Fallout on IGN's Top 100 Games List for 2007

In the vein of adventure games I would also suggest: Laura Bow(sp?) Beneath a Steel Sky, Kings Quest 6, Kyrandia...

That's all I can think of :P

Today they go from #20 to #11.

20 Metal Gear Solid :)
19 Doom :)
18 Chrono Trigger :)
17 Super Mario World :)
16 Shadow of the Colossus (WTF that game is only special for it's graphics?!) :?
15 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night :|
14 Sid Meier's Pirates :)
13 Mrs. Pac-Man
12 Star Wars: TIE Fighter :)
11 Starcraft :D

Can't wait to see the top ten. I like all their picks this time particularly Sid Meier's Pirates. Makes up for the absolutely atrocious pick of Shadow of the Colossus which I hear is just an action game with one uniqe selling point that's marketed as an RPG.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I think number 17, 14, 12 and 11 were great picks. :D
Doom is, of course, a classic, but I don't know about the other ones :?

Mrs Pac-Man isn't a horrible pic, that game had a lot of historic implications.

Also, for those seriously wondering "what about Fallout 2", if you have a series with nearly-identical games, like Fallout 1/2, Baldur's Gate 1/2, you just pick the best one and list that one. It's too much to list them both. Hence the sole listing of Fallout 1 and BG2.

I'm glad that given a choice between choosing Fallout 1 or 2 to showcase the series they chose 1. Very glad indeed.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Fallout 2, despite originally being the more popular title in ratings and toplists, has slowly lost out to Fallout 1. I think most of that is simply that editors prefer to list the original title unless a sequel is vastly superior (as with BG 1 and 2), which isn't the case with Fallout 2, and Fallout 1 has more lasting charm than Fallout 2 as well.

Reminds me of the media saying stuff about Fallout when they haven't actually played the game.

Shadow of the Colossus certainly isn't an RPG. LOL!! And the graphics are just okay. I think it deserves the spot because it has something to offer that no other game has done before. Epic giant killing. There are 16 giants (plus a secret one if you care to bother). Nothing else. No sensless slaughtering of hordes of nameless enemies. No cloned completely identical enemies. It reminds me of the old adventure type games, because really, once you've figured out how to kill one of the giants then you've pretty much figured out the puzzle and there's no insane difficulty to it (unless you want to do faster and/or with style).

After that one they can't possibly include BioShock EVER!

Don't be daft, you can bet your sweet bippy that most of the best games from twenty to ten will all be games that have been released this or last year, because they really pushed the media forwards.

Criterion #1 from http://top100.ign.com/2007/index.html:

Eligible games had to have been released no later than December 31, 2006 (perspective is a good thing)

There goes BioShock, then... :)

Perhaps read next time before you get all excited...?

Are you just saying that to make me fire up the game again and start a futile search for a non-existent colossus?

And VD, the game is actually pretty good, even though you can chomp your way through it in 6 hours or so. Nice for the price I bought it for (comparable to 20 USD).
It's not really a 16 on a Top 100 list though. Definitely not better than Super Mario World, Doom or any of the awesome picks lower on the list.

edit: Nice, Civ2 as #3. Didn't see that coming...

Tetris is #2 when it's actually one of the most dangerous games EVER!!! I got it for my cellphone and got tetrisick myself!!! I couldn't bear the illness so I had to uninstall the freaking shit and wait for it to go away. In the meanwhile, I kept playing tetris in my head EVERY SECOND!!!

Tetris is evil.

I read that if you complete every game mode (all difficulties, all time challenges, etc..) and then climb up to the secret garden, that there is a boss there.

I'll see if I can find a link...

http://www.consolecheatcodes.com/playstation2/shadowofthecolossuscheats.html

"17th Colossus:
To unlock the 17th colossus, beat all 4 modes. Then, climb the outside of the temple to the secret garden. The 17th colossus will appear in a short cutscene like the other colossi, smashing the rear wall. After you fight him, the path to the very top of the temple will be opened, leding to a very "special" surprise."

But I have also seen posts where people say they have found everything there is to find in the game and there is absolutely no 17th colossus or someone would have posted a screenshot of it. So... it might not exist. If so, sorry about that. :P

for fucks sake..what are guys heads filled with??

Seriously, you would have to be a complete moron not to put monkey island in that list and IGN takes the cake :wall:

More like Ign is been run by three-headed monkeys :violent:

i agree with #1 and #2, how is this zelda crap that high, the only good zelda was a link to the past and its not worth the #8 spot. im happy to see half life 2 in #6,i knew nintendo games "sucked" i didnt know they sucked for publicity
