Happy birthday indeed, but on a more serious note, are you running the latest patch 1.2?

I tried the demo and the combat really turned me off, as well as the control system. Couldn't continue very far with those two problems.

Then perhaps you should put your playthrough on hold until May 16th, when they release the new recordings and the new translation.
In case you're wondering, it'll be free of charge.

really? Now that'd be frigging awesome

I love developers like this

I mailed Atari before and asked if the 1.2 patch was final and they said yes, stupid publisher

a question i had about the outro cg :

*Warning ... SPOILERS ahead !!!*

Who the hell was that guy who tried to assassinate the king ?!
was it lambert ?!

Well, I broke down and am playing it. It's quite entertaining.

I'm usually not into RPG's that have melee weapons, I prefer the post apoc/cyberpunk stuff. Which usually means slim pickings. I do like the witcher though.

/edit: Alrighty. This game gets better the further you get.

I know the thread has been dead for a little over a week, but I feel I can contribute a bit.

I bought the game two days ago, so I automatically updated to 1.2 patch. I played the game up to chapter 2 and then I started browsing on the forums about it. Found out that the U.S version is censored out the ass. Downloaded a EU file that makes it "Uncensored", then I downloaded nude skins for three females,so that they are naked at bed time. Then I had to manually add the nude cards in since the U.S version didn't like that, and the EU file only changed three monsters into their normal skin ( naked, bloody, whatever ). The EU file also adds some combat additions and I'm pretty sure more blood.
I do agree the voice acting can be bad and it is missing dialogue. A Enhanced edition is being released in May. Here are some features:

5000 lines of dialog added for more "Imershun" (can't help it) .
50 new character models.
1000 new character motions and facial expressions in dialog mode.
2 new quests.
and so much more!!!!!

I do love this game though. The amount of replayability gives me woody. I love games with multiple consequences that actually affest the game later on. Combat is fun too. Doesn't ever get boring. I can honestly say it is the best RPG I have played in a long time. Oblivion should be ashamed of itself. The Witcher took some of the elements I liked in KOTOR and expanded it 1000 times. I honestly can't compare any game too this one. Especially with the amount of mods that are going to come out with the modkit. I will say though that my game kept crashing 30 min. into each play session. I followed some tips on the tech boards (registry cleaners, upgrade drivers, play in window) and it works great. I don't even mind playing in a window either. For some reason I prefer it. Anyway I give it a 9.5 outta 10.

I've been playing the enhanced edition now since the 19'th, and I've just lost two days of my life that I'm not in any hurry to get back.

The improvements to the engine really makes the game flow like a dream on my old Athlon 64 3000+ with a X800 graphic card. And the "tweaks" to the voice acting really makes a difference.

Nothing but love for this game now! <3

Enhanced Edition - cool, but they already had 3 fuck-ups wit it.

1. they put the free-patch version on a single server with low bandwith, so basically you couldn't download it through official means in the first two day. Had to wait for a torrent, which also wasn't hosted by CD Projekt.

2. folks in Canada didn't get their registration keys, so they couldn't install the patch - either they had to mail Atari for the key and wait minimun a week for it, or buy the game again.

3. no blood in US version, had to make a patch for it.

What I'm trying to say is, that I admire this guys for the effort they put into the game, but they suffer from terrible ways of publishing it. They need to work on it, srsly.

They had the patch up on Filshack about an hour after it was released. :P
Shame really that I've lost my manual so I can't register the game to use the enhanced edition patch :?

Enhanced Edition sucks, they removed the only thing that kept me from falling asleep in the original version and that was the fact that all the characters stood stiff as a board when talking.

Why do I have to actually see them express themselves physically now when they're talking shit, that's not funny, having them stare at each other like a pair of zombies while they curse at each other was much funnier.

They're not getting my money, no sir.
