Apparently Obsidian is hiring people for the next game. Seems like it might be a melee oriented game and with multiplayer?

    I thought so.

There was some speculation that they might actually have several projects cooking up at the moment due to several people being a ”game director” and due to their project naming (US states) policy that would suggest...was it 4 or 5 (can’t remember) on going ”somethings”.

Also, that the thing they’re hiring for could be that ”Skyrim clone” Feargus’ been dreaming about.

Just speculation, though. Just that .

I thought for a moment that Obsidian might have looked at the Fallout 76 disaster and how people still play it, and thought to themselves "We cold make a better and less disastrous online first person RPG ourselves. Now we have Microsoft backing us out, so we can finally have a slice of the online microtransactions market".

    Who knows?

Maybe they have something like that cooking up.

    Focus on first person melee.
So it's fantasy or medieval? It's fantasy or medieval isn't it..
What other setting could be melee focused, especially in first person?

If it is I'm probably not buying it. Said it before, I'm tired of fantasy/medieval.
Outer Worlds was a chance to break free from that and then their publisher just had to go to bed with Epic which means I can't buy it out of principle and I don't even think that Outer Worlds looks good. I really hope that their first Microsoft funded venture isn't just going to be 'yet another' fantasy/medieval RPG, except this time in first person.

It would be hilarious if they created their own Elder Scrolls with black jack and hookers, outperformed Bethesda AND gave what a lot of fans has been asking for for years upon years (which is mostly co-op multiplayer so that they can play it with their friends). Still wouldn't buy it, but I'd appreciate the middle finger at Bethesda.

I'm more tired of "RPGS!!!! but in first person" than I am tired of medieval/fantasy. Medieval/fantasy can go fine if it's not too predictable and standard fantasy tropes everywhere.

The most recent game that I can think that I played that was fantasy but didn't feel like another fantasy game was Tyranny. Say what you will about it but I found it different in setting and tone. I'd like to see another game there but tap more into the world's potential. The levelling system was meh and the ending of the game was too short in my opinion. Fix that, make it turn based, and I'm sold.

    Quit Resident Evil 0.
It's the worst out of the fixed camera series IMO.

I played quite far into it so it's not like I didn't give a fair chance but the game is so tightly confined and constantly drops enemies on you and takes the "scarcity of ammunition and healing items" to an extreme. See, if you're going to be scarce with the healing and ammo then you need to allow the player other ways of dealing with the enemy. So can you hide? Nope. Can you dodge? Nope, you can kind of run around an enemy and hope their animation plays out in a way that allows you to dodge it but there are enemies you simply cannot dodge. Can you sneak? Nope.

And the enemies in the game are awful. The monkeys are probably the worst of them all. Imagine Crimson Heads from REvil but always in pairs or threes, they can lunge, have more health than a crimson head and gank up on you. Then there's the leech men which have a godawful amount of health and when you finish killing it? It explodes, better move out of the way or you're getting hurt. They can grip and bite you if you get close and there's no dodging that, they got a ranged attack and their movement is so weird that it is hard to tell if it is turning or just moving towards you. The bugs are basically like the monkeys except slightly weaker but they still gank up on you and just stunlock you constantly until you're dead.

Some of the puzzles are pretty badly designed IMO. The animal puzzle in the basement made no sense to me and the battery one flat out pissed me off. See in the hallway leading to the room with the piano in it there was a leech man and the male character needs to play the piano but he was in DANGER when I first unlocked the place and I had no healing items at all (because the game is way too stingy with it) so Rebecca had to go through and when I found the piano I used it, a cutscene played out where she played it badly and then an achievement popped up saying "calm away from the zombies" or something. And I figured it was just a easter egg or something so I payed no mind to it. But in order to get the battery you need to play the piano so a hidden door opens and when you grab the battery the door closes, so this time Rebecca was in orange CAUTION so I left her behind. So I had to get her in there too and hope that the damn Leech Man wasn't going to hit her. Just deal with the Leech Man? With what ammo? The few rounds in the grenade launcher I had left? Fuck that. I need it in case a boss happens or god forbid more monkeys...

I'd say this is the least informative old-school REvil game out of them all and it doesn't know what it want to be. Is it trying to be combat oriented like REvil 3 or is it a survival horror game with puzzles? Because it fails at both IMO. Even the location after the train just felt like an attempt to rehash the original.

    I made a me-me:

Has anyone played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords? Because I started playing it about five days ago and so far, the game is great! What are your thoughts on Knights of the Old Republic II?

Excuses for me to make memes aside, KOTOR 1 and 2 are, imo, the best things to come out of the entire Star Wars universe. They’re fantastic and Darth Nihilus is fucking awesome. That’s all I can really say because I’ve not played them in a sinfully long time.

I'm sorry to busy having an intel graphics card to have any recent thoughts on Kotor 2, I enjoyed it on my old PC.

Dash disagrees with you on this one, bro.

I have been playing Borderlands 2 a lot this last week. I finished the main campaign last week and have gone through the campaigns of the first four DLC expansions and four of the five smaller headhunter expansions.

At the moment I am thinking a lot about getting the fifth expansion that came out this year which is a bridge between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 but opinions on this expansion seem to be rather divided on Steam.
I also still need to play Borderlands the Pre Sequel and its expansion.

Edit: before I forget I also watched through the entire story of Tales from the Borderlands. I did buy a Steam key for it but I still have not received it.
I do enjoy adventures but this is more an interactive video which I find rather disappointing.

Regarding Borderlands 3, I decided to spoil the plot for myself after going through some articles and reviews and I can not say that I really like the plot line for this game.
I know the series is not really known for its deep story telling but there is a plot line and there was a build up of a follow up plot to B2 in BPS, something that feels partially ditched by the new writers.
There are some ideas in this game that have promise but it is impaired by the writing and new characters that have been introduced in this game.

If I ever buy this game it will be after it is released on Steam (don't care for the Epic store), all the DLCs have been released, and it is sold on discount. Mostly probably I will wait until it is on Humble Bundle like with Borderlands the Handsome Collection.

At the moment I am currently in the middle of several playthroughs.

    Judgment (PS4)
    Nier: Automata (PS4)
    Max Payne (PS2)
    Bayonetta (PS3)
    Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PS3)
    Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (PS4)

of course I've started about a hundred other games too but these are the ones I feel particularly dedicated to finishing a playthrough of which I suppose speaks to their quality.
