Fallout on IGN's Top 100 Games List for 2007

The only fair way to have a list like this would be to have each category separate. Comparing Fallout and Halo is like apples and oranges.

And yeah it is a matter of taste. For example I thought the original Unreal was crap and Quake.. well the demo was enough to see the rest of the game had nothing else to offer.

But they obviously had more innovashun as they ported multi-player content onto a console before Halo.

So why doesn't that argument stand for them as well, hmm? :P

Plus, what's wrong with Half-life, yeah it's engine and DM modes were bullocks until the modders got through with it but before the final curtain call it was a pretty fun game if you steered away from the CS players.

*reminisces about the funky tron-esque mod and natural selection*

And UT wasn't bad if you had some steam to vent, heads and tails above most that was offered at that time anyways, just because it's graphics aren't up to snuff now doesn't mean that it wasn't any good in it's heyday.

*gasp*

I can't believe I just had to say that to a community devoted to the original fallout games... I think I'm going to go home now before more of my illusions are shattered! :puppy-dog:

man, I would put Fallout and Deus Ex in the top 5... not somewhere in the middle of the list ... :( And Halo has cool AI i admit it and atmosphere (still NOT comparable to the former titles, though) but hey, it's just an ego shooter...
Yeah, but level design is awful, and weapons are uninteresting. Besides, the story is nothing much, although it certainly stands out above all the other crappy FPSs. Gameplay is nice and fun but not something to look up to. Halo is a fair FPS.

Fallout as number 33

Isn't it kind of hard to determine the top "best of any games" if all games have different genres and have a different fan base, just like music lovers and movie goers do?

#22 System Shock 2
#21 X-COM: UFO Defense

Nice to hear. Though I don't understand why Fallout is so low and lower than Halo.

I bet Oblivion will reach top 15.

It was much less formularic, had much more interesting characters and a darker theme and tone.

...and it had actually a post apoc feeling when you entered Ikana Valley ! :D

hmmm....the list is updated,i must say that seeing Street Fighter 2 on the 24th brings back some childhood memories ,...i have to cry...good old days :(

I haven't been able to get through the whole list but I hope that Jagged Alliance is in there too or some of the old Legend's adventures.

Halo was really boring game if you ask me. I couldn't play it for more than 30 minutes. Duke Nukem rules :D

Keep in mind, this list also dictates which games changed the industry, and unfortunately, Halo I think has changed gaming more than fallout.
Thanks to Halo, everyone in the industry is trying to best Halo as a game, rather than make creative, different types of gameplay experiences, even though fallout is better. But fallout never sold so many as many copies as Halo. This list is rather predictable.

I expect number 1 to be Super Mario Brothers, and Number 2 to be Ocarina of Time, and X-Com somewhere in the teens. And Homeworld.

After that one they can't possibly include BioShock EVER!

Huh? For some reason I can't view under number 30....?

*Edit.... Nevermind.

QF-freaking-T

I'm actually a bit surprised that Duke hasn't shown up on the list yet. Hopefully it'll be in the top 20... but somehow I doubt it. Honestly, imo, the level design in that fps is unmatched, even in modern day shooters. I loved the semi-free roam environments, plus Dukes one liners had me in tears on my first play through. I hope DNF is just as good when it comes out (And yes, I'm an optimistic fellow ) :D

I suppose Fallout simply being on the list is good enough for me, I really wasn't expecting much from an IGN list anyway. I dunno, maybe we'll get lucky and Fallout 2 will appear later!

But let's all face it, Fallout: PoS is going to be #1. Don't deny it.

Don't be daft, you can bet your sweet bippy that most of the best games from twenty to ten will all be games that have been released this or last year, because they really pushed the media forwards.
