"Bethesda gave Fallout a pretty unique and appealing interpretation, opposed to what happened to Thief, for instance."

Pfft. New Thief was to old Thief fans what Fallout 3 was to old Fallout fans.

Absolutely. The new Thief games, might be quality games, no clue, but they definetly moved very far away from what the original thief games are.

New Thief was just a bad game all around. But especially bad to fans of the old series.

The old Thief games, especially The Metal Age had a unique charm to them while the new one is way too dour and joyless. Garrett's smartass comments were entertaining, the secrets you discovered during your missions were intriguing and I especially liked that the guards weren't really all evil psychopaths, they were just normal dudes, who would hum their favorite tunes, complain to their buddies that night shift sucks and why all the nobles get to have fun while they stand out here in the cold and try their damnest not to fall asleep on the job. "Immersive" is a huge buzzword in the industry, but it describes Thief 2 pretty accurately. I wouldn't say the same for the remake that nobody really asked for.

Hey, guess what, guys, Encumbrance is an archaic game mechanic that needs to go away so that people can carry as much shit as they want to without thinking about the consequences.

Seriously. Are all games journalists nowadays this lazy and stupid or is it just the ones who play console games?

(Full Disclosure: I play console games)

EDIT: Just want to add something. New Vegas solved a lot of encumbrance problems by having those mailboxes you can send stuff from place to place. Yet something else Obsidian did in New Vegas that Bethesda straight out ignored.

Well I guess we now know why games keep getting dumbed down. Because of idiots like those who basically want a WIN button.

    Zerginfestor dear god, the scrapping

After several days of playing Fallout 4, some of the many issues I notice is:

-Why in the holy name of fuck did they fuck over the UI? It's like they never heard of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it", and apparently they got worried that people would catch on that they hardly improved anything upon the game, or made the world interesting, so they instead made the interface so terrible, it would even make console playing a bitch.

-Melee is completely fucked by this interface as well, putting almost all of their eggs into the Left-Alt basket is insanity, it feels rushed or someone was fucking drunk in making it.

-Whoever said "There's life in the wasteland" or "There's settlements!" Are obviously bullshitting. Over 50% of the map is devoid of any settlement life, and the other half is just raider-country with Diamond City the main settlement.

-This game enforces grinding on misc quests, yet at the same time, they placed a stupid leveling system where the farther you go out, the worst shit gets. You'll even sometimes get quests that tell you to travel half of the goddamn map to do something, which means you'll most likely face Gunners, Yao Guai, and even Deathclaws. Not cool.

-Unarmed is completely useless. You can't use it in Power Armor, and even fasion-wise, it looks ugly as sin: There's absolutely no dual-wielding in the game, even the knuckles weapon only has one knuckle weapon on the RIGHT side, not even on the left. What the fuck is this, Dead Island?...

-Because of the butchered leveling, and the grinding, the perk system enforces you to get the utility perks (Lockpicking, Hacking, Local Leader, etc.), yet you'll need the damage perks as well or else you'll be sitting there, whittling a simple Raider Scum's health down little by little.

-The power armor that appears depending on your level is terrible, at best. Because of the fact you have to explore, it means you'll have a chance of most of your Power Armor being nothing more than T-45, just a frame, or Raider armor that's soon equipped by a raider if you're caught when trying to get to it.

-The scrapping, OH GOD THE SCRAPPING. I haven't figured out how to scrap all my junk items in any other method besides literally going to my list in my pip-boy, pressing R on everything, exiting my pip-boy, holding the V button, and then aim precisely on the objects and pressing R and Enter, over and over. It's the worst fucking method I have ever witnessed.

Overall, this game is a chore and a mess.

I guess people are now crying about encumbrance because they have to pick up every piece of trash off the ground.

I don't even get why Junk items aren't automatically scrapped now... or why there is no "Scrap" option on the pipboy even tho they now have no use individually...

Fun fact, Pillars Of Eternity has a chest you can access through your inventory at all times which doesn't have a limit to how much can be shoved into it, so basically; No carry weight limit.

If those reviews don't include any talk about bugs then they're full of it since I just encountered this fucking bug which I was able to record:

Reddit happened. They had a 'gathering' because their feelings were hurt that so many people are giving it negative reviews so they commissioned to down-vote negative reviews (even if those negative reviews are only about that player's legitimate experience listing detailed pro/cons). The herd mentality and all that.

Still doesn't stop the negative reviews from rising (now upwards of 5000+ , 7/10). There are even loco people on reddit and steam thinking its some sort of NMA/Codex/CD Projekt conspiracy. I haven't seen a game like this in a while on steam where the comment sections for each individual review just blow up with people going at it back and forth; with a lot of childish nonsense.

Why does everyone want to carry as much as possible anyway?
Am I the only one who don't necesarily want to carry that much around?
I find the inventory to become cluttersome

Besides, I... feel lighter! If I carry only essential stuff
    More smooth :I

When I travel, I always go below 100 pounds, but then I get distracted by all the shiny objects in the dungeons and leave with 500 pounds of scrap on my back. Oh the struggle is real.

They aren't? I never scrapped any junk item, I just store all the junk in one of the workbenches and that gives me immediate access to all the resources o_O

Yea, and then when you mod stuff, you get a pop up that certain junk items are going to be scrapped for the materials you need, don't you? ;)

You can't scrap weapons unless you are on a workbench, same with armors and such. There is also the fact that some weigthy items give an amount of compotents that is lighter than they are, so an on the go "Scrap junk" action on the pipboy would make the inventory far easier to handle.
