I feel Fallout 4 will be a rude awakening

WHY THERE IS NO ONE REPLYING?? ARE YOU AFRAID?? BULLSHIT! WE NEED TO DO THIS, GUYS! WE HAVE TO DEFEND OUR BELOVED SERIES BEFORE IT'S GIVING BIRTH OF BESTHESDA'S BASTARD SON

Mod edit: That's quite enough out of you, young man. You're being locked outside of the vault. I hope the rats will feast on your bones.

What was even the experiment in the Gary clone vault?

Was it to see the effects of extended cloning?

But then, when did all the clones becomes murderous?

How were all these murderously psychotic clones keeping themselves alive?

It was just for lolz basically.

I read the experiment that one as less an experiment "let's do something to the vault and see what happens" and more that the vault was charged to do cloning experiments (presumably as a potential vehicle for repopulating the wastes.) It's like how Vault 22 wasn't set up to turn into moss people, they were just charged to do research on growing plants. As for when things went wrong, I think "It came out WRONG" is a common enough trope in SF that it's not worth getting too upset about.

Honestly, I think that one was a missed opportunity. It would have been much more fun to explore a vault which had been sealed for a hundred years where everybody is clones of the same guy (as well as a meta-commentary on Bethesda voice actors) where you could talk to them and learn out what the hell sort of society that would have resulted in, rather than just killing a bunch of guys named "Gary."

I wouldn't be surprised if it was originally conceived of "a vault with a functioning society with clones of a single person" and that was reduced to what we saw in text because the former would require too much writing.

That sums up most of Bethesda's ideas for various communities. They'll come up with a concept but rather than developing it they'd just put the bare bones on the table. The origins of Little Lamplight make sense. The society we see there doesn't. Tenpenny Tower would've made some sense if there an actual economy in the wasteland. The fact that there isn't also makes it make no sense. Megaton should've been a town totally founded by a cult similar to The Cathedral, instead of just one guy and a couple followers worshipping a bomb. Only weird demented cultists would be mad enough to build a town around a live bomb.

Bones, but no meat. Ideas, but no development.

Tenpenny could have been awesome if there was a city around it, you know with the "rich" bastards living in their ivory tower and the poor fuckers around them. Instead of just a big tower in the middle of nowhere without anything to support it.

WE REALLY NEED TO POUR OUR GLORIOUS RAGE UPON TODD HOWARD AND HIS CREW. THEY WILL PAY. WAIT TIL NOVEMBER 10, YOU'LL BE SURPRISED.
FIRST SCENARIO: WE HAVE TO MAKE STRATEGIC PLAN ABOUT THIS. START WITH RIOT FOR 2 DAYS IN FRONT OF BETHESDA'S BUILDING, THEN 'SOME PEOPLE' WILL DISGUISE AS POLICE OFFICER TO CALM DOWN THE CROWD. FEW MOMENTS LATER, ANOTHER DISGUISED POLICE OFFICER WILL ENTER THE BUILDING AND MAKE 'BLOODY MESS' PARTY INSIDE. THIS WILL BRING SO MUCH ATTENTION.
SECOND SCENARIO: HIRE SOME HACKERS TO TAKE DOWN BETHESDA SERVER FOR A MONTH. THAT WILL DEFINITELY PISS THEM OFF.

No thanks bub. I'd rather sit here and pour scorn with out going to their fan boy's levels.

Same with Rivet City. It just lacked a nice ring of slums and farms around it.

The whole game lacked something in pretty much everything. While I cannot do it... modding anyone?

Honestly, you'd need to rebuild the whole game. Move settlements around. Establish proper trade routes and roads. As the guys said, Rivet City and Tenpenny Tower both need rings of poverty surrounding them. More buildings, more NPCs. Oh and most importantly: REMOVE ALL OF THE HUGE BUILDINGS THAT ARE SOMEHOW STILL STANDING THAT NO ONE IS USING FOR NO REASON. I swear the only buildings being used in the Downtown DC area were Dukov's house and the Ghouls, both of whom made no sense. Especially the ghouls, surrounded by a warzone.

Underworld Logic: We the Ghouls wish to live peacefully, away from the sudden heavy handed Ghoul Racism.... that's why we are holing ourselves up right next to the warzone between Super Mutants, Talon Company Mercs and Slavers, also we have no farms or even fresh air and if we even set foot outside for a stroll we are dead.

I came here and read the forums. I really registered just to ask, how the hell do you people live with your miserable selves? People who enjoy a game are beneath your almighty elite tastes. All hail the people on this hipster ass board who feel the need to slam everyone who is not like them. A board about fallout where the neckbeard mega posters hate fallout! You guys need a life. Taking every tiny aspect of any game and pulling it to pieces, what garbage. Your crappy little golden game was a lie anyway, ever hear of wasteland? You know the real Fallout? Seriously what a bunch of sniveling children. Stop shitting on everything around you and figure out that you are not smart, you are just assholes critiquing people who aren't as elite as you!!!

Do Ghouls even need to eat as often as humans? I'm not an expert on Ghouls by a stretch but I'm wondering if since their lifespan was significantly increased and all the other perks a Ghoul has, then they might also not have to eat as soon as a human does allowing them more time to scavenge food.

I think people could stand to be more critical of FO3 (as well as the up coming FO4) and especially the reviewers, but alas, that will not be the case. I know they talk about FO3 "brilliant" world design, but when you just examine it for about 5 seconds to realize it makes no sense. As with the examples listed above, my go to is Canterbury Commons, the supposed trading hub of the Capital Wasteland. So much wasted potential. We have a "town" of 5 people with no real security and no real signs of being a trading hub. Instead we get "ZOMG DA 50'S STYLE SUPER HERO AND VILLAIN FIGHTING IT OUT! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!"

As for FO4? I expect more of the same. It's already reaching crazy hype levels and given that Emil is back on writing duties, I have very little hope for the story. We already know the Brotherhood is back and they brought with them Super Mutants, which I'm still not convinced it's the Vault 87 variety, cause they look suspiciously like the Maripose ones. I mean, I like some things about FO4 I've seen thus far, namely the settlement building, layered cothing and armor and the crafting, I have zero hope for a story with meaningful C&C. Not to mention the T-60 Power Armor...I wanna know the story behind that, and hopefully it isn't "well, it's a new FO, so new power armor."

I don't know, I would be more miserable if I joined a forum just to complain about how they don't like something.

I'm all ears!

I suspect Walpknut that this is some kind of initiation rite on the Bethesda Fallout forums. "Before you can truly call yourself a Bethesda Fallout fan, you must face the neckbeards, fossils, old timers, and anyone who clings to the first Fallouts and doesn't follow the mantra that all change is good. You must confront them and tell them the undeniable truth, and defend your own opinion without backing it up, or better use the consensus that Fallout 3 is simply good and that these people are idiots for not seeing that."

It is kind of charming, us having become a part of their traditions and mythology.

I wonder how many of the Beth Kids even know anything about Wasteland at all, or anything at all. It seems to be a recurring theme with them, they only have surface level knowledge yet they think they are making some kind of in depth point.

It seems someone is so bothered by us that they must inform everyone here what a Fallout game and wasteland look like.
While this person gets their panties in a twist I think i'll get some popcorn and watch the show. :P
