " he's not talking in a live action trailer".... grow up FFS.

This may be my second post here but i have been reading and following this site for years btw.

It goes beyond just quality of games as well, When you mention Anti-Consumer practices. I don't know how it is in South America, Central America, Carriban or whatever that neck of the woods are. But i'm sure it's the same.

I practically hate how when a company breaks an ethical legal policy placed for the benefit for US, The consumer. Just because of hype, They like the game or whatever, Defend the living shit out of it, Even though they should be sued or outright boycotted until forced to do so. I hate people who try to think because a corporation presents a EULA, They think they can have a legal wavier to do what they feel like.

It's called theft when someone buys the game only for that to be revoked and their money not back. That is theft, That shit will never fly in any court of today. Thanks to agencies like Federal Trade Commission and better business bureau.

Anyways, Getting a bit off topic. I tend to go on rants. But yeah, I wanted to chime in on this unpaid PR manchildren that unanimously defend products and can't see any reason to defend them. This happened with WarZ, DayZ while it was being development. People need to use their fucking craniums in their head and have a logical dissonance between what they like and don't like. It's better to be cynical and not get your hopes too high and try to analyze the game being presented than being overly optimistic and have a blind eye in reality.

At the end of the day, People. Use extreme caution with any product you intend to buy. See who is making it. Think back on their other games. Try to understand what makes a good game good and a bad game bad. Form a well rounded hypothesis of the game being release and don't buy on day one unless you've done all your homework and have a lot of good reference points/sources to back up your reasoning. This might sound like the scientific method because it is.

But when it comes to Bethesda? It's quite obvious, Immense skepticism is needed.

tl;dr Don't be afraid to criticize bad developers and demand a better product.

Well, when one of their main focal points in the development of the title is "a fully voice acted player character" and the fully voice acted world in general, it would also not serve the discussion very well to ignore the glaring shittyness of both of those features as presented by Bethesda so far.

We discussed the skills being removed and the nonsensical perk system for the same reasons.

Same thing with Fallout 3 and how they pretty much only showed promotional shots of their "new" power armor for a few months. If it's all we see, we're going to pick it apart and inspect it's quality. In that case, they tried to re-envision the power armor as some suit of plate armor made of rusty metallic junk instead of the engineered power suit it was supposed to be.

When they constantly act like they are making positive changes to the game and IP, and the changes that they present to us all appear to be really poorly done or superficial changes meant only to draw in the lowest common denominator of the gaming public, you should expect that people will call them on it.

If they'd released something for us to look at that didn't look like stamped dog shit to quite a few of the fans of the series, maybe the tune would be different.

I am not even talking about taste. I am just saying that no Fallout game made by Bethesda can be a Sequel to either Fallout 1 or 2 as long as Beth is following their current design principles. And this is simply a fact. What ever if the games they make are of good quality is a whole different question.

Jeez, so I guess the dialogue really is mundane as I thought it might be.

And those models/facial expressions... it just looks uncanny in a cartoon-kind-of-way or something. I can't be the only one weirded out by that? Compared to something like TW3, for a 2015 game, TW3 takes the cake for real looking faces and expressions, examples: this, this, and this (The emotional expressions seem very real and believable, and they definitely are since I've played it, and CD Projekt didn't even use mo-cap tech to do it).

I have no problem with the games not being isometric turn based. I do have a problem with shit story and writing, coupled with bland characters and nonsensical world. I don't know about the rest, but for me it's not the obvious things that make or break a game. Bethesda fans just want the straight in your face, I... I like the more subtle elements. If Morrowind was set in Oblivion, I would have hated it. The gameplay was shit, the graphics were poor... but I loved it for the story, the world and writing. I loved talking to people in Fallout 1 and 2, savouring the various personalities of the wasteland. THATS what excites me for games, not better combat or looting. C&C and writing.

This trailer sucks, like others said it's just jerking off to how kewl the main character is. And I thought it would reveal more about the story.
Wait, you actually expected a trailer from a Bethesda game to reveal anything story-related?

No, but show us some cool looking things in the world, instead. The protagonist will be (as is the standard in these things) pretty much just a cipher anyway. Nobody's going to buy Fallout 4 because the main character is cool, they're going to buy it for the things to see and do.

Is Bethesda admitting that they're making another walking simulator?

Yea, Bethesda may be drifting into the uncanny valley with this one. Character glitches and weirdness in previous games weren't as big of a deal because everyone looked like a puppet to begin with. But now that things are getting more realistic...watch out.
