I think people could stand to be more critical of FO3 (as well as the up coming FO4) and especially the reviewers, but alas, that will not be the case. I know they talk about FO3 "brilliant" world design, but when you just examine it for about 5 seconds to realize it makes no sense. As with the examples listed above, my go to is Canterbury Commons, the supposed trading hub of the Capital Wasteland. So much wasted potential. We have a "town" of 5 people with no real security and no real signs of being a trading hub. Instead we get "ZOMG DA 50'S STYLE SUPER HERO AND VILLAIN FIGHTING IT OUT! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!"
As for FO4? I expect more of the same. It's already reaching crazy hype levels and given that Emil is back on writing duties, I have very little hope for the story. We already know the Brotherhood is back and they brought with them Super Mutants, which I'm still not convinced it's the Vault 87 variety, cause they look suspiciously like the Maripose ones. I mean, I like some things about FO4 I've seen thus far, namely the settlement building, layered cothing and armor and the crafting, I have zero hope for a story with meaningful C&C. Not to mention the T-60 Power Armor...I wanna know the story behind that, and hopefully it isn't "well, it's a new FO, so new power armor."
