Obsidian to develop (console and PC) SouthPark RPG

Yup Crni. I can't say it will be bad or anything (we haven't seen a single thing of it yet) - but I am simply doubtful of the actual RPG mechanics in the game. I am no developer and not involved in this project, but can you imagine any meaningful character progression in this game? "Oh, I am level 2, should I put points in my fart skill? Or rather the barf skill? C&C omg!"....

I think it would be better to put points in the pop cultural reference of the week skill, most new episodes depend on it so much it has to be an essential skill to beat the game.

Seriously? :|

For starters: Like most other "rpgs"?

And what dev are we talking about here exactly?

Enlighten me, what typical skills "like in most other rpgs" would fit very well to Southpark then, oh wise one.

Supernatural? you mean Buffy with dudes instead of blond bimbos with bad dialogue? ehmmm no thanks, make an rpg out of something else.

Maybe they are gonna make the game take place in Imagination Land? they woudl need to pay some serious amount of money for the copyrighted characters.

Not just dudes Walpknut, Incredibly hot dudes  . And it would be great. Roaming America, fighting monsters, all that cool stuff.

Well, some Science or Doctor skill check should be there, while removing the most dreaded Cartman's anal probe.

@Walpknut Another option (and the one most devs take) Shut up about it till you can. Moreso their comments were very specific to the point where they would be lying if not.
Yup, game devs never try to promote their game, ever

Sounds a LOT like the Persona games with the Character that has to fit in school with the kids, social statuses etc, combined with Paper Mario combat. Problem is those games need a soid script.... and this is South Park.

South Park, huh? I am getting old. South Park, Family Guy, American Dad, none of it can compare to Duck Man.

Now THAT was a great show. It had a great cast, coherent characters, and humor that can knock you dead. The plot itself is a roller coaster ride. The ramblings and the sharp wit of a deranged and degenerative duck detective whose random outbursts and chaotic daily events makes us realize our denials about the fallacies and dichotomies of modern day life.

As for the RPG, well, if they are paid well, I don`t see why would anybody turn it down. I mean, if one were to call them sell outs, let me remind you that they are already paid to do this, make games. I mean if the collective NMA can pull together a investment venture to buy back the franchise and have them make FO games exclusive with no expensive spared, then I am sure people can be happy. But life isn't like that.

Let them make whatever they want, I mean, South Park is a fairly wealthy franchise, so I am sure they can afford good pay checks. Even though I would like to remind them that a lot of (insert media) shows to games port don't fare well, so they should be prepared.

If they want agood setting and funny show to make an RPG they shou make one out of the Venture Bs, that show has more wit and consistea, not to mention better jokes than South Park, and it aactually has a cool aesthetic different than sucking for the sake of sucking". Make a Venture Bros RPG NOW!!!

Personally Starseeker, I think Duck Man is on a higher intellectual level than South Park who often more makes ridiculous and bizarre jokes about society and pop culture.

I love South Park, it sometimes has a good observation and message, but its not the brainiest show.

Oh yeah, Duck Man. I remember it because it followed Monday Night Raw way back when. I can see a dectective game based on the Duck Man series. On the handheld at the very least. PS:Where did this" took an arrow to the knee "joke come from? Edit:Never mind found out.

Yeah, especially when they don't work for the company anymore. Those monsters.

I can see an adventure game based on Duckman. I can see it right here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duckman:_The_Graphic_Adventures_of_a_Private_Dick
As I recall it was pretty bad.
It was made on top of this game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beavis_and_Butt-head_in_Virtual_Stupidity
which also kinda sucked.

Anyway, those details make it sound like the Penny Arcade game or Costume Quest to me, but with a few more RPG elements.
It could be neat I guess? I like South Park, but I'm not sure this is such a great fit.

Beavis and Butthead ? Oh boy. God old memories. I grew up with that stuff.

Well I've got good news for you my friend, MTV brought Mike Judge back to do some more! And while they're not riffing on quite as many music videos anymore, they do that to shows like Jersey Shore and 16 and Pregnant (somehow in these segments, Beavis and Butthead sound *smarter* than all these douchebags)/

Wow so you mean they now do the shit people in youtube have been making for the past 2-3 years? wow, comedy at it's finest.
