Partially. It depends on the kind of connection. One shouldn't just plug their computer into a modem that is not/ or not connected through a secured NAT router.

I haven't found a link to it yet, but there was a test done by the makers of ZoneAlarm, where they plugged a fresh PC [straight] into the Internet, and had hack attempts immediately from all over the world; and some from their own zipcode. This stuff never dies. There's still Nimda and Code-Red, and Melissa, and... all floating around online.

Speaking about internet, Russia is thinking about creating their own "internet", RuNet so to speak. Kinda like what China has today.
 
Prohibition never works.

China is also contiplating to create their own Operating system... which means they would reinvent the wheel—with all of its associated stress cracks.

About the time DSL came out to the phone companies around 2000 or so is where the market should have left things in alot of ways, however how are all those Ivy League assholes going to make 100 Billion Dollars in 4 years?
 
Finland just qualified for the European Champioships in REAL football. We celebrate this in the streets, some are naked. This is the first time we have ever qualified for the Euros.

Yeah you can store water forever. It has to be in a specialized plastic container and has to be distilled.
