The Witcher Thread

That's about the weirdest complaint I ever read.

I'm glad the Enhanced Edition is finally out and I'm even more glad that someone put it on fileshack. That shortened my download time from approx. 40 days to 40 minutes.
I played a bit last night, I didn't even notice the hours flying by. And I already screwed four bitches. Go me! :aiee:

Edit: Dammit, why do my posts always start a new page?

Enhanced Edition sucks, they removed the only thing that kept me from falling asleep in the original version and that was the fact that all the characters stood stiff as a board when talking.

Why do I have to actually see them express themselves physically now when they're talking shit, that's not funny, having them stare at each other like a pair of zombies while they curse at each other was much funnier.

They're not getting my money, no sir.

So how much exactly did you play the Enhanced Edition?

Totally not at all man.
I just HEARD that and said "Nah, no, this won't do."

Don't make me explain myself, PLEASE DON'T.

So you're just trolling.

Anyway, I love this game. I don't want to stop playing. But I must. *sigh*

So, do you own the copy of the game? You get the patch for free if you do. So why the "they won't get my money"?

Anyway, SCREW YOU WITCHER FOR TEH WEEEN!!!

Enhanced Edition - cool, but they already had 3 fuck-ups wit it.

1. they put the free-patch version on a single server with low bandwith, so basically you couldn't download it through official means in the first two day. Had to wait for a torrent, which also wasn't hosted by CD Projekt.

2. folks in Canada didn't get their registration keys, so they couldn't install the patch - either they had to mail Atari for the key and wait minimun a week for it, or buy the game again.

3. no blood in US version, had to make a patch for it.

What I'm trying to say is, that I admire this guys for the effort they put into the game, but they suffer from terrible ways of publishing it. They need to work on it, srsly.

I'd agree with you if I had any of those problems, only thing that troubled me was a mss32.dll issue wich I quickly managed to fix. Took me about 2 hours to download the patch and about 2 more to install it.

Oh, and the Polish voices are great.

I guess the server issues were solved later on. The servers just couldn't withstand the onslaught of people trying to download it the day it was released. I got the update from fileshack and the bonus stuff a few days later from the original server - with a constant speed of 1,500 kbit/s.
Reinstalling the game + patch will be a pain in the ass, though.

Does anybody else think that the 4th chapter in the game is the most beautiful part of the game ?!

I'm still only on the first chapter. Though Vizima is a badass medieval town so I guess the art direction just gets better :P

I prefer Vizima.
yeah...Vizima had also a nice corrupt and dark feeling to it but the 4th chapter was unlike anything i have ever seen before...especially the opening scene...damn ! i have to replay this game again .

Man - I was expecting to get to at least Vizima last night - the patch took literally 2.5 hours to install. The inventory is sexy. Also, got a better video card from XFX when I had to send it in over the summer(7800 GTX -> 8800 GS). I'm appreciating the nicer graphics and load times.

Without this thread, I would've had no idea about the patch. Sorry System Shock 2(and your hatred for XP) - The Witcher is next.

I almost finished the Price of Neutrality. I must say they did some nice dialogues - especially I liked the line "what happened here?" "nothing, wolves killed a man in our camp. nothing wrong with that - damn beasts love loud noises and fire - they would bathe in it if they could". Of course it's taken out of context, so it makes little sense, but it was really well fitted in the situation.

Oh, and the VO and dialogues in Prologue are finally good enough. Not marvelous, but good.

No, I don't think you understand, this game is conceptually boring in every way but somehow people think it's the new messiah of cRPGs, give a large list of what you find so great about this game - not argumentatively, but as a description of why you enjoy this game so I can at least understand to a certain extent why anyone enjoys it, because I find everything about it absolutely droll and juvenile.

I can't understand it, but lot's of people enjoy volleyball, while I find it extremely boring. Why aren't everyone playing soccer, my favourite sport?

Sounds familiar?

Anyway. Your arguments, whatever they are, suck. Try giving something specific if you want to discuss *anything*.

dude...it's all a matter of taste. Nobody here has forced you to play the game.
