Fallout 76: E3 Trailer

and I can't believe people saying that they enjoyed "Fallout 3". I played the whole thing, once, back in 2008 and I can't remember anything I enjoyed. when I think of it, it only aggravates me, all the stupidity in it. I just remembered the behemoths and that's just one example

Bethesda Fallouts are huge games, worked on by many different people. Keeping this in mind, there are inherently going to be some good and bad aspects to them. Not to mention that personal enjoyment is subjective. Is this really beyond belief for you?

I get this is a spin off and stuff, but it doesn't excuse the idea that this game has a very limited life span.

I'm glad somebody brought this up. Clearly the people who developed this throwaway title were not concerned with creating a piece of software that would stand the test of time. This should tell you everything you need to know about Bethesda, Fallout 76, and online 'service' games.

Didn't they say that they were looking into allowing players to set up their own servers or something?

'Looking into' it. Just like they're 'looking into' a way to prevent greifing in an always online PVP game. Todd Howard said private servers along with mods won't be available at launch. In fucking November. Five months from now. Which begs the question, what the hell are they scrambling to finish right now, and why exactly are they rushing what they know to be a feature-incomplete title out the door? Today's development culture is just fucking disgraceful.

Fallout 3 was actually my first Fallout game and i hated it. Found it to be a boring, souless, nonsensical mess. Then i played the first two and New Vegas and i got even more angry.

I have no nostalgia attachment to the first two games and even i am angry to how much Bethesda butchered this franchise.

I have no nostalgic attachment to the OG games.
In fact the first time I completed them was after Fallout 4, and thought they were just two great games.

New Vegas is the game I have the most attachment to, even if do like like 3 and to an extent, 4.

Welp, so much for Bethesda going into the right direction with Far Harbor, which was their best effort regarding Fallout to my mind, though I enjoyed 4 as well (In contrast to 3, which was a horribly grey, dull and aggravating amalgamation of FO1/2 plot points).

I don't really know what to think of this...it could theoretically be enjoyable to play with another friend (And Fallout fan), but it looks to lean too heavily on the shooting and looting aspect of FO4 whilst not really giving the mechanics more depth. That's not why I play Fallout and I find online games needlessly competitive, repetitive and short-lived most of the time.

Only thing one can do is to wait for reviews and then decide whether or not it could be of interest, but given the online, non-private nature of it..eh....

C'mon man, they need more time to work out the kinks of nuking others and making sure that the details upon details upon details got details. Cut 'em some slack.

[edit]

What would even be the point of singleplayer if there's no actual NPC's? It's like playing Minecraft all by yourself. It can be done, sure. But how fun is it to be alone in a hollow world?

also thanks for letting me know so early that i wont be spending any money on it

Yup, pretty much.
Although I guess the concept of a multiplayer world is kinda interesting, I'm just not a multiplayer type of guy, so, pass for me most likely.

When I see all these new creatures I wonder why they waited until now to even try to be creative or original, also why is the vault-tec logo on the nuke

Sorry, I might have been a bit over the top in my response. I'm just not one to let the entire community be passively insulted without saying something.

This is going to be a real shit show, judging by how most people play games like Ark and Rust. Bethesda appears to be completely out of their element with no concrete ideas on how to prevent greifing in a game featuring persistent combat. And nukes. As soon as the beta opens to the public, the developers are going to realize how monumentally they have fucked up. Fallout 76 was definitely a Zenimax idea.

-I think that people took me talking about the writing and characters to mean fallout 3/4. I meant 1/2 - I was comparing the two 'eras'. My bad for not being any clearer.

Hey again, sorry for being absent - was working all day. I did not mean to passively insult anyone so I'll apologize for that. I wanted to bring it up as I felt that things were a little one-sided there, however as I am just 'showing up' out of the nowhere I do accept that it was at least an unwise decision. Although I do want to point out that I did not want to say that the writing in Fallout 3 or 4 is good, as it isn't and I don't think that it is. I'm pretty sure I never implied otherwise but hey.

Anyways, I do agree about the fact that Bethesda are out of there limit here and just generally I think this game is gonna be one that's more fun to watch explode than it is to play (which is certainly Bethesda's mindset anyway).
Some people are suggesting that due to one of Todd Howard's interviews taken yesterday, a 'single-player' or 'personal' server will be implemented for mods. Thing is, without any human NPCs or a real story-line to follow, what's the point in Single-player. Moreover, without offline play, this game will only last as long as it's servers. I'm surprised so many people over the internet are actually supportive of this game.
