Nuka World Discussion

Welp I guess that makes sense.

Just read a couple pages back the steam description, "leading gangs of raiders" will probably consist of throwing a Soke grenade at some place and they'll spawn or something, still, what are you even going to raid in the Commonwealth and it's settlements? Most settlements are blasted apart houses with shoddily put together farms, they are barely even rural camps let alone settlements. Hell in settlments you are the one who has to haul all the garbage you pick up yourself because they usually have very few resources by themselves, also you are the Owner/Builder/Administrator of all settlements in the main game anyway, they don't progress on their own so are you just playing an elaborate Cops and robbers game with your settlers for shits and giggles then?

I know, but I was niave at the time. I'd loved all Bethesda games previously, and they'd always released massive DLCs. I figured it'd just be cheaper to get the season pass early and be able to play the colossal DLCs when they came out. Little did I know how badly my hopes and dreams would be crushed that November. But that's also most of the reason of why I even signed up for NMA in the first place.
On a positive note I suppose it was your rite of passage into the bitter side of the video game fandom. Just don't too far off the deep end like me or you'll just sit around and bitch at everything all the time. :V

Why Nuka Cola World tho?
Gotta milk the iconicism(?) for all it is worth.

I can finally be the Shaka of Fallout. Plus I'm sure the content coming with it will be fine to settle you folk down.

I do wonder if one has Nuka World installed and starts a new game if "Raiders" is a fully viable path to beat the game now. That would be cool.
I do wonder if this might be the case, where they see they've made a mistake and want to fix it
That's some seriously wishful thinking. Bethesda and its fans probably think Fallout 4 is an absolute masterpiece and they should go further with their current direction.

If you go to any videos about Fallout 4 (or the circle-jerk that is Fallout 4 reddit), the first hundred comments are of people calling Fallout 4 a masterpiece and not providing any constructive criticism so you are right there. The more cynical ones and the actual critics are sadly the minority in those places.

Even that E3 video from BGS with Toddie Boy in it made it seem that they were stroking their dicks with the GoTY awards they somehow got.

Dunno about that. Toddie-boi was absent at E3 and the video they showed of him he looked sickly in and Pete was up on stage super-nervous so maybe they are shitting the bed over how mixed the response was from the fans towards Fallout 4.

That's also wishful thinking. They made like eleventy-trillion dollars on the first day alone. The marketing department is going to take this as a sign to go even further with their current direction.

Fallout 4 is Bethesda's masterpiece - the culmination of years of dumbing down their own games.

I'm Pretty sure Tod was interviewed and said that somethings didn't work, and he admit some failures.

FO4 is a good game, but it had the potential to be a great game. Hopefully what's in between Fo4 and Fo5 will fix up some of the implements in FO4.

Like removing everything Fallout 4 shoved in except for settlements, id Software's gun mechanics, and weapon customization? Hopefully Beth listens to their critics more than their fanbase since no one in the latter wants to provide constructive criticism.

The only thing I want removed is the talking PC, because it's simply gonna take up too much resources to do.

So you're fine with the perk-screen replacing skills, the way STATS are now almost meaningless, the cross interface dialogue?

The new perk system is fine imo, I've been playing NV lately and while it is easy to ignore, I generally dislike the skills. If it was more fleshed out than it would be great.

I also disagree. The perk system of 4 tends to force the player to pick perks that skills would have been able to handle (like Lockpicking and Science perks to unlock things) rather than the more interesting perks like Ninja or even Aqua-(insert appropriate gender tag here).
Removing skills also removes skill-checks from the game so the only stat for persuasion is Charisma. At least having skills in previous games made it possible to get alternate outcomes and adds some replay-ability (like using your Guns skill to expose a liar in Honest Hearts rather than a simple Speech check).

I see your point.

To be fair I do understand the point of maybe reworking the skill system into something that is increased from 0-10 rather than the 1-100 cause I mean, what really is the difference between 66 and 69 in Science? Some of the skills worked for a dicerolling mechanic but at the moment it seems pretty pointless. But the perk system of FO4 is not the way to go.

Skills/perks/stats don't matter at all if the writing and characters are childish and awful.

"You picked a few locks therefore I feel like I really trust you now. Let me tell you about my whole family. I'm in love with you now" - this is not good writing or character progression.

"Hey I just met you but you're General now k?"

"Welcome to the Brotherhood of Steel, total stranger"

If you're going to make Fallout an action FPS then at least make it look like you took more than 1 day to write the story and dialogue.

Yeah, companion relationships could be better.
