It's a shame they cannot afford T-64BM2s and T-84 Oplot-BM. Oh well..
These tanks were fully refurbished by 15th of July 2015 btw. They're not new tanks. They're refurbished old tanks from tank graveyards.

Tank "graveyards" like Sierra Army Depot in the US (see the Fallout 2 reference I made? 
) are not places where tanks (or other equipment) go to die, they are just put in mothballs in case they are needed again. If the US and Russia were to start a war tomorrow, after the first weeks of fighting most of the new material would be destroyed, and both countries would start putting their T-62's and M-60 Pattons respectively back into combat conditions.
Making brand new T-90's and M1's is a feat of engeneering, as a matter of fact they don't make the M1's anymore, just repair damaged ones, and most, if not all T90's are just refubrished T-72 chasis with tech and applique armor added to it.
The only brand new tank being made I believe is the Armata, and I don't think they'll make a lot of them.
That being said, T-80BVs are decent. If you have good rangefinders and night/thermal vision that 125mm gun with up to date ammo can take out an Abrahams from the front.

The T-80BV is decent, but I'd prefer a T-80U over them more. Though I don't think Ukraine has those anymore. (mostly UDs iirc. Us were made by Omsk) About ammunition, yeah, it should be able to fight an Abrams frontally. (but then there's the issue of the T-80BV itself being low armored compared to the Abrams)
About modern tanks: There's also the S. Korean K2, which is.. quite close to the Armata. (2014, T-14 is 2015) Most of the new stuff are just upgraded old things. Leopard 2A7/2A7+, T-90M Breakthrough-3, Leclerc SXXI, etc. Oh yeah, there's also the Altay, which is a Turkish K2.
About T-14 numbers, CEO of UVZ said that they're looking at 2300 units by 2020 - 2025 in an interview today. (or yesterday) http://www.militarynews.ru/story.asp?rid=1&nid=389043
I've found this fascinating before, it seems like a kind of power status signal to have "your very own" MBT, not a lot of countries have that, most will buy off others, but obviously, the "main powers" got their very own designs of modern tanks, such as USA, Russia, Germany, Britain, France, Japan, Italy, and others that are carefully following suit (not counting those that rebuild existing models)
An even higher "status symbol" is the aircraft carrier, for example, which - it speaks for itself - should be a money drain like few others

When did the Elves ever have a reputation of being shrewd businessmen? The Japanese are Elves. Goblins are the entire English-speaking world. Mediterraneans are humans. Germanic-language peoples (English not counting) are Gnomes.

Well Dwarves are supposed to be techy, dirty, drunken brawlers who love working the mines. Elves are magical hippies that fight with finess. Orcs/Ogres are melee fighting brutes, Gnomes are businessman (Arcanum anyone?), Halflings are hungry, roustabout, secluded, xenophobes. Guess what, humans are a bit of everything.
