Syndicate rebooted as (surprise) an FPS

Could this be the ultra-clandestine Resistance HQ?

I guess someone forgot to tell Starbreeze you used to direct a squad of cyborgs who acted out your orders with clinical precision -without spouting "cool" one liners- from aboard a zeppelin (as seen on the cover of the game...)

Won't someone walk in and persuadertron these assholes already? Resistance!?! Kill them all to increase profits.

Maybe this is all some kind of meta thing where Starbreeze are illustrating how us civilians are getting fucked by a big corporation, like in the original game we love so much? And through that we are supposed to identify with their new protagonists as we want to resist this crap.

How does it feel to get run over by a speeding stolen hovercar? Huh? Well guess what, I'm gonna back up and run you over again! Ha ha ha! And now I'm going to use your girlfriend as my meatshield when I walk into this building packed with minigun-armed cyborgs. HA HA HA! HOW DOES IT FEEL!?

One good thing about this is that apparently more and more people seem to be getting tired of this nonsense.

Half or more of the comments I read below articles about this game (and even below the youtube videos) seem to be negative, sometimes coming from people who say they haven't played the originals. This could very well just be "the vocal minority" ofc.
I guess we'll have to wait and see how many copies this game sells...

:ok:

EA feeble excuses "But they are using classic elements like Eurocorps, the chip, and the Church of the New Epoch!"

I have reading some of that script, and to me it felt like Fallout 3 did to Fallout 1 and 2.
They basically cannibalized the originals for parts they liked and put them in this new game to create the idea that it is a reboot of the franchise and a 'spiritual' successor.

As for the whole revenge plot, if the script is any indication it will be very cliché.
There doesn't even seem to be an attempt at doing something less than regular.

cant wait till they finally change Jagged Alliance in a shooter ! I mean ... that ... thats all what the fans have always been waiting for !

The game has a very nice asethetic.

It's like if someone made a game of altered carbon only (hopefully) not hopelessly misogynistic

A hallmark of the original Syndicate games were very dark dystopian cities (you could even see the toxicity level* for each city :)), in this reboot everything seems to look spic and span and covered in bloom. I don't understand were the "hopelessly not misogynistic" comment comes from, in Syndicate 99% of human lives (man or female) aren't worth a thing.

It was a reference to the book (Altered Carbon) I was referring too. And you are right though, this is a bit too sunny for what was a fairly cynical game apparently. But I'm confidant they can make it better by release :)

"The secret to enjoying EA's new take on Syndicate might be to put aside all your hopes and dreams and cherished memories regarding the original, and think of it instead as, well, a new Starbreeze game."

"So no, it's not the squad-based tactical brand of sadism that you may want from Syndicate, but that's no reason to give up on this game just yet. Starbreeze is offering up its own, very appealing approach to corporate warfare - and I can't wait to see a bit more of it. "

Thing is, not everyone Syndicate fan is a Starbreeze fan.
And like with Bethesda and their games, tagging Starbreeze to a game doesn't automatically make it good.

And what is so special about it, even to casual gamers it looks like a Deus Ex HR clone with nothing really special of itself while a new real time strategy game would at least garner some interest of old fans and people who would like to try a different genre for a change.

Basically this journalist is giving us the same crap they gave us when Fallout 3 was announced.
I wish the general gamer community was more critical rather than jumping onto anything that looks shiny

Thought I heard Micheal Wincott there somewhere, but then I looked it up. No Micheal Wincott. Boy, that voice of his sure is sexy. It would of at least given me a reason to watch Let's Plays of this shit, but now that he's not in it, I'll simply pass.

The demo is now available on consoles...
Take a look at some coop gameplay:

http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/exclusive-syndicate-demo-gameplay-trailer

-This is not Syndicate
-Brain dead A.I.
-Weak enemies that go down after just a couple of bullets
-COD style kill streaks
-Bland visuals
-Insults the players intelligence with annoying pop ups (like the red cross when a teammate is in front of you)
-Possibly the worst HUD I have ever seen.

Seriously?

:wall:

Damn the screen is constantly cluttered with ugly text and symbols and some of the animations looked like crap. From the video the game seems like bland and generic shooter.
