What BoS division do you speculate is in Boston?

But Saturnite absorbs heat like a motherfucker, to the point where a heated knife can melt through metal. You don't want to be inside something that can cook you alive like that.

[Science]If you can wear saturnite fist super-heated safe and sound, maybe it's not so terrible inside? I agree that there're technical issues, but the potential is bigger.

Also, it would be rather useless as armour, because who wants armour that stays red hot for days after a battle?
It would make sense as a heatsink for the actual armour parts, though. Since reflecting a laser beam is not exactly possible (I work with all kinds of high powered laser beams, and believe me, every tiny speck of dust counts at some point. Fingerprints on your scanning lens and you turn on your 4kW laser? Say goodbye to your lens...) the heat has to go somewhere. Have a few insulated pockets of saturnite to work as a heatsink is not that bad of an idea.
Of course, the way laser weapons work in Fallout doesn't make sense in the real world, anyway, so whatever :D
Not that laser weapons would make any sense in the real world to begin with ^^

I agree to that idea, have small areas of Saturnite to absorbe the laser heat and spread it out, maybe have the armour laced with it.

I would say something like reactive armor on modern tanks. Small patches of saturnite put over the proper armor, that would take the heat from the laser beam and fall off.

Well Sai, we where both partially correct. According to TheChosen1 in the leaked Fallout 4 gameplay, it's both Lyon's AND Midwestern working as one group from the sounds of it.

Thank you for the update, that is intersting, very intersting.

As in very shitty.

I don't have enough information yet to say.

We're looking at Bethesda, guys who turned a xenophobic brotherhood into savers of the wasteland.

Except that they turned a splinter faction into that and fully acknowledged the differences, had them be considered rogue to the originals and then had a bunch take stuff and abandon them and become outcasts. It's not like they just re-wrote the BoS.

And yet they are known as the Brotherhood of Steel, while those who stayed true to their mission are the Outcasts. That's a bit of a rewrite... I mean, to show that they're a splinter faction they should have called themselves "Steel Paladins" or something noblebright like that, and not cast the people true to their original aims out.
Come to think of it, it's kind of an analogy to what happened with Fallout and Bethesda.

They chose to remain the BoS and since they are the bigger group and make the rules, the Outcasts are proud to not be associated with them and call themselves that with pride.

I agree with Walpknut. The fact that (almost) the entire east coast detachment had a change of principles is not that hard to believe. Specially after being to The Pitt. But the whole white knight crap is not only unnecessary but also completely unfitting and retarded.

It actually makes sense to me considering their dedication to being saviors. They almost become zealots and see themselves as white knights. The Outcasts do not, nor does any other detachment but they do.

Considering that most of them grew under the original codex it´s rather ridiculous to suppose that in a short period of time they have managed to move from being distrusting of outsiders to greet them with a stupid "Steel be with you".

You might be able to consciously ignore a dogma or ideology that you have lived by your whole life. But to alter your whole behavior in a short amount of time? Extremely unlikely.

20 years isn't exactly a short amount of time.

In my opinion it is for something like that. Take a look at how hard is to change some dogma/beliefs/ideology in our own world. Racism is still a major thing in some parts of the USA. 9 years ago Spain approved same sex marriage and there is still some opposition and even assaults against gay people on the streets. Depending on how deep such beliefs are it might take generations for some behavior to just change, not to mention do a 180º.

I don't have a problem so much with the idea of splinter factions of the Brotherhood, but I do have a problem with the whole "Steel be with you" Jedi quality they had in that game.

They're supposed to be a morally gray institution even after the split (what with hating mutants and ghouls) but then they just sort of never bring that up and wind up saving the day with a giant robot.

It's kind of a waste to have them travel all that distance when they could've easily just come up with another group that accomplished the same deal, but without the baggage.

Scientology was made up by a sci fi writer and a few decades later has a huge following of fanatics.

I do think "Steel Be With You" is lame, but as for a different ideology it makes sense.

That would be the Initiates. And not many seem to survive long enough, according to the computers within The Citadel and the thoughts of other members.

The thing is Bethesda pulled a 180º on the BoS and forced a white knight crap that doesn´t really add anything and goes head on against the lore. Quite a shame considering that the idea is not bad and with just a bit of work it could have been not only lore compliant but also much deeper and well developed.
