Just don't forget a lot of people trying to break into the movie industry, just check Netflix.
The Chinese have been attempting to buy up a great amount of our studios. Hell, most movies that want to get into the Chinese market have to follow Chinese rules. Most rules equate to portraying the Chinese as heroic saviors (see Great Wall, The Martian, Iron Man, etc). They really want top dominate the Taiwanese market though, along with markets in the region.
Iranian hollywood is slow but only because of cash flow problems, although a recent unwitting investor really invigorated their industry. They still push plenty of movies for the regional and domestic markets.
Russians have potential but they too suffer from cash problems due to bad investments in the past and current problems trying to break into the ME market. They have had mild success in the American and European markets with films, Hardcore Henry, being an example.
Yea, when there is money to be made, everybody going to look out for their own interests.
